  1. “ An Inspector Calls “ was good last night on BBC 4. It’s an old story but it’s just as relevant today.
  2. Most blatant penalty not given in my book was Parker on Jason Wilcox at Old Trafford when we were winning 1-0 and it would have been a red card as well. I have a long memory and that was just one of a long series of bad decisions we got against the Red Rats.
  3. I suspect Carter might get a game even if Nyambe is fit so we have another big lad to deal with the throw ins.
  4. There’s quick over 10 yards and then there’s fast over 50 yards. I think Dolan belongs in the first category.
  5. Yeah, we’ll need Ayala for this one. Regarding Mike’s preview - Bryan Douglas scored the best goal I’ve ever seen at Ewood against them back in the day.
  6. I don’t know what he was doing for that chance he missed. He side footed it when he should have give it the laces.
  7. No, he’s got a long history of muscle type injuries. Like most quick players.
  8. It’s a bit much to throw a young centre half in at full back. I’ve seen better centre halves than Carter get a chasing playing out wide.
  9. It’s convenient that it allows Mowbray to have another go at the dreaded 5 at the back. To paraphrase the late Graham Taylor “ Do I not like that line up ! “
  10. Yeah, nobody is going to tell me Bell was a good fullback, he was really poor. The next time he stops a cross coming in will be the first.
  11. Me too, as we’ve seen recently nothing beats Test Match cricket, it’s the highest form of the game.
  12. That’s very humble and modest plot. Thanks for all the memories Jack.
  13. The best school boy striker I ever played with signed for Hull City straight from school back in the day. That’s where he discovered beer and women. He was back playing with us a couple of years later. He was still a class act but playing in central midfield and about a stone heavier.
  14. I couldn’t care less about the Hundred. I don’t even bother to watch it at all and I’m a cricket fan.
  15. Gallagher lacked that burst of pace to be a top striker, he was always a clever footballer though.
  16. Mike England also played cricket to a decent level. I think it was for East Lancs but I could be wrong. Jim will know I suppose.
  17. I’ve never seen any striker score more goals in off the inside of the post. Like Jimmy Greaves he always went for placement and rarely power. RIP Gerd.
  18. No mate, that must be Mike England. He started out at right back for the first team, played a few games at inside right, got established in the team as a left half, made the centre half position his own when Matt Woods called it a day and later on played successfully as a striker in a crisis. The only positions he didn’t play were on the wing and in goal, if Mowbray had have been managing us then he probably would have got a run out on the wing with him being 6 ft 2 ins tall.
  19. Yeah, no matter where you played him he wouldn’t look out of place. Mike England was the same.
  20. Not really what we are desperate for then.
  21. What level do London Irish play at these days ?
  22. Where does Burgess play Chaddy ?
  23. Feed him a few lines to sell the current Blackburn Rovers to Cooper. That’s if you can think of any because I can’t. He’d have to wait his turn and learn how to play centre half off Lenihan I suppose
  24. I remember it being one of the hottest early May days ever.
