Edun, like JRC, is dreadful. They’d be the first two out the door this summer for me. Neither are adequate back up for Brittain or Pickering. Frankly, I’d have rather we kept Bell than got Edun who has a strange ability to be equally as shite no matter which of his four positions (left back, left wing back, central midfield, left winger) he plays. He’s the football equivalent of the handyman that comes in to repair things at student houses whilst at Uni. Not qualified in anything specific, can’t really do the job and you can only accept their work if you’re willing to only squint at it or turn a blind eye.

I’m surprised at some of the Hirst comments, I thought he was really good today and something we’ve been missing. He ran the channels, got in behind, would have scored other than a deflection. A good debut and plenty of promise.

Only Pickering got less. We where average all over the pitch today. Need to get some first team players back on the pitch ASAP and perhaps a formation change. Today my half time changes would have been: Kaminski Carter Phillips Hyam Dolan Travis Morton Pickering Dack Brereton Hirst That would have been Wharton (yellow card after about 5 minutes) and Hedges (wasn’t up to speed) off for Dolan and Phillips. Looks like defensive subs but the formation change would have improved us.

Just taken an early dart after seeing Edun belt a very simple ball into the Riverside. JDT is missing a lot of key players but we’re not getting the fundamentals right. Travis must play midfield. If we need someone to cover right back it must be Carter. Dack must feel very hard done by being subbed off. If that is the Brereton we are getting until the end of the season we should have accepted any bids on Thursday.

Pickering is getting doubled up on, in some cases trebled. He’s not playing well but he’s also being left isolated.

Well... 1) GB & JDT felt that we didn't need a replacement for Zeefuik and that Brown wasn't up to the standard. Brittain is clearly first choice, I would assume Carter is second and then we plan to use Buckley/Travis as cover if needed. 2) GB & JDT felt that despite Markanday coming back from injury, we needed another striker. A lot of pressure is on Hirst to deliver in that role, he's never played in this league. 3) GB & JDT don't want two 'bruisers' in central midfielder. Travis fills this role and as captain will start every game. If he's injured I wonder what the plan would be. 4) We have a lot of central defensive options - Ayala, Wharton, Hyam, Carter, Phillips, Mola - perhaps a signal of 3 at the back? 5) GB & JDT thought the squad was slightly too big last season.

I’m not sure I have. Bradley Johnson was imposing. He never shirked a tackle and had a full mans frame. He was big, tall and he was strong… and clever with how he played central midfield. He might not have been mobile or quick anymore but I guarantee he wins almost every 50/50 with both Wharton and Garrett. Wharton and Garrett will both grow into their frames. But right now there will be midfielders in this league that will bully Wharton/Buckley/Morton/Garrett. Like Sheffield United did. I predict we will see this in the derby games. Equally, there will be midfields in this league that Wharton, Buckley, Morton and Garrett can embarrass playing around them, because they’re superb footballers.

I don’t think Wharton or Garrett can have the physical impact on a game that Bradley Johnson could. And potentially Davenport could. Bradley especially was a top level pro. His legs had gone, but everything else was still there including experience which only comes from the decade of top level football.

Let’s say we sold him for 12M today and the owners took back 7M, leaving us 5M. Do you expect we will have 5M to replace BBD specifically come Summer next year? Not a 5M budget, I mean 5M for one player.
