Where are Rovers old grounds?
RevidgeBlue replied to StubbsUK's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Don't think "the incline" would have stretched anywhere near as far up as the the Dog Inn and Revidge. Maybe part of the way. There's a mild incline from Leamington Rd up to St Silas's Rd then it gets a lot steeper the other side of St. Silas's Rd. Don't think we need to look any further than shirt of two halves excellent post and Roger B's dilligent sleuthing -
Take shots?

That is a big, big shame and blow to the new found momentum. Toth has been magnificent this season - his match winning save at the weekend for example. Glass half full....Pears may see this as a chance to put himself in the shop window and therefore actually put on a good show? (Ability permitting....) Hoping Wharton is not out for an equally long time.

I had a quick look at that again last night and found a 2008 LT article from Andy Nield saying the "deal" was off with someone purporting to be Williams saying Rovers wanted too much money etc etc. At the time there was no trace whatsoever of Williams or his Company or any of his business activities on the Internet nor any photos of him, the only photo purporting to be him was that single College graduation style snap. Nield's article said that Williams' partners would have been a Connetticut based venture capital Company called Plainfield Asset mananagement. A search of Plainfield Asset Management now on Wikipedia shows that that it is a defunct Company started in 2005, was wound up in 2012 and by 2008 was "93% illiquid" with Customers barred from withdrawing their investment. I thought at the time, and am even more convinced in light of the above, it was a complete hoax, if anyone thinks different, that's fine.

Pears had a great Run of form before his injury and should be ready .. anyone know anything on Wharton injury? -
Rob Edwards supposedly been approached by Wolves. Have to think that'd be a big blow for Boro after their best start to a season in decades.

Losing Toth is a tragic blow. It looked innocuous. They’re always the worst

150th Anniversary kit/celebrations
RevidgeBlue replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's evidence that a motion might have been passed at some point It's not evidence that we ever actually wore the kit. It's a bit like convicting someone of murder on the basis that they said they were going to do it 12 months previously with zero actual evidence they eventually followed up on the threat. In any event, even if we did start in a white kit, we know we did swap to blue and white halves so it seems the founders must not have liked the white and swapped to the blue and white halves as a nod to their old school colours. We dont know if we played in a white kit at all, for a week, a month, a season, or just as a temporary measure because the blue and white ones weren't ready. We do know we were in blue and white halves by 1898 and of course they could have been in use for some time prior to that so if the white shirt ever existed at all, it must have proved unpopular (with the founders) and been an extremely short lived thing. But hey, let's use it as an anniversary shirt 150 years later. -

The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.
Tomphil2 replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He proved himself a decent enough cover keeper before so lets hope it's the same again. Biggest worry apart from the obvious is his lack of pre season and game time but lets be honest this couldn't have come at a worse time with this game on Sat and high flying nob end looming on the horizon. -

This should be a day when the fans are positive despite the bad injury news. We need to support Pears and every other player on the pitch for the Rovers. Don’t get embroiled in booing the opposition manager and players, it’s usually counterproductive. -

Went to Cov away and nipped in their store. The quality of items and stuff in there was world's apart from ours. Had it been rovers items I'd of spend loads in there -
I'm not sure we are set up to protect the keeper much with our current system. Toth made match winning saves against both Southampton & Leicester, not saves I'd be expecting Pears to make. No one would be blaming Pears if either of those chances went in but that's the difference between the 2 keepers. Toth makes those , Pears doesn't.

150th Anniversary kit/celebrations

How quickly can you turn around a white kit with a blue maltese cross, with a 135/15 logo on the inside, sold with an independent assessment of the last 15 years of Venkys ownership, at less than £90? I notice rumoured 150th anniversary kit has no trademarked items on it. -
Yeah and we ended up relegated during that period then the owners had to do several costly full audits of everything. Oh and they wasted money employing then sacking Owen Cole and some no mark grifter called Senior. If ever there was an advert for a real CEO that was it and we didn't even get one of those so no wonder the club wet nowhere whilst wasting millions upon millions. Why do they think everyone is stupid ?

Only at this club would they still employ someone who messed up his entire pre season due to an alleged vanity project. He should've been sacked. -
Presuming Waggott is still being paid so the half a million won't be off the payroll until next summer
-
Great place to advance your career though. From arranging kids coaches to Head of Commercial in about two years, for example…
-
You’d like to think they’d not have signed him without both a diagnosis and a prognosis. Yet here we are…
-
Maybe Suhail could explain why the Club was paying Waggott £400k a year for 7 .5 years if his role could effectively be made obsolete simply by the remaining staff at the club picking up his duties and the slack. Because unless I've missed it that's all that has happened here. Another half a mill a year off the payroll and no senior management / board appointments since then. This all supports my theory that they have never and will never want a proper Chairman or CEO. They didn't want one from the word 'go' which is why John Williams was pushed aside and allowed to resign. We then had the charade with Paul Hunt being appointed 'deputy' CEO but no CEO. We then had Shaw as 'Managing Director' for a few years effectively semi-retired. Then another few years with nobody, just Myers, Cheston and shadow man doing bits. It was only when Mowbray got direct access to the family in India and insisted on getting in a CEO that they succumbed and let him bring his mate from Coventry in. Even then he had this weird double act with the shadow man never far away. This club will never, ever prosper or succeed whilst the people owning and running it refuse to take its management seriously. Any serious football club needs a capable, intelligent, driven, empowered board or at least Chair / CEO to run the organisation. We haven't had that in 15 years and won't do any time soon because they just don't take this seriously. The fact we now have senior management comprising Suhail, Gestede, Yasir Sufi and Lyndsey Talbot is beyond ridiculous whichever way you look at it.

More games like Bristol City needed, zero shots on target for the opponents.

Awful news. Who knows what version of Pears we will get. Eustace will know how to expose him on Saturday.
