  1. There was a clear penalty for Brentford yesterday that wasn't even referred to the referee for an OFR. And the VAR was Michael Oliver who is our best referee. I honestly don't know where Howard Webb goes with this now as the hole has been dug too deep. I saw a list yesterday of apologies for VAR errors which is scary. Imagine the effect that all these have on the final league table and ultimately could cost a club millions. https://www.sportingnews.com/uk/football/news/var-apology-list-premier-league-pgmol-referee-mistakes/hhw8byssj025djuce3gbd2pp
  2. What nonsense.
  3. I think Leicester are the best team in the Championship and will win the league but their 4-1 win today flattered them in my opinion. It fine margins sometimes and if Travis (who I thought played well today) doesn't hesitate and takes his shot earlier we could have been level. Instead within a couple of minutes they get a penalty and go 3-1 up and pretty much game over. Once again we didn't cover ourselves in glory defensively as Leicester played swift counter attacks. I don't like losing but I'm not too down after today unlike the Ipswich game. I think either Hill or Scott Wharton deserve a chance to play simply because of the number of goals we are shipping. Hopefully we can get something on the road next week to cheer us all up.and I still have total faith in Tomasson.
  4. There is a story this morning that the VAR and AVAR in the Spurs v Liverpool match actually thought a goal had been awarded and therefore said 'check complete' to the on field officials thinking they were merely confirming the award of the goal. How on earth can they not be aware that the AR had his flag up clearly giving Diaz offside. It beggars belief. Apparently they realised their error once the game had restarted but clearly the law doesn't allow for them to go back once the game has restarted. Honestly I'm staggered at this level of incompetence. I feel sorry for Howard Webb here. He is doing his level best to improve things by being open and transparent but he simply doesn't have the quality of officials at his disposal. The offside aspect of VAR is actually an exact science so to get it wrong is unforgivable. As an old friend used to say to me 'you can't weave without weft'.
  5. Rovers under 21's were heavily beaten by the Rags today and they fully deserved to win but the game turned on a controversial decision. With the score at 2-2 a United player jumped in two footed on Duru and was only cautioned when for me it was a clear red card. Within a minute or two the perpetrator was substituted which is always a sign that the player was extremely lucky. The incident seemed to rattle Rovers and United took advantage of this and scored another three goals. As I said they deserved to win but if they had rightly gone down to ten men it could have been completely different.
  6. Honestly? So you won't be watching the game because of who the goalkeeper is?
  7. After Pears contributed more than any other player to our defeat at Ipswich I really am surprised he is starting. I have defended Pears and understood Tomasson's persistence with him but last Saturday was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
  8. I think Tomasson knows a charlatan when he sees one and doesn't suffer fools. He demands high standards from his players and staff, if they don't toe the line then they are out. In my view that's how he views Swag but his powers don't allow him to get him out of the door.
  9. And no doubt his PA will be booking his first class travel to London for the game at Chelsea and overnight accommodation in a plush hotel. And his cohorts will probably be afforded the same. He will also be lording it up in the Directors Box. If they wanted to set an example they should board a coach with the supporters at Ewood and bloody well pay for it themselves.
  10. So Swag isn't even replying to supporters emails himself but allowing his PA (a f****** PA for him when we are skint btw) to do so in his behalf. This has been such an emotive subject and if he had any sense he would respond directly to each email with a call or at the very least an return email explaining his rationale. His cowardly cop out sums him up.
  11. A great nights entertainment at Ewood for everyone that went with some terrific individual performances. The pick of the bunch were Moran and Markanday who both oozed class. For most of the game we were playing quick, incisive attacking football and some of it was a joy to behold. I thought Cardiff were decent too going forward but suspect defensively as we forced errors with the best pressing game we have played for a while. I really like the look of Sigurdsson whose movement in the penalty area was clever. His near post runs from out to in were something we haven't had for a while and caused Cardiff lots of problems. There was so much to enjoy and be pleased about tonight although I was a little narked with the two goals we conceded which were poor in our part and an occasional lapse when we conceded cheap possession. Just to add by my reckoning in the eight league games and three cup mtaches so far this season there have been fifty goals. That's entertainment.
  12. Meanwhile a few miles down the road at little Accrington Stanley the annual shirt giveaway to every year 3 school kid in Hyndburn has begun. They also get a goody bag with items that have been sponsored by local companies.
  13. Would they be able to print tickets? I honestly don't know.
  14. The club can't receive emails and the website has been down all day. How convenient.
  15. All four stands closed tonight and Swag is blameless. 😂😂
  16. They are giving members 15% off pre match in the Blues Bar in lieu of members not being able to use it at half time. Joined up thinking at its best 🤔
  17. Question: How do you deter supporters from buying tickets to keep the attendance low in order to justify a tosser's decision? Answer: Crash the main source for fans wanting to buy tickets. My suspicions are aroused by the official website being down all today. Nobody can buy tickets online or contact the club by email. How many times has this happened in the past? How hard would it be to fix it? I'm probably wide of the mark but such is my mistrust of Swag and his cohorts I just can't help thinking there is something devious going on.
  18. Some will, some won't. The wider point being made is that in the current climate Rovers cannot afford to lose any supporters but Swag seems intent on doing just that.
  19. How do you know that supporters who are Riversiders haven't gone because their stand is shut? Just because there are no posts on here about it doesn't mean that it hasn't happened. Your second and third have no relevance to the discussion.
  20. It's Sw4gg0tt@rovers.co.uk
  21. Lots of people are creatures of habit and want to sit in the same seat they have had for years. Personally speaking that wouldn't bother me but I fully understand and appreciate the supporters that do. And more importantly Swag should understand and respect that too. And once it's happened it will happen time and again for Carabao and FA Cup earlier round games. Swag doesn't understand people, particularly local people and their habits.
  22. I hope the funeral goes as well as it can do.
  23. Did you see yesterday's game to pass off your 'aren't competitive' comment? Several yellow cards, crunching tackles, good intensity and commitment. This is where players learn more about the game than anything else and looking at the Rovers players disappointment yesterday I can tell you that losing hurt them.
  24. Winning games breeds a winning mentality. With your stance we might as well not have an under 21 team. They will develop more playing competitive games rather than your proposal of friendlies and training sessions.
  25. I have always felt being respectful is a far better way to make your point. The fact he shows little regard for us is irrelevant in my book. I personally don't want to stoop that low.
