It feels like (purely based off interviews etc) that JDT would be pushing a winning mentality on the squad, rather than TM's shoulder shrug and "we'll turn up and see what happens" Obviously a few things need to change/improve from the Mowbray era but hopefully JDT isn't driving us all crazy with team selections, players out of position, lack of training on set pieces and a footballing philosophy that doesn't have much in the way of formations. He's already put one fear the rest recently, where he's said he doesn't want possession for the sake of it, nor does he want us just pointlessly passing it around at the back. It's an exciting day for sure to see how he sets us up etc. Pre season didn't give that many clues due to the mixed teams used in most games.

Which, importantly, sounds like he's the right type of player for the way JDT wants to play.

His appointment was never going to provide an instant, quick fix. Add in that he still has a few weeks left of the window to go. Not ideal that we still need plenty of signings and the season starts tomorrow admittedly but players will be signing before the deadline approaches.

He's shown very little of anything over the last couple of seasons. Injuries won't have helped but in the time he has been on the pitch he's not done much. Needs to get away from the RB/WB spot but I wouldn't have a clue where to play him.

He only got 15mins in their last friendly, came on at half time and then off on the hour. JDT has repeatedly said we will be playing with a high intensity, winning the ball back quickly when out of possession, there is no way we can take a casual style CM, he's going to need to graft. I don't know anything about him tbh but surely we've done our homework enough to be sure he fits the style we are trying to implement?

He was the obvious choice really. Think Ayala had the armband at one point in preseason but as we'll only get 10 games out of him in a season, doesn't seem like a sensible choice.

Yeah definitely. Although I hate Newcastle and want them to fail unceremoniously with their new found wealth, the top 6 were quick to get some new rules pushed through to stop Newcastle spending stupid amounts. Pretty sure they were the main reasons the Newcastle takeover was delayed for so long.

Yeah I read that. What was it? Premier League will chuck us a few more scraps from the table but we had to be contractually obliged to play some of their U23's, develop them and get very little in return. "Greed has ruined football", never a truer word has been spoken.
