Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
DE. replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Hull early this season probably the best/only choice in terms of a game we dominated? They were ravaged by illness though, which is probably why. Last season under Ismael we also beat Millwall 4-1 somewhat randomly, although it was after we'd tanked our playoff hopes yet again, so more a last hurrah for the nearly men before most of them got shipped out. -

It’s going to be another defeat, Im sure of that. Under normal circumstances, the upside would be the pathetic record of the manager, would mean at least that would be the end, but of course, as we all know, that will not be the case. Rovers will not score, so it’s just a matter of how many we lose by for me. -

If you think you’ve got some sort of secret, either just keep it entirely to yourself or just spill it - don’t play games like the last sentence. I’m sure we’re all fucked off with Rovers at the moment, we don’t need blue balls. Goes without saying we all want / need a new ownership scenario (Mercer never backed up his rumour on that btw, another dick tease) but I think it’s easy to see at this point just how bad Valerien Ismael is. Of course there are some viable excuses like injuries or referee performances but they’re excuses at the end of the day. Have we ever looked like running away with a game? We look disorganised, sluggish, clueless with the ball in the final third, timid at defensive set pieces, useless at attacking set pieces. is there a single player you can say he’s improved? I think you could argue Pratt, but then he says yes to a loan left sided centre back (who looks way out of shape btw) and drops the actual “asset”. I think it’s fair to give people time and chances, I’d apply the same thing to the DOF, but it’s quite clear the lot of them are nowhere near up to it; If we stay up it’ll be a miracle. -

So here we are - facing Swansea and having to start Alebiosu (with a high risk of him getting injured) because our options on both RWB and LWB are so poor that without Alebiosu, we will probably lose. We can't afford to lose this one. With Norwich regaining form under Clement, it will probably be a fight between us, Oxford and Portsmouth on who gets to follow Sheff Wed down. It looks like Oxford have recruited fairly well and could get a new manager bounce, whilst Mousinho is expecting quite a few through the door at Portsmouth as well. I had us in 23rd in my table prediction, and I sincerely hope I was wrong. -

Cashin looked completely immobile and incapable of playing in that role imo. Shocked that we’ve signed another slow defender. -

Keep hearing this, and not trying to have a go but........Alebiosu and Gudjohnssen have obviously been big misses, who else do you think that's unavailable would make THAT much of a difference? -
Seen enough of Henriksson for now. Very ineffective in that forward role. If Ohashi is knackered and Jorgensson not fully fit, I'd like to see what Tyjon has to offer in the next two games. The other youngsters have been great when called upon. Nothing to lose if his only other option is to persist with Henriksson. Odd to me that Arsenal can see something in Tyjon, but VI can't, or is he following instructions from Gestede to not pick him?

Definitely missing some key players that would improve the first team, but I think to me it's more that the team doesn't seem to have a particular approach or plan and that Ismael is sending the players out like lambs to the slaughter. Maybe that's simply down to missing so many players, but there's no real identity to how the team want to play, no plan as such. Its just a bunch of athletes who can run around a lot and do very little with the ball. -
We wouldnt beat many league one or two sides with the dross we have ATM

We have 13 guys missing out vs swans. I’m not a huge Ismael fan or a detractor, but we couldn’t beat many L1 teams with this many first teamers out. -
West Brom's home form has been decent, away atrocious. Suspect their managerial appointment could go either way. If he's ok they should be fine with that squad but if he's not up to the job - and it continues to baffle me why some clubs have this obsession with finding the next 'big thing' rather than going with tried and tested - it could spiral rapidly. We need them to because Swansea look like they have enough to get out of it and pretty much everyone else bar Portsmouth and Charlton are showing signs of having enough about them. Exciting times for the project.

I might be mis-remembering facts here, but didn't we gain most of our wins during the time Cantwell was out with his mystery knee injury?
