RevidgeBlue Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Going back to the weekend it's quite amusing to see Spurs' fall from grace accelerating, Graham Roberts was on Talksport yesterday commenting that 'arry's record of 18 points from his first 13 games there is actually worse than that of both Jol and Ramos who both managed 20 points from their first 13 games. (Bentley seems to have disappeared off the radar as well.) Meanwhile across London with everything he says and does, Scolari is starting to look a complete fraud and appears to be doing a good job of unravelling a very good Chelsea side. A narrow escape him not getting the England gig?

T4E Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The guy looks like an international manager all over. Part time coaching talented squads like Portugal and Brazil is nothing like the day to day running of a club like Chelsea. Very interesting Harry Redknapp stat btw. I'll be using that one
jim mk2 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 , Scolari is starting to look a complete fraud and appears to be doing a good job of unravelling a very good Chelsea side. A narrow escape him not getting the England gig? Scolari's a good man but Chelsea have an ageing team and and several key players need replacing.
speeeeeeedie Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Chelsea is Mourinho's team without Mourinho. He signed the players (most of them), they worked for him and now are somewhat complacent as Red Rom seems to have put his checkbook away. In seasons past if a player wasn't doing the business a new star would be signed to take his place. I don't understand how Scolari can drop Anelka. Chelsea were barnstorming until Drogba came back, now they're all disjointed. Spurs are in a precarious position. What a shame Bentley is in that mess. He'd be starting for England if he'd have stayed. Did Redknapp take Southampton down? Managers are always bleating about a mid-winter break, Rovers have effectively had one as most of the 1st team haven't played since December 28th. Hopefully Allardyce and his staff have managed to organise them over the past few weeks so we can charge ahead.
1864roverite Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I don't understand how Scolari can drop Anelka. quote] I think you may just see the story's coming out about a traning field bust up and hence the reason why he is benched at the moment. reports may suggest that he was hit with a £140,000 fines (2 weeks wages) FOR HIS OUTBURST.
thenodrog Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The guy looks like an international manager all over. We do not man mark aneey more.... now we mark zonal for set pieces' errr right Phil. But why not just stick a player on both posts at corners?
bob fleming Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The Sky Sports Ticker thing states "Manchester City open talks with AC Milan over signing of Kaka". He'll not be cheap will he?
DeadlyDirk Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Looks like bloody Burnley got a last minute winner in the cup!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Yep. Their slip up is never constantly downhill, but it'll hopefully be back to losing ways in the league.
BlueMonday Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The Sky Sports Ticker thing states "Manchester City open talks with AC Milan over signing of Kaka". He'll not be cheap will he? No, but they will start the bidding at £8mil and work their way up in £2m incremental bids. They should make the asking price by March. Will hopefully put them off the RSC trail though?
philipl Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Daily Telegraph article says that Man City have messed up the transfer market for the whole of Europe Kaka anti-climax?
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 He'd have to insanely f**king stupid to go to City, or he is completley driven by money and doesn't care where he 'plys his trade'. There's no way on earth i would leave if i was playing for one of the true giants of football week in week out.
Hughesy Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 500k a week according to one paper. That may pursuade any player. 1 season alone £15m!!!
philipl Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 The Times are saying a £91m transfer fee and £15m a year wages. Makes Roque look cheap at £50m.
Presty On Tour Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 500 grand a week!!!! That's more money than what some people will earn in a life time!
SouthAussieRover Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 500 grand a week!!!! That's more money than what some people will earn in a life time! It's a long time since elite football and it's economics bore any resemblance to real life. It's obscene.
American Rover12 Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 When you take a step back and just logically think about it, it is almost sickening the amount of money tossed about year in and out in this other world of football economics.
Majiball Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 500k a week according to one paper. That may pursuade any player. 1 season alone £15m!!! It should not be allowed its far too much. Absolutely ridiculous.
kandi Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 It should not be allowed its far too much. Absolutely ridiculous.
CAPT KAYOS Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 When you take a step back and just logically think about it, it is almost sickening the amount of money tossed about year in and out in this other world of football economics. Did this a few years ago AR12. It is ridiculous, and although understandable if he did accept it he could do Football a favour if he actually refuses.
dave birch Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Fans could do the world a favour and give their "admission" fee to a charity and make sure it's publicised. For us in Aus, he's reportedly going to get $1,200,000.00 per week. I'm sorry, but there aren't enough expletives in my vocabulary
LeftWinger Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 How's this for a quite astonishing statistic: Tottenhams record in the Premiership when Gareth Bale has played in part of the game: P 20 W 0 D 7 L 13 GF 24 GA 40 Hopefully Redknapp won't have spotted this and continue to play him
thenodrog Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 When you take a step back and just logically think about it, it is almost sickening the amount of money tossed about year in and out in this other world of football economics. Especially so when taking into consideration the tossers who are catching it.
Plastic Head Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 City need to realise they must get players in to finish 10th first...then some better ones to finish 6th.....then some better than that to maybe break into the top 4. Then they can attract and buy players at reasonable prices that may make them competitive in the CL. Going from bottom 3 to Champion League Winners in one months transfer window is totally impossible no matter how much cash you throw at it. If things continue as they seem to be they will end up with a team of show ponies who are only in Manchester for the mega money and will not be motivated to be commited to the team. If they are serious the first thing they need to do is replace Hughes with Mourinho.
Backroom Tom Posted January 14, 2009 Backroom Posted January 14, 2009 Especially so when taking into consideration the tossers who are catching it. Quoted in agreement
