The last census shows that the town of Blackburn (not the wider BwD borough) is now around 50% south Asian. So the club has to engage. We are facing two existential issues, the support base within the town itself is reducing due to large demographic change, with the match going fanbase as a result stretching further and further across other boroughs. The club has realised the town of Blackburn issue, and Yasir and team are doing sterling work to address it. However on the wider fanbase issue the club seems to have its head in the sand as to where a growing percentage of match goers now reside (though a quick scan on a ST holder spreadsheet would tell you that). We need to see engagement across the Ribble Valley, South Ribble, Hyndburn and beyond, not just a token gesture in a few primary schools within the arbitrary drawn BwD borders. As an aside, does the club have a target? I.e ‘10% of ST holders to be from an Asian background by 2030’ etc? Because noble as Yasir’s work and being a ‘community champion’ is, the overall aim has to bums on seats and to ensure a future for the town’s grand old football club.

They were the more successful of the clubs in their city until a certain Bill Shankly emerged…

‘How shit must you be we’re winning at home/away’ etc. is another real motivator for your players, I imagine!

It’s a club that can’t even be arsed with a programme never mind a risky (for Swag’s bonus) ST campaign.

I’m afraid he’s fooling plenty. Talk to supporters that don’t come on here. Plenty have only vaguely heard of him and don’t really have an opinion but are or aren’t aware of the bloke most would pin our revenue/commercial problems on ‘shit fans’, who ‘don’t get behind the club’.

Are they normally a year away from a new stadium?

Us fans might, not sure the club will have any regrets. They have written this season off after all….

Why? Because a club probably going into February sitting 4th has already ‘written the season off?’

If it keeps them up when they are a year away from moving into a new stadium then it’s obviously going to solve a lot of problems in the medium term.

As you all know I generally think the commercial operation is bloody shite. But I’ve been in the Premier Suite twice on match days fairly recently and think it certainly stands up to a lot of clubs offerings.

I suppose in theory it’s only one season ‘pathway block’ with a loanee, not a permanent 27 year old on a three year deal… but of course another loanee will come in next season anyway. So in reality it’s loanee= cheap. Three year deal for an experienced player = not cheap.

Me too. But I certainly don’t just parrot what ex players, managers, DofFs say on a forum instead of my own views. What’s the point of that on a fans message board?

The club certainly will, be interesting to see what ST renewals are like though (especially at those prices).
