  2. Pep ball morphed into a corruption of what was the pinnacle of modern possession football - for example the Barcelona and Spain teams of Xavi and Iniesta. Even at City, when Mahrez and De Bruyne were at their best, there was a cutting edge. Eventually, it became a negative and self-indulgent fare.
  3. You are not actually reading what people are saying as is often the case. My point about Anderson is that we cant be sure that he is perfectly suited to a role he hasnt really played in senior football, and isnt playing for his club. A few games against poor to awful international sides isnt enough evidence to suggest that against better sides he would be able to be as effective in that particular role. The Gerrard and Lampard example is not a relevant counter argument to my point. I acknowledged that it feels like the team is more balanced with for example an inferior player in Gordon wide left who may not be as good as Foden or Palmer but is an actual left winger rather than a number 10 being squeezed in. My point was that I dont believe that playing most likely a Bellingham OR Palmer OR Foden in any way does imbalance us as opposed to Rogers. Any of the 4 are natural number 10s, the first 3 are just better than Rogers. I also think that Rogers will be dropped before the tournament. Bellingham missed out because he hadnt really been playing, although I am unsure if there is also a personal issue between the 2. Palmer was injured. I think either starts as soon as they are available and ready. The fact that I believe you put Bellingham in your 11 in that position, but I may be wrong, says that you are either not reading what Ive put considering that I am suggesting the exact same thing, or are just trying to create arguments for the sake of it.
  4. There have only been 3 who've held the club to account and JDT was the one who lasted longest, i doubt by choice.
  5. Depends how old the money is. I remember 4 and 6 being half/wing backs.
  6. Does it matter about his role at Forest given that he is playing with a different set of players but he was key player in their success last season which you can't deny RF99! The under 21's tournament was live on channel 4. So I watched every England game thanks Rf99 He has more than shown he is good enough for that role in those games but as ever you are over critical and doubting his undoubtedly quality and talent. Howe was huge fan and didnt want to sell him when they did. The Gerrard and Lampard situation is more than relevant to this point or last tournament when we played Foden on the left in the last tournament. We didnt look balance. Also the team looks more balanced cos you have runners around Kane with 4 players looking to get forward and in behind. Its suits us. Rogers poor form shouldn't matters cos he isn't in poor form for England. I will repeat if Bellingham or Palmer have to left to get the team working together and Kane then so be it
  7. They really couldn't have made Darwen look any more grim. Remember the Punks and Skinheads massing on Darwen Bus station every weekend..Youth culture identity that seems lacking these days.
  8. Without doubt the best day I’ve spent watching Rovers. We had nothing, expected even less and a day many of us will never forget.
  9. Were you not one of those Punks are the start Tony?
  10. Unused ticket. Sadly couldn't make it and missed Hendry's goal in the 1 0 win.
  11. It tends to be extreme either way. There is either great joy at their struggles, or they're lauded for their time here for supposedly holding the club to account.
  12. Not in old money Chaddy. Got to admit I always consider 5 and 6 centre halves, as was always the case.

  14. I dont even think Rogers was very effective yesterday, and hes been poor for Villa. I dont think he can do anything that at least some of those better players cant do. And his only good games in general this season have been for England against really poor opposition, and he hasnt been stand out. Of those other players, the issue has been trying to shoehorn too many similar players in at once. In the past, although hes an inferior player, we didnt have the balance of a pacy Gordon running beyond on the left or someone sat beside Rice letting him run on. Bellingham in terms of style of player I dont think is chalk and cheese with Rogers for example, just much better. With balance around him, there is no reason that he cant play in this team. At the last Euros, he ended up often playing from the left.
  15. Just gonna leave this in here 😆🤣
  16. I agree that Bellingham, Foden and Palmer are all better players. But we need someone who works with Kane and all those three have really struggled. Rodgers might not be as good, but jf hes making the right off the ball runs, pressing etc and therefore getting the best out of Kane then then he has to keep the shirt. Foden is a lost cause imo as he is just so indirect - I just cant see how he fits in at all. Palmer and Bellingham do have more to offer if they commit to giving up the number 10 space and possession of the ball to Kane and focus on running through, but they are naturally very similar to Kane wanting others to make the runs while they take a lot of touches and try to be the offensive pivot. Anyway Tuchel has played it well, putting the onus on them to show they can adapt. Not got many England games to do that though.
  17. That would infuriate me beyond belief
  18. The word Pasha has appeared in this week's Jumbo independent crossword. The clue being a district governor or high official in the Ottoman empire or modern Egyptian kingdom. Is this a word Suhail has adopted for himself or a given name at birth. If the former explains how he sees himself.
  19. Presume this special kit is being worn in the actual match and not just the kickabout after? Watch them rub salt in the wounds and have the Venkys logo emblazoned on it
  20. Ok so it was time to move on after successive coaches couldn't match what he offered to a team and he didn't step up to what was needed from him. However it's really odd they then went like for like in his replacement on the payroll presumably just based on this lad being of bigger more athletic build. But cut from the same lacadaisical cloth and still struggling to fit the style of play...whatever that actually is.
  21. This argument always surprises me as surely we should look at ourselves first and consider the profits that English football has or is currently making from dictatorships and exploitative corporations. That's not to mention our British governments role. Seems to me, once we have got our house in order, we can go and try to sort out the rest of the world.
  22. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cj0e85lm36no Six subs incoming. Can't have those pesky diddy teams crossing the drawbridge.
  23. River didn't have a say in it last time it rained
  24. Cheers Gav. Probably for another thread but I remember Vox Pop like it was yesterday and knew lots of the characters.
