  1. Can see his logic in it though. Williams can cover two positions. Would still have Nyambe at RB over Bennett though.
  2. Madon said it was 6 million + up to a million in add-ons, 2 million a year for 3 years.
  3. Unfortunately the price tag does matter, let's face it, if he didnt cost 7 mil (or whatever it is) he would be in the reserves now. That fee is stopping him from going there because of how it would look when he really should be getting game time there. If it were an academy prospect that came into the first team picture that had not looked up to it and fallen further below in the pecking order, you can be sure he would be sent to work with the reserves.
  4. Anyone know how much Britt Assombolonga is on at Boro?
  5. The kid could earn more by doing a paper round. In fact he probably doesnt even cover his matchday expenditures each year. I highly doubt money is his motivation but I agree this is more the TV companies coming down on them. Its the way the club is grabbing hold of these kids during the matches is what rankles me.
  6. Yes he did and when you work out how much that is at 70k a week, that's a shitload he walked away from. Funny how it doesnt get mentioned much that he mutually cancelled his contract in the last year though.
  7. I have no qualms about being outpriced and sticking to a sensible wage structure but as others have pointed out, it wouldnt have been too difficult to establish what these players were going to cost weeks ago and therefore could/should have looked elsewhere. Even an up and coming striker from League 1 that has been banging them in all season (there is a handful of them) would have been a low cost option that could have provided decent cover for DG should he suffer an injury. I thought we worked off A, B and C lists but from what I can gather we had one player on that list who was in the ended wanted at Southampton and were simply offered the option to take the other two which were well out of our price range. Oh well, it is what it is but I just hope DG can stay fit.
  8. The form of Rodwell, Travis and Armstrong is key to this - keep up their previous level of performances and we will be difficult to beat and will have some real dangermen going forward.
  9. Our list couldnt have been very big if we put all our eggs into SG and then had tentative looks at BA or CA. If we cannot afford anyone in this league then why have we not looked down a league at the very least such as Marquis who is interesting a few - surely we could afford them? Not even any loan deals that could have been done just to ease the reliabilty on DG being fit?
  10. Everybody in and around us are strengthening and we miss out again. Let's see what happens but I am not getting my hopes up now.
  11. they are certainly fighting tooth and nail to hold on to their playoff aspirations. Tipped by many as the team most likely to fall out of them.
  12. Seems everybody is after a striker. Below is according to the Mirror: John Marquis is the subject of a three-way battle between Wigan, Sunderland and Hull
  13. Yup loans are all financial these days whether in terms of loan fees or money off the books. In the good old days a loan was to send a kid out for free to get some experience. This is an example, a million quid to loan a PL full back. Aston Villa lead the race to sign Tyrone Mings on loan but Bournemouth will seek a £1m fee.
  14. Probably because they want full wages paid for any loan deal. Not really a good deal for anyone except Boro who get a player they are not using enough completely paid for for the rest of the season while his value will enhanced should he do well.
  15. Not the worst shout in the world. Good age, good scoring record but just hasnt really been tested at this level.
  16. 10 apps and scored one goal against Utd apparently. Me too, ave no recollection of this guy.
  17. Absolutely...all footballers will want to play at the highest level and test themselves against the best. They look at their peers up there, what they're achieving, what they're earning and their ultimate goal is to get there themselves. Dack probably does love it here and I bet he enjoyed playing football for the Gils too but he will have ambitions of making as good a career as he can. Possible England honors too should he make the step up - its a no-brainer unfortunately should a prem club come in for him.
  18. Anyway, sure BA or CA would be a better instant impact than SG but I would not be opposed to the latter either. Those claiming its underwhelming are saying so simply because of the other two links. SG on a perm (of whom is also being chased by Boro as a replacement for BA and is currently getting some fleeting minutes for Southampton) would be a sensible signing that has the potential to grow. TM likes him, he seems a good professional and I really feel he is another that has never really benefitted from being played up front for a number of games. I am just glad we're trying to address an area that is needed. Oh and whoever said Nuttal is a better option than SG needs to take a look at themselves. Nuttal has done well recently but he is not near SG right now in terms of ability.
