v Leicester City (a) - 28/02/23 (FA Cup 5th Round)

Of course not or it would have been chosen as the main TV game (Citeh, obvs). -
Ha, of course we wouldn’t. Getting promoted is everything, but a play off trophy isn’t ‘major’ (we had one of those in 1992, by the way) Difference is we all remember winning actual major trophies, so we don’t need to scratch around to compile that very sad list. This is ‘little owd Burnley’ on steroids. Though I suppose it still beats the post 1930s PNE ‘We had Finney once’… ‘and we get to wear bowler hats because of something Alan Ball once said’ honours board…

If Chelsea hadn’t have come calling he would’ve been a shoe in for the England job (only 18 months until Southgate goes remember) Could well be damaged goods now after he’s inevitability ‘potted’ over the next few weeks… stil think of the payout for less than 6 months work. -

‘6 or 7 quality signings’ sounds like ‘wholesale changes’ to me… -
He’s done well for himself, pivotal roles in Game of Thrones and Narcos, now the lead in two mega shows in The Mandalorian and Last of Us…

Behave! Loser mentality. You have to constantly improve in football, especially with a financial windfall. -

Bugger that! That lot winning yet another League Cup won’t even register, be forgotten by next week. The Geordie Nation™️ win something and you’ll never hear the end of it… -

But, but the Newcastle fans *deserve* success 😭 -
They’ve tried that before, never much take up.

He wasn’t here, that was Venus’ job (along with real estate director) -
I’d say so. The first team squad is staying down in the midlands until the game, so that probably explains why Wharton is the only one that’s been around the first team playing today.

‘It’s a big, top end of the table game so we’ll have 12k fans on’… if that’s not unintended take down of a decade of Venky misrule I don’t know what is…

It is possible, that’s where my head initially went to, but just thinking of other announcements they’ve made they often suffix with ‘… and a further year option until June 202x’ -

Think you are right rigger, they do normally say if there’s an option. GB best get cracking then! -
I’ve no problem in you saying you are better than everyone else, Dave. you are. I’ve been more 🙄 with Longers’ and sympatheticclaret’s ‘little owd Burnley’ routine. You’ve ‘rubbed folk up the wrong way’ by acting like an obnoxious arse most weeks. Carry on posting like the above and no problem.

From the ‘at least’, maybe it’s we are just making out we want him to stay even longer, or it could be hinting at an option which seems to be the norm these days. If he has an *option* until 2025, we’ve seen repeatedly that this ends up with the club lazily triggering it whilst resting on its laurels, a players stock rising and them buggering off for nowt. But if there is no option, so a next summer expiry, with GB now in situ I imagine a la Buckley (who earlier this season re-signed until 2027, even though he had two years left on his existing deal) negotiations will be underway already. It is now ‘the model’ after all… -
A 3pm KO may well have seen a bumper (ish) gate, a Sky dinner time game at £25-£30 will have put paid to that…

Ha my tongue was superglued to my cheek there!

Would need a season of slapping the likes of Walsall and Wimbledon first…

Again no problem with that. Of course he deserved criticism, and plenty of it. But the calling for his sacking when never more than a point from the top 6 from a substantial number on here up until a few weeks ago? Ridiculous. The fact he’s had more grief already at games than TT got in five years? Bizarre.
-
Having a go at him was fine, par for the course, but the slating he’d had on here (forums can be like that, but more surprisingly from a fair few at Ewood, especially after five years of Teflon Tony) has baffled me; ‘clueless’’, ‘no hoper’ etc. Average budget and players and we’ve not been more than a point from the top 6 all season. Not sure what more he could’ve done?
-
I’d be all for bundles if they sold well, they just don’t here. Not unfair to have an odd game at £10, Bournemouth was (with similar priced STs) in the run-in last season, we’ve always done it in years gone by (even in the pre ‘Taking Back Ewood’ PL days). Obviously you don’t take the piss with it, but one targeted and publicised game - Oxford another example. Get folk back in the tent, get them on the database, marketing 101.
-
Take it that when it’s moved tickets will be £20? As it’s what they did for Blackpool and Wigan (moved from Cat A to Cat C) when the games changed from a weekend fixture…

Was anybody charged? Take it The Observer is not bothering with due process?
