Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas
Mattyblue replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Disagree on Gestede. As an ex-player on the ‘football side’, he’ll not be seen as fair game by a sizeable chunk of the fanbase in contrast to Venky bean counters like Swag-hail. That was the only misstep for me today. It’s vitally important to keep the messaging tight as we need to keep as much of the fanbase as possible onside this time if it’s going to be different than all the previous campaigns. -

So we go after some no mark like Rudy Gestede? A completely insignificant individual, but by including him too you can dilute the message and it becomes scattergun. -

Yes, I didn’t quite understand the Gestede angle, low down the chain, even less clout than Swag-hail. I’m nitpicking slightly, as it’s been a highly positive day, but the owners and those two should have been purely the targets for me, an ex-player on the football side is far more likely to get some sympathy from the fanbase. -

Always amazes me how many folk spend the majority of their time at Ewood supping that piss water on the concourses. -
Their standard playbook. Say nothing or come out with a platitude ridden statement on a blue background and wait for it to blow over - perhaps it won’t this time…

I’ve cut them a lot of slack, I’ve been a member for a decade, but fundamentally it seems a very cautious, bogged down in procedure organisation and they seem to struggle to quickly pivot and get on the front foot. There is still a place for them, it has a committee full of dyed in the wool Blues that care deeply, but in a time of crisis they just aren’t going to lead any resistance - but luckily others will, as proven today.

Bit of reflection needed within the WATR committee after today.

The Facebook responses are interesting, hardly a pro-regime one to be seen… contrast that to a few months ago. The tide has turned and they know it. -

More national traction for the cause in a morning than the group I actually pay money to has managed in a decade. -
Shaw was a nobender, so I sure he was delighted to.

The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.

The young lad sits alongside 10,000 less folk than he would have if these owners hadn’t have ever turned up. Not sure what difference it will make to him if it’s another, say, 3k less next season. -
Stoke have frozen their prices since 2008 - local owners that understand their fanbase and local economy.
-
Exactly, rising prices at a club in complete disarray that can only lead to a poor product on the pitch = substantial fall in ST Holders and indeed, less revenue.
-
It’ll be £500 behind the goal in the run up to KO, that is not cheap, and that’s before you get to the general shambles that is this football club.
-
What’s the old line, ‘a camel is a horse designed by committee’. I always get that vibe from WATR, especially with the contrast with Glen, too much procedure and caution and not enough seizing of the moment with this lot.

Were you at Anfield in May 1995?
Mattyblue replied to 4,000 Holes's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I was there… but my mate who had been to more away games (keep your stubs!) than me wasn’t as he was about 20 people behind me in the queue (that snaked down Bolton Road for tickets) and they’d sold out. Went with my Mum and Dad on the old 007 bus with Darwen Blues (if you know, you know!), stopped in a pub near Ormskirk pre game, real nervous energy. Around the ground Liverpool fans with Rovers scarves on, hoping we’d win the game, surreal. The game itself was horrible, rumours kept going round the away end ‘Andy Cole’s scored!’… he hadn’t. ‘United have missed a penalty’… there were no penalties. Then Redknapp, but seconds later, delirium, tears, trophy. My next memory is arriving back in Blackburn and folk all over the streets all the way back to Ewood and we on the coaches were also treated like heroes! My dad got off the coach, went on a pub crawl and I don’t think we saw him again until the Ewood Party the day after 😅 The greatest time made possible by the greatest owner. I’ve held off posting on here as it upsets me, as I find it so hard to look back when you see what these present incumbents have done to this fantastic football club - but they can’t, won’t take my memories. Up the Rovers.- 78 replies

The Blackburn End will be edging towards £500 by KO… reasonable, that ain’t.
-
Behind the goal is now the most expensive lower tier in the ground - another cynical cash in as they see that it is heavily populated with long standing ST holders whose loyalty can be rinsed (as well as the gimmick of a few rows of safe standing). What a disgraceful bunch of people we've somehow ended up running/owning this grand old club.

England qualifying groups 20/30 years ago certainly weren’t as easy as they’ve been over the past decade. The days of groups with an Italy or a Germany in it have long gone. The way it is now with so many small countries in Europe post the fall of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia and even the likes of Gibraltar get a slot, ergo most groups are largely cannon fodder for the top sides.

So the wider game didn’t appreciate how good he was? Probably best not to take the first offer that came in then and bide some time until it’s caught up, or how about building a side around him and try and get promoted yourself, you know, the point of professional football … oh, that’s right we had the owners’ bills to pay for them. We’ll go round in circles on this, nobody disagrees that we’d have got £30million in January 2024… so you keep him and utilise the player yourself, especially when he’s a fan happy to stay… but of course, Venky’s had other ideas.
-
Yea of course my 7 year would support Rovers, wouldn’t even be up for discussion.
-
…or he could have stayed here and been the cornerstone of a promotion side and we could be enjoying him in the Premier League instead - I know, I know, crazy talk!
