  1. Thinking again of that game Waggy, we had no tickets we simply turned up on the day, paid in cash and sat in whatever stand suited us, surrounded by Everton supporters who never bothered us (possibly because we were outclassed!) Those were the days!
  2. Went to that one, can't remember what stand. I thought there was such a gap in class then I could never imagine us coming back there 20 years later and winning! We did think we'd scored first but it was rightly disallowed for a push as I recall.
  3. They never bought Rovers as a stand alone business set apart from their main industry---chickens! That leads me to believe that it was always a means of writing off losses and not costing Venkys much in real terms. The problem is that their incompetence has created losses far bigger than expected.
  4. One sure outcome--the fans will get the blame for Rovers inability to pay decent wages of transer fees.
  5. Easily avoided though. Simply----- don't try to cheat the tax authorities
  6. So is the Women's team defunct ( I use the word advisedly) or not?
  7. Same here but I fear it's because I still can't let go! 😭
  8. I wonder if he thought it was his responsibility to help save the Club?
  9. The Guardian had a great description of his laid-back style a week or 2 back. Their reporter described him as "playing like he had both hands in his pockets." Perfect!
  10. I was at that game! Fantastic win. Very Sparton surroundings for us visitors though!
  11. So we had to sell Wharton there and then for whatever we could get because the owners don't fund us? Had we waited till summer we'd have got way more for him and Venkys would have got more than their money back. But its not the way things are done at Rovers. Incidentally Palace have survived 2 periods in administration so I don't see why we wouldn't come back stronger as well. Worth it to get rid of the tyranny of Venky ownership.
  12. but the fee wasn't right for us.
  13. You're saying it was her choice and we have no need to grumble?
  14. It wasn't a game for him to show his attributes unfortunately because Palace were so much on the defensive. He did make some useful interventions though.
  15. Henderson made 6 or 7 saves. Penalty and one where I was sure it was going in the highlights. The rest were high quality too. Agree with your general point though and I'm happy to see pace and width coming back. The ball pulled back from the byeline is still the most dangerous in football.
  16. though I cannot believe that Henderson stayed on the pitch....extraordinary.
  17. Quite a few of the "lesser" teams play that way in the Premier League now, or they try to----Wolves, Bournemouth, Brentford, Forest, Fulham. That's what I was arguing last week--EPL much more enjoyable to watch these days.
  18. True to a great extent but City should have won that game--missed several chances they'd usually take though Henderson was superb. Haaland was poor. I usually find Palace's style more to my liking, they score some great goals but they were camped in their own half yesterday. Looked more like a Div 1 team with the odd excursion upfield.
  19. If they owned Chelsea they'd simply demolish it and put apartments up.
  20. He's a fantastic advocate for Rovers. I wonder if Venkys will ever hear his words? They should be ashamed.
  21. The minutes target is a diversionary tactic, youngsters are going to be thrown in at the deepens because they are cheap and we haven't signed adequate replacements
