Don’t think he has to prove anything, he’s still a teenager. It’s poor recruitment by the club that left him as the main man in midfield, expected to dictate games twice a week, instead of managing his minutes and introducing him gradually, and lo and behold he’s now picking up injuries.

Exactly. Some players certainly do have the ability they just don’t want it enough, whilst other more limited players have the mentality and have grafted their arses off to carve out a decent Premier League career.

If he had a great season and went for a £10 million fee (I’m plucking figures out the air here) and a good percentage of that was put back into player recruitment then fair enough, just the way it is at this level, ‘models’, ‘Brentford’ and all that. Alas, it won’t as we are now reduced to selling star academy players and goalkeepers to merely pay day to day bills.

Must be something in the mentality of players that ply their trade at this level. Plenty of talented footballers, but you can wave goodbye to most games if you concede the first goal.

I know we didn’t, ‘we were shit and they were too’ is the flip side of patronising managers/opposing fans saying how marvellous the team they just put 4 past are.

Play terrible and score 4, yet play great most other weeks and ship 3/4 each time… go figure 🤷‍♂️

It’s a fair price. As an example Rovers have to price League Cup ties far cheaper than a Championship game as even fewer folk would turn out in comparison to a league game than they do already. Women’s football isn’t seen as a top rank product either, that may change, but it is still semi pro at this level at the end of the day. Yes, it means the Women’s team ‘can’t wash its face’ and is subsided by the wider club, but then again the club as a whole can’t wash said face anyway without Sky/Venky backing.

1300 for a game down there at £31 a ticket is excellent. First Saturday London fixture of the season so obviously our south east based fans came out in good numbers.

And that’s fair enough, you have to take any win (and defeat) with a pinch of salt. They looked like they’d given up second half, certainly weren’t busting a gut for their manager and are obviously a poor side who could well go down. On the flip side it’s why I wasn’t particularly upset with the Leicester game. A thrashing on the surface but we gave a far better set of players a good game for long periods. All about context.

Telalovic aside who unfortunately looks way off at this stage (and is a symptom of the late window striker desperation after the budget cut), all the signings look like they have something to me. So kudos to GB, who’s done well throughout his time here considering the budgets he’s had to work with and the shambolic organisation he’s had to operate in. It’s more about is there enough bodies in that squad, especially up front to get through a 50+ game season if we want to be in the running for the top 6? I’d say no, and that’s on these owners.
