  1. Certainly wasn't nowhere like Steve Kean. I thought he did a really good job for 18 months or so. There was a lot of truth in that post though, he was the first one to dumb down expectations with such classics as "it's not 1995 anymore" and "I dont look at the table, i'm a development coach". Also what was the comment when Stuart Harvey left the club? Sunderland being a huge tank coming past out crappy cheap little car or something?
  2. The last four words are unnecessary. The rest of it though, is a pretty accurate description of Mowbray's last two and a half years here?
  3. Potential. Could have said the same a few years back when we kept sending Wharton and Carter on loan, before becoming important members of the squad, He's still only 20, seems to be some sort of myth these days that 20/21 year olds should be ready to slot straight into first teams. This route is needed for many players before they become ready, he might never be Championship ready, but a season of League 2 and then followed up with one in League 1 certainly won't hurt and we can assess it next summer. Especially with us being well covered in that position at the min.
  4. That would be his "option" season too, I can already see how this plays out, he will get into the side around February 2027, have a really good end to the season before we fail to agree new terms with him, "Backed into a corner" again.
  5. Someone at the club telling them they don't "need to" is my guess.
  6. We all know that. The club has a different opinion though unfortunately. I would bet my mortgage on who ever they sign for the RW spot will be coming in as back up to Hedges. We don't improve the first 11 as a rule here.
  7. Forson would make sense over someone like Afolayan too. Forson only started one game all season for Monza last season. The club want someone to come in as back up to Hedges and be a "20/30 minute" player on that side much like Kargbo is on the other. He also isn't particularly quick I don't think, decent over the first 10 yards like ACD or Dolan but not a sprinter like Kargbo. I'm guessing he would jump at that squad role, where as someone experienced would want to be a starter.
  8. Old rumour, the same journalist who first reported the Henriksson deal said that we enquired for Rosler but Malmo don't want to sell this summer. Could definitely see us revisiting that one next summer to replace Hyam. I believe this is the case, similar to Taveres who qualified for these reasons and didn't need a ESC spot. Yeah I saw that he said he was experienced and " a few quid". He doesn't know why it hasn't progressed. I can tell you Alan, it's all in you're words. Saw someone mention Dapo Afolayan, ex Bolton playing for St Pauli. 28 next month and one year left on his contract, wouldn't need a ESC spot either. Can't see us spending "a few quid" in general on one signing, but certainly don't see it on a near 28 year old winger. Someone like this seems much more likely to me, hardly played a professional game and on a long contract so could see a "loan to buy" deal or something.
  9. He's slower than Hyam, not particularly strong either considering his height. Seems to be good on the ball though.
  10. This just isn't going to happen, those days are long gone.
  11. Might drag until the last week of the window then! Can't imagine there are many takers for Buckley at the min.
  12. Guessing he won't be involved for a while seeing as he hasn't trained since getting injured on the 9th July.
  13. I wouldn't worry. There isn't a chance that gets heard today.
  14. He got injured in that game he played 32 minutes, and hasn't trained since.
  15. I've just ran it through this site to check - https://www.transferroom.com/gbe This also has him as a pass, but only just.
  16. Yes, due mostly to International minutes.
  17. Elliot saying Mafoumbi "could leave" when asked about ESC spots.
  18. Not sure Michelski sitting on the bench all season is great for development. Needs to be playing regular games in the under 21's for me.
  19. A "minor" hold up on the Miller deal. Reckon we have read that script before.
  20. Helps that he's a right back. Imagine he's quite far behind the others though after his injury at the back end of last season. I think he goes on another loan somewhere towards the end of the window. Montgomery is nowhere near ready to be shoehorned in the right back position in this league.
  21. It's fixed. He wouldn't be able to train or play for the U21's without it. (or be employed by the club) Only way to free the space up is for him to leave the club.
  22. December 2023 was the last renewal, so not quite 2 and a half years yet, but I imagine that will pass before they manage to get anyone else renewed. We're essentially a one contract club now.
  23. He could well end up in the "10". Tavares, Baradji and Henrikson will all end up replacing the first choice trio of Travis, Tronstad and Cantwell, on less than half the wages is my guess. Great business for the finances, not so much for on the field of play.
