  2. In order to reduce our dependence on advertising income we are trying to diversify our income streams and initiatives such as the new online shop & subscribers are two such methods. The costs of running the site creep up inexorably each year and so knowing that we have a loyal base of subscribers helps us to plan with greater certainty & that enables us to add great new features e.g. the shop, the Match Centre & behind the scenes stuff like better hosting, improved site security & podcast software. We really would like more subscribers, so for every subscriber that is ACTIVE on 31st October we will enter you into a draw to win some really great prizes. These include:- 1. A fabulous unframed Gail Myerscough print of the BBE turnstiles (as seen in our SHOP page) 2. A tee shirt of that design in a colour/size of your choice 3. A mug with that same design on it You can sign up for just £1.99 for the first month - £3.99 per month on renewal or for the best value £39.99 for an annual subscription - so support your favourite Rovers fan site & subscribe today. Thanks everyone…COYB.
  3. There's a legend that part of the school is what was the old pavilion, but I really doubt it, it would have been wooden for a start more than likely. Maybe send Time Team round?
  4. I'm like every one else, I feel like a vital part of my life has been stolen from me. There's a huge void which nothing else can fill. It's like bereavement. .
  5. The minutes of the first two meetings were printed in a Rovers programme in December 1909 as part of a series of articles on the club's history.
  6. Yeah, the technical deficiency across almost the entire squad is a massive concern. These guys need a manager to coach them in the absolute basics and make sure they stick to it. The type who can get the best out of very limited players - kind of like the manager we literally had before the current one. Ismael is for sure not that man and never will be.
  7. Anybody here have a chess.com account? If anyone would like a game my username is noggin_java.
  8. The minutes of the very first meeting of the club (9th November 1875) contained the following: 4. That the colours be : White jersey, blue and white skull cap, trousers optional. Proposed by H. Greenwood. Seconded by R. Higson. The minutes of the meeting the following week (15th November 1875) contained the following: 1. That a Maltese cross be on the left breast in blue. Proposed by W. Baguley. Seconded by A. Constantine.
  9. Love how the "apology" was blatantly written by somebody who has basic literacy skills as opposed to Duffy. Assume the club had a word with him and provided that statement for him to post.
  10. I'm now based in Somerset. I get to 4 or 5 Rovers games a year. For convenience and, to be honest, increasingly due to disassociation with what Rovers has become, I attend a few Exeter City and Bristol City home games each year. Neither feels anything like the same as watching and supporting Rovers. The Bristol City games in particularly make me feel like I'm cheating on a lover!! I'll never feel the same emotion at any other club I watch but, to be honest, the less and less that Rovers feels like "my" club, the less that extra buzz really matters. Its sad but I feel like I'm fighting, with diminishing success, the loss of love for something that used to matter so much to me. One day, I suspect that politely clapping a local team that I don't love as much but who's ownership doesn't treat me, as a supporter, like an idiot will be enough for me to just stop going to Rovers, altogether and to simply listen out in hope for news of ownership change, but little more in the meantime.
  11. Today
  12. If Rovers are away, I'll sometimes wander down and watch Clitheroe. There's a lot I like about it tbh- having a bev in the stand, the rough and tumble of the non-league and the throwback nature of it all. But, I don't know whether this is due to semi-pro nature of it all or not, but I just can't take it that seriously and when they score, it's a mild clap really. I don't get anything like as enthused as I do with Rovers.
  13. Terry Genoe did alot for the club behind the scenes after retiring. He welcomed hundreds of school kids into education schemes and health and fitness in the community all under the Blackburn Rovers football club scheme. He probably developed a heck of alot of future fans back then through that effort.
  14. Yesterday
  15. He did a really good job at Barnsley but Coyle also did a really good job at Burnley. Both have had careers with numerous clubs and otherwise have repeatedly struggled elsewhere which suggests that those spells where the exceptions to the rule. And its not even as if either came here off the back of those 2 good spells, where clubs could be forgiven for expecting them to repeat it. Both joined here with poor reputations, in positions where they would have little or more likely no chance of getting another job at this level, at times where things off the pitch have been particularly bad and weve got poor managers off the scrapheap to compound those issues.
  16. He's certainly one of the first names you'd think SHOULD get a cap once you've got past Crompton/Clayton/Douglas etc. Not the most important thing to worry about at the moment by any means but even leaving Mowbray getting one aside, with all due respect Ian Miller doesn't exactly spring to mind as being a vital recipient, likewise Id pick Roger Jones before Terry Gennoe any day of the week. Hey ho. Hope Harry gets honoured soon.
  17. I'd hazard a guess that it's the same clique as before, just a few new faces.
  18. https://x.com/brfcsdotcom/status/1980890538862866597 This is the best idea I’ve seen - a virtually empty Ewood for the league game, followed by a decent crowd for the Legends game would send a signal - and it would be made clear it was a protest rather than us just being accused of not bothering to turn up
  19. I’m clearly biased but this is one of the best-ever issues outside the special themed ones…worth buying for the cover alone IMO.
  20. Some nice ideas but not feeling the "wear all black". That will go unnoticed and is largely the colour of winter football grounds anyway. Really like the missing 15 years graphic, also agree this needs to hit home in India somehow if at all possible, not Pune. They are mad about English football out there and probably have no idea what Venky's have done to this club. It's time to turn the heat up on the owners... 15 years we've wanted them out for, all they've done in that time is brought shame.
  21. Even though they were all on the scrapheap bar one Lambert had a promotion on his cv, so did Mowbray, JDT had 2 Swedish league titles, i think even Berg had a bit of success somewhere. Even Bowyer went and got a crisis club promoted but what has this fella done anywhere apart from a dozen clubs in a dozen years or something amazing like that ? By the way i don't count getting to the play offs with Barnsley with someone else's squad in covid season as a success it was obviously a bit of a fluke. He's here because he's a yes man with the right connections and will be working cheaper than a lot of others hence the stupid 3 year contract. We are being played by a new little clique of self serving clowns again.
  22. I’ve mentioned before that I live in Hereford and sometimes attend their games. I do it to catch up with friends and have a beer. If a goal goes in I’ll applaud it and if it’s a screamer out of nowhere I might even break a cheer. I certainly don’t get the same buzz as I do watching rovers. I usually manage 4 or 5 games a season and this season will be no different. I’ll be at Preston in November and will also hopefully be at the 150th match. It certainly seems much harder to get excited for a rovers game at the moment though.
  23. is there a list of who are getting the caps i was just wondering if one of my relatives Harry Heallass was on the list i would have thought 360 games and captaining the cup winning side would warrant one , I was out with his grandson last year so he has relations around.
  24. Same. Rovers or nothing for me. That would also rule out any phoenix Club if it set up whilst we were still in existence. As tor Lancashire United.....pfftttt.
  25. What a shame there are no known match photographs of Rovers playing there. You would have also thought the England v Scotland game at the venue would have attracted the national media of the peroid. http://englandfootballonline.com/TeamStadia/England/EngLeamington.html http://englandfootballonline.com/Seas1872-00/1886-87/M0031Sco1887.html#Team
  26. low crowds were across the whole game in that era,the threat of getting your head kicked in put a lot of people off
  27. I wish the ground was still there - I'd only live about 250 yards away! No point me popping round there's no sign of anything whatsoever as far as Im aware - bit weird when you think about it. Of course if brfcs want to invest in some high tech x ray equipment to see what's beneath the tarmac and cobbles? 🙂
