I think there's enough firepower and ability in the squad to potentially challenge the top 6.......but not with Mowbray in charge. With the current management team I think well be top half of the bottom half....i.e. 12-15th.

I think this summer we have strengthened some important areas of the team, with an obvious glaring weakness at CB. I still don't think letting Raya go was the right thing to do. The midfield and attacking positions are definitely stronger than last year. For a club of our size and a need to keep the wage bill to a minimum I'm surprised there haven't been more outgoings. Centre mid looks overstocked with similar players. Surprised we haven't tried to move on Smallwood or Evans....although its likely due to lack of interest. We also kept Dack who i thought would have gone in the summer

Trouble with Mowbray is his results will likely never be bad enough to force Venkys and his mate Waggot into action to replace him. We will have many years just about surviving at this level whilst hes in charge, yet I cant see him ever taking us forward. After the good results playing attacking football at the end of last season, to go back to the same dour stuff on Saturday sums him up. Too old fashioned, stubborn, afraid to upset his mates and unable to take the club up a level. We need a chairman with some forward vision, which its unlikely Waggot will ever be. Hopefully our Rothwells, Nyambes, Chapmans will take their chance when finally given one leaving him with no choice but to change.

Armstrong was left Downing right? wow.... I find the Nyambe situation strange as I actually rate him highly at right back. Must have had a fall out at some point.

I think its a sensible move for all. Nuttall clearly has an eye for goal but his lack of technical ability proves costly at higher levels against better defenders. Prolific at U23s but I cant see him playing any higher than L1. Hope it goes well for the lad. Wonder if there will be any more outs this summer? The Gareth Bale saga seems to have no end in site. Real Madrid and Zidane want him to leave, Bale refuses to leak and wont take a pay cut on wages of £600,000 a week! ? Kind of think it sums up modern football that Bale would rather not play and take the money than play regularly somewhere else whilst still earning millions a year.

Pretty much agree with this. I'll put my hands up that I had no idea who the left back was when he came on, even thinking he may be a trialist. Thought he was much better than Bell. Also much taller than our other full backs and even got forward a bit. Johnson looked spent after about 15 minutes. Very slow and laboured. Didnt really offer anything different to Evans or Smallwood. Hopefully he will improve with more fitness. Downing seems a pointless signing. Another Conway. If Mowbray starts the season with Travis, Nyambe, Rothwell benched for Downing, Bennett and Evans he needs removing. The impact was instant once Travis and Rothwell came on.

It does look like weve had zero pre season. Johnson looks gone already. The fact Mowbeay has picked the oldest dullest least progressive team he possible could just compounds it. Really cant understand his thinking. Hopefully there will be changes at half time and this isn't what he thinks is the best side.

The latest LET interview with Mowbray doesnt sound good reg Davenport. Apparently hes going for a scan and was very upset after the game. Doesnt say what the injury is. id imagine Davenport wouldnt be very emotional unless he knew it was fairly serious.

I associate a lot of blame to Rovers. Our pre season is the result of unambitious and lazy organisation on behalf of the club. It appears no thought or effort has been put into the fixture list, with two arranged against clubs who are unlikely to or cant fulfill the fixture.
