RevidgeBlue Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I can only assume there must be a slight problem between Savage and Sparky at the moment as three substitutes have come on in front of Sav the last two games despite Mokoena being extremely poor and Tugay not much better. Purely from a playing perspective, Savage needs to come back into the side immediately imo and Dunn needs moving into the middle. As for Benni, I wouldn't have sold him under any circumstances in the summer but I'm now getting heartily sick of him, first we had him sulking when not moving to Chelsea, more recently he's been as much use as a chocolate fireguard when dropping forty yards off Santa Cruz into midfield. If we could get c10m for him and there is a suitable younger replacement somewhere, I'd sell. The main problem with Roberts imo is that he's been very injury prone whilst he's been at Ewood. Other than that he was excellent on Saturday and I'm not certain we could do any better with the money we'd get for him.

Mozzer Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 nicko, the big buy possibility does he currently play in the premierleague???
USABlue Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 It was more likely a realisation that Sparky was not a man to suffer fools No, it was because his chum Mourihno was sacked and there ended his move to Chelsea that he had his head full of.

Exiled in Toronto Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I thought at the time that Savage's comments pre the Villa game were arrogant in that he clearly expected to play. Hughes comment about it being hard to get into the side now is spot on. Don't play badly, don't malinger over soft injuries, don't get suspended or you may not get back in the team for quite a while. Anyway, I've thought for some months now that we have outgrown Savage. No other club with designs on breaking into the top 4 would even look at him, so I don't see why he should walk into our side. While the Axe isn't everyone's cup of tea, he tackles better than Savage and heads far better than Savage in open play - perhaps the boss values these attributes more than someone who chases the ball from player to player like a 7 year old, and can live with the Axe's wayward passes. As to Benni, a tough one. Cash in if we can get another quality finisher, because while I like watching Roberts, he can't finish for toffee.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 As to Benni, a tough one. Cash in if we can get another quality finisher, because while I like watching Roberts, he can't finish for toffee. Spot on. As for Savage I'm going to have to disagree again. When we were playing really well at the start of the season (e.g. Citeh, L'Arse at home) when the opposition had the ball there were always two or three of our players hunting the ball down. In the last couple of games, when the opposition has had the ball no-one has been moving to close the ball down and when we've had the ball no-one has been moving to receive a pass. Savage has said himself previously that he sets the tempo for the side and when he plays well, we tend to play well. I think there's a lot of truth in that.
herbergeehh Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Apparently, we're losing out on some youngster called Mitro Markovic (LET), whose being compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, obviously because of his origin and because he's currently playing for Zlatan's old club Malmö. Anyway, found this link, not sure whether it's the right guy though.. Looks like a player to fit our passing style.. Nicko, anything in this?
pksrover Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Looks like a player to fit our passing style.. Nicko, anything in this? that guy is definitely a player for the future...29 years old ...but if he could play like Tugay untill he's 40 I don't mind
nicko Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 He's only a kid...about 16. I think he is going on the trial round shortly during the Swedish close season. Not going to change the world if he comes or not.
nicko Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 This is an article on him today... http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/fotb...ticle1380528.ab What is odd is that the youtube video is about someone with the same name but a different age.

savage90 Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I have some inside info on who rovers big january signing is going to be, the lad has recently spoken to a Rovers player who happens to be a good friend of his, stating that he wants to join Rovers. The lad is a England under 21s central midfielder whos name has been mentioned a few times before. I just though it would be interesting for Nicko to know this and see what further info he can come up with, as i swear this is honest and came from a very and i mean very reliable source!

Well without claiming to be sherlock holmes himself I would say you're talking about Huddlestone
Dunnfc Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 So we lose our best striker McCarthy then lose our battering ram Roberts then lose the crowd pleaser Savage And we make a "big signing in Huddlesstone" hmmmmmmmmm Huddlesstone is far from a big signing and if we lose McCarthy for him il be bloody disappointed.
Blueboy Downunder Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 well the way that this is, if we are indeed after huddlestone then that is all well and good....but as nicko said yesterday, someone needs to go first and of all of them i don't want any to go. howev er if that means progression, then i guess so be it. i would certainly hope too, that this would not be the only signing in the transfer window and if benni does get shown the door (hope not) then i would expect that BIG signing to be a striker.
Sparky Marky Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 If Hughsey likes Huddleston, then that fine by me....I'd think it's time Morten was off-loaded and maybe there's a deal in there...Spuds were always after him....
LeftWinger Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Huddlesstone is far from a big signing and if we lose McCarthy for him il be bloody disappointed. Huddlestone would be a huge signing. In the same way Jan Molby would be.
Mozzer Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 from all the information, seems like huddlestone to blackburn is a done deal..which id be really happy about.. with the situation with benni mcarthy, i hope the "big " signing is a striker who could possibly replace mcarthy-hes a good player-but he really doesnt seem happy here... maybe a winger who can play left wing and right wing could be needed to pressure bentley and pedersen..
eddiewac Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 i dont think that just because McCarthy stormed off it means he's unhappy, maybe he was just annoyed at being left out of the south africa squad and getting substituted just pushed him over
Ronin Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 But with an attitude like that, despite the goals, is he worth keeping? I'd rather we cash in before he gets near the end of his contract and try to get in someone that's younger and a bit more enthusiastic.
LeftWinger Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 i dont think that just because McCarthy stormed off it means he's unhappy, maybe he was just annoyed at being left out of the south africa squad and getting substituted just pushed him over I agree. He was having a frustrating afternoon too. Nothing was coming off for him, and the ref kept pulling him up for niggling things. You could see the frustration building - and being subbed probably just completed a miserable few days for him. He's still far and away our biggest goal threat.
Sandiway Blue Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 i dont think that just because McCarthy stormed off it means he's unhappy, maybe he was just annoyed at being left out of the south africa squad and getting substituted just pushed him over There may be some truth in that,we seem to have this image of McCarthy being a sulker but whilst he has been at Rovers we haven`t seen any evidence of it.When he was dropped earlier on this season it was widely expected he would go in to a sulking mode, when in fact the opposite happened,he knuckled down and got back in to the side. Sure he was disappointed at being subbed, but i would be more worried if he was happy to be subbed.
