  1. Chaddy, I am not sure saying "I think our summer recruitment was fine" and then "I have said we need 7 to 8 new players this summer." are two comments that back eachother up. If our summer recruitment was fine we would not be needing that many surely? Only Reed and Armstrong are deemed better than what we already had. One is a loan and another is someone we already had the season before. This would suggest that our summer recruitment was not that great because the players we brought in on the whole have not really improved our first team - just padded out our squad.
  2. So we either have to back him or want him out? Why does it have to be so black and white? I am concerned with the lack of activity in January, our lack of adequately addressing key areas even back in the summer, our current form, constant round pegs in square holes and how some players are or aren't being ultilised (Brereton on the wing, Rothwell barely getting a kick, Nyambe being pushed out to accommodate Bennett). Despite that I feel TM deserves a chance to rectify this as he has a lot of credit in the bank. So for now I am happy to have him stay at the helm. Should things not improve and our summer business is poor again however, my opinion might change.
  3. Summer window and the business done within it will go along way to making my mind up either way. Its been quite obvious the areas that have needed attention for the last two windows yet they have still not been addressed.
  4. Fingers crossed he makes it through unscathed.
  5. He backtracks quite quickly after the presenters reaction and tries to downplay it - maybe thinking he might get in trouble when the club finds out he eats a greasy fry-up on matchday?
  6. Or play him in the position every other manager has, where he was bought for 15 million to play and earned an England call-up. Rodwell sees himself as a CB and wants to play there but seemingly nobody else has so far. TM is willing to let him have a go at making it there and he has had some decent performances back there but he is better alongside Lenihan or another bruiser type rather than Mulgrew. The latter is just too similar. If we were to not keep a hold of Reed, Rodwell and Travis as a pairing might work in CM.
  7. We've obviously faltered but I think this is mainly because we have given up on the season now - subconsciously at least. TMs comments certainly dont help in that sense as it sounds like he has given up on it too and that filters through to the players. Not going up, not going down - end of season. Then you have the odd selections of late and you can understand why the players are a little confused with it all. Mission has been accomplished though on expectations so we have still gone forward this season. Test will be next season as I would expect further improvement.
  8. Said season was over two matches ago and someone came on questioning it - still dont think its season over?
  9. Disagree - he is head and shoulders above our other Cm's - only Travis has come close and he has dropped off.
  10. Really dont think it was - especially how TM goes on about the right type of players almost as if he over-scrutinises transfers. he also doesnt like to spend money apparantly and wants the owners to be patient - so why would he splurge 7 mil on a teenager?
  11. Harsh to single Travis out as being really poor when the whole team has been. Been far worse performers than him though admittedly he has not been as good as his first handful of performances.
  12. We all drink tea, dont brush our teeth and speak with a posh accent apparantly. If stereotyping is the new rascism, this world is more fcked than I thought it was.
  13. Thanks for the update - we've all been wondering the latest state of play regarding injuries at Leeds.
  14. If we'd have played our best players, they might have taken those chances.
  15. France and Germany especially is where you're going to find potential gems that are not overpriced like players here.
  16. Does sound like he is under a bit of pressure to get us to the prem as quickly as possible - why wouldn't they want that though to be fair? I can sympathise a little if he feels they are not beiing patient enough but at the same time if they're making funds available, he should be using them as long as they represent good value to the club.
  17. More confirmation that he reads these boards - those two players are exactly the ones I mentioned that show that there are some gems out there in Europe that cost close to nothing. “Or how do we find the players? I have talked before, we haven’t actually got a scout who covers Europe. So how are we going to find a Maupay at Brentford, or a Benrahma? How are we going to find them if we’re not even in the market and watching those games?
  18. Of course we need to stick with TM, as despite his flailings, you have to say we have progressed season on season with him in charge. Relegated on a record points haul by GD with his points per game average putting us midtable, so that relegation was not down to him. We then bounced straight back up and are now consolodating with a probably midtable finish. Progress each season. That said, I can see why some might not see him as being able to take us to the next level which is to challenge in the top half and potentially break into the top six. He deserves the chance though and unless we really start going backwards he should be in charge.
  19. They wont go up and it will all be Rodwells fault. You have to say that we picked a good time to go down. Really not good to get stuck in that division as BDS pointed out. You count on the core of your experienced Championship players to stick around to reverse what they helped cause like we did with Graham, Mulgrew, Bennett etc. They wont want to stick around for too long though and then you're fishing around for players in L1 - before you know it, you become a L1 team rather than a Championship team just relegated. They were able to attract some players in the summer who would have thought that they were hopping onto an almost guaranteed promotion charge into the league above, that attraction fades eventually.
  20. Always downplaying us and lowering expectation is one thing that grinds me a little bit tbh. Making out that we should be happy to be on a par with Preston when just a few weeks ago we were streets ahead of them is poor form. Of all the teams in the league to choose as well. Every team we play is bigged up like Barcelona - sometimes I think he persuades himself and that is why we always set up so negatively or in a manner to counteract the oppositions strengths rather than emphasizing ours and letting the opposition worry about us. The was he talks I feel like we are a Burton or something or a team that has spent the last decade in League 1. We spent 10 million in the summer - which is a lot more than at least half the division. Heck Millwall only recently broke their all time transfer record by spending 1 million on a player. I am not having it that we should be happy where we are. Yes, we would have taken our position at the start of the season and its progress but we should always be looking up and showing ambition. We are Blackburn Rovers Tony, we have won the Premier League, we have a cat academy and our facilities outshine practically everyones in this division - being on a par with PNE is not an accomplishment, they should be happy to be on a par with us.
  21. I said that with Special K in charge but they have improved since. Saying that, it does seem that OGS has to prove it against good teams.
