  1. The whole Nyambe thing on Saturday just didn't sit right. When he came off he sat on the perimeter wall by the dugout with only Damien Johnson in shot with him. He clearly didn't go back to the changing room for treatment and didn't appear to have any ice on his hamstring. Then Mowbrays wild assertion post match that he might be out for months and yesterday we learn he could be fit for Wednesday. Very strange.
  2. There is a new development going on close to me and through a friend who knows the people who sold the land I was told they got £60k per plot. The Ribble Valley would be higher I guess but some of the ridiculous figures being banded about are, I suspect wide of the mark.
  3. This is what Mowbray said post match on Saturday about Nyambe: "I’m also more worried about Nyambe," he added post-match. "Somebody we have talked a lot about this week - a kid who works excessively hard and needed a break and yet the world seemed to question why Nyambe wasn’t playing - has now broken down and might be out for months. "It's his hamstring, you have to protect your players and people should just let the manager do their job." Now he might be fit for Wednesday. Moral of the story - Mowbray is a gobshite.
  4. I stand to be corrected but some of the clubs who have given up Academy status only play friendlies. Huddersfield downgraded their Academy for financial reasons and this could well be us in the near future. I have a recollection of the Academy costing £3m each season but that was a figure from a few years ago. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/huddersfield-town-set-overhaul-academy-13629038
  5. One of the most irksome things about this is the almost underhanded way it has been done so far and, once again the shadowy figures lurking in the background. The naivete of some is astounding. If the downgrade goes ahead Rovers will be worse off, there's no going back. Just imagine the possibility of swapping our fantastic training ground for Mowbray to bring in another Brereton or Gallagher with the money.
  6. Just reading some of the excellent posts in this thread has got me wondering if the club would be happy to dispense with the Academy in the long run and focus on the seniors and under 23's. JHRovers terrific, detailed post shows it's nigh on impossible to do what they are saying in the proposal.
  7. I was referring to the quality of play and results which as far as I am concerned is the product.
  8. If the Venus theory is proven that will be akin to what Anderson did. I'm sick to death of people making lots of money out of my club whilst the product deteriorates.
  9. The pitch usage at both TC's is rotated to save them wearing out and keep them in good nick which is why there are so many, that is common at most training grounds. Fewer pitches means more use and rapid deterioration. I think pitch quality is one of the Cat One criteria.
  10. It isn't 30 years old, that's what the club put out yesterday and were wrong. A legacy is there to be respected and the woman Venky said they would respect Jacks legacy when they bought the club. Now, by selling one of the jewels in the crown they (and the likes of Waggott) are disrespecting us. Do you honestly think the money will be reinvested in the playing side? I'd wager it goes to offest losses. I think you're being incredibly naive. Do your know the Cat one status will be guaranteed after this move?
  11. Jack Walkers legacy being respected? Do you really believe this is progressive? How will it benefit the club?
  12. In my view the manager of any football club is the most important employee. All of our managerial appointments under this lot have, with perhaps one exception been on the cheap. Pretty much all out of work, damaged reputations and fallen stock. For the next appointment they have to push the boat out and get the very best available. When you think how much they have spunked on trash, second rate managers it's scary. That said I don't for one minute think they will get rid of Mowbray.
  13. I was secretly hoping it was the resignation note of Mowbray and his staff.
  14. I haven't read this whole thread and I'm sure it will have been mentioned but in a strange season I found something I saw bizarre. Lowe called Nyambe over and appeared to read something to him from a scrap if paper which was strange enough but then Nyambe called a few players together, spoke to them and showed them the note. All of this was during a break in play whilst Mowbray and Venus were playing statues. I'd love to know what was written on that piece of paper.
  15. I firmly believe we have a top six squad (when all are fit) but a mid table manager. The early season for saw us with a style of playing, a method which really suited the players and there was a nice balance. Since the early, successful part of the season Mowbrays muddled thinking has taken over and things have become over complicated and we became a side with no identity again. His seemingly random team selections, tactics, set up and substitutions have had us all scratching our heads at times. Recent performances are a stark contrast to early season. The intensity, press and pace which was winning us games and scoring lots of goals has disappeared and we are back to being mundane, slow and predictable. I'm certain any potential new manager would be attracted by looking at the squad and knowing the potential. However I do understand that with lots of loans and out of contract players this summer could once again see a massive upheaval.
  16. These idiots who think it's good news are labouring under some misapprehension that the money will be spent on the playing side. I'd wager now that not a penny of that money will go back into the club for improvement.
  17. I wonder how this could affect the Academy status? Surely one of the main criteria for Category One is having separate facilities to develop players.
  18. As many have alluded to this just kicks another of Jack Walkers investments and legacies into the long grass. That is the saddest aspect for me. Shysters like Waggott are simply disrespecting everything that Jack did for the club and town. And the owners have overseen a decade of scaling down but this is unforgivable and they are shameless, arrogant people. What next? Melting Jacks statue down for scrap.
  19. Rocking in our rocking chairs Nick 😁😁😁😁.
  20. This has the feel of a dead rubber, end of the season game in bloody mid February. I'm shocked about that but it's how I feel
  21. Having just seen a post on the music association thread I was reminded of this one to the tune of Terry Jacks song called Seasons in the Sun. We had joy, we had fun We had Burnley on the run But the fun didn't last Cos the b******* ran too fast.
  22. If you took what was clearly joke seriously then that's up to you.
  23. The best of what? We owe VLL nigh on £200m, we are haemorrhaging money, we are a mid table Championship club, we have lost thousands of supporters, we have no leadership etc etc. So excuse me if I don't want to make the best of it.
  24. I missed the fact he had gone but he achieved some good things for the clubs whilst in the role. https://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/national-league-statement-ceo-michael-tattersall-t-64622
  25. It will be interesting from many aspects. Promotion, relegation, TV contracts/monies and players contracts will be under intense scrutiny and there will be winners and losers. It's a sad situation and could signal the death knell for many clubs.
