If you see that happening fair enough, I see them letting it limp on, the losses get smaller as we down size, get shut of the academy and on and on it goes - you can’t put normal business sense on to these owners.

If we sold 0 STs it would make no odds to them, they’d just instruct Swaghail to cut elsewhere to make up the shortfall. We’ve gone from c20,000 ST holders to the nadir (so far) in 2021/22 of 6,995 - they didn’t bat an eyelid.

Yet crowds are at their highest level across the country for league games since the 1950s, so something is obviously making it hot property despite the product being bloody crap half the time…

‘We’ll see in the summer’, ‘we’ll see in January’. Always another summer, always another January with you. These owners will *never* deliver, never, you need to come to terms with that.

How do you know there’s been no credible offers, 2288? Nobody would be interested in taking over Blackburn Rovers? When we’ve spent three out of the four seasons in and around the play offs for the Premier League? You need two parties at the table, that’s the issue.

These owners aren’t going anywhere at least this decade, so a few would return, but most have long gone (and why wouldn’t they after at least twenty years away, many will have found many different things to do with their time and money, and alas plenty will have popped their clogs if nothing else)

The PL is a totally different beast in 2025 (as is the Championship with the PL loot on offer) than it was in the 2000s. Potential owners are falling over themselves to get involved. Of course there will be suitors for a club with our infrastructure that has spent a hell of a lot of time around the PL play off places in recent years.

How many jobs come up for a team in the play off places for a spot in the Premier League with a dozen games to go? Not bloody many, so think of the options in jobs or otherwise , the agents putting their man’s CV’s in, the rising stars in England or overseas, so get out there and bring in a top operator to secure that top 6… yet they give this mon a deal to 2028, bet he couldn’t believe his luck (especially as we certainly don’t bother getting players tied down to such contracts). Another let’s say, ‘odd’ decision at VenkyRovers…

United giving him a ten year deal to be their number four keeper sounds like the kind of mad thing that could happen in the weird world of modern football…

Islander we all get your point, we all get why the fee was crap for him in January 2024, but all that would have been irrelevant if we didn’t bundle him out the door as soon as we could. The cards were obviously not stacked in our favour at that stage of his career, he was still building a reputation within the game that would have led to more suitors and ergo a higher fee - so don’t sell him yet would have been the obvious decision… but we needed cash and quick, Palace sniffed out a distressed seller, so we got what we got and the leccy bill was paid.

Obviously players wouldn’t run through brick walls for a manager just because they were a top player, for every Kenny or Cruyff there’s a Rooney or Bobby Charlton. You either have it or you don’t regardless of who you were.

You sniffed out a club that needed a quick sale to pay its bills and bagged yourself a bargain before he became a bigger name, fair play. But thinking it’s down to some crack scouting team when he’d been a star man whilst only a teenager in a team that had been knocking around the Championship play offs, aye ok.

I’ve no issue with every club across the divisions getting their games shown, obviously part of the deal, and rightly so. It’s the seven games on a Saturday, all at 12.30, yet just one on a Sunday that makes absolutely no sense.

Might have led to ‘outrage’, but it would still make far more sense for the clubs, the EFL and Sky themselves than having four L1/L2 games kicking off at 12.30 hidden away on the red button, where’s the ‘exposure’ there?

As well as the crackers situation of seven live games all kicking off at half 12 on a Saturday…

As usual Gav on this issue you seem to always be arguing a different point than me. I’m not remotely ‘talking the support down’, we have good support. And of course games when the team is riding high will see more walks ons, especially in the run in, why wouldn’t it? But at these prices we will only get sustained (I.e every week) big crowds when we go up, just the way it is as you aren’t selling substantially more STs in this division at these prices. None of that is the fanbases fault - shame the owners aren’t interested in the going up part.

No we haven’t been ‘given plenty of notice’, four weeks is ‘plenty’? Saying ‘we’ll give you four weeks notice’ without knowing what fixtures will actually be moved isn’t helping anybody logistically. For away fans it means they will have either lost a fortune on rail tickets or you decide to wait until the last minute to book in case it gets moved… and still end up paying a fortune (yes, yes, you like to drive so that doesn’t bother you one bit, but a lot of folk like to get the train as they enjoy the day out with a few beers in a different town or city). Or even for home games, as guess what, other people (again, I know, not you) have, you know, other social things planned in advance at a weekend outside just going to Ewood.

Obviously he wasn’t as even that Mainoo was ahead of him and where’s he disappeared to? No queue of buyers, so you won’t be getting top dollar and the lad was happy here - but let’s sell anyway 👏
