Backroom DE. Posted January 27, 2010 Backroom Posted January 27, 2010 As I said in the match thread, if we can sign him on continual 6 month rolling contracts then great. Otherwise I get the feeling once he's locked into a secure deal his contributions will rapidly decline again. Saying that, with our finances as they are the less players we need to replace the better. I'd like nothing more than for MGP to rediscover some old form for a long period, but the past 3 years or so suggests it's not likely to happen. I don't think changing his position is too relevant - can't see him staying in CM.

Backroom Tom Posted January 27, 2010 Backroom Posted January 27, 2010 Somehow Pedersen has managed to work himself in to a position whereby every goal he scores for us just makes me think he's even more of a c*nt. Too little, too late. And you're still a pussy. I don't get the joke
Torgeir Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 After tonights performance you might be on to something. P.s. He plays inside left for Norway He plays on the left in a 4-5-1 usually with Riise overlapping a lot.
super_arran Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Somehow Pedersen has managed to work himself in to a position whereby every goal he scores for us just makes me think he's even more of a c*nt. ....because that makes a whole lot of sense
mellison24 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Norway: He plays on the left in a 4-5-1 usually with Riise overlapping a lot. Blackburn: He plays on the left in a 4-5-1 usually with Riise Olsson overlapping a lot. Makes sense, eh? Sign him on! If he goes dodgy again, we can sell him. He'll have buyers based on his Prem status (Eg: Olympiakos and Fenerbace) without even playing well.
Hughesy Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Not sure what the reason is for him re finding his form but he has been superb in our last 4 games....probably one of our best players in 2010 so far.... Inside left might be his position....hopefully the contract is incentive based if he signs on. Prior to losing Gamst - we need to move on Andrews, Diouf & Roberts.

I think Sam's hit the nail on the head this time, its down to moving him inside.
mhead Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Maybe the hyper-critical Internet 'in-crowd' should get off his back(and also BFS) Anyone who scores the greatest goal against the Dingles should be treasured. Just (like Dunny) reduce his wages by 25%.
RoyRover Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I watched Football First tonight and Pedersen played well. He took his goal brilliantly, looked dangerous in the Wigan half, could have scored another one with a great header and produced some good set pieces, one which Kalinic scored from. I think that his performances over the past few seasons, including this seasons, haven't been good enough to warrant a new contract. If he continues to do well from now until the end of the season, then he could well deserve a new one. It could be that one is in the pipeline and considering how things go from now until seasons end, will decide if it is given to him. It may not be ideal for Pedersen, but I don't think he can complain, considering how poor he has been for so long. If indeed this doesn't suit and he moves on now or in the summer, then I would just think back to how ineffectual he's been for a number of years and would quickly forget about tonight's good performance.
Hughesy Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 So whats the key to his new found form? Being dropped - got the message & reacted? New Contract? New Position?
RoyRover Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I definitely think that he is playing better in this position. He could well be doing it to push for a new contract with ourselves, or so Fenerbache up their interest. If his form spurned Fenerbache into making a £1million plus bid for him, I wouldn't be annoyed if we accepted it.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 So whats the key to his new found form? Being dropped - got the message & reacted? New Contract? New Position? Well the latter obviously. He's been dropped before and been booed for the past 4/5 months. Sam bringing him inside where he isnt exposed due to his pace make him far more effective. Similar syle to that of Kranjcar at Spurs.
Steve Moss Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Just (like Dunny) reduce his wages by 25%. Were Dunn's wages reduced 25%? If so, I feel a lot better about resigning him.
rovers1995 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Anyone got a link about Pedersen signing a new contract soon
CrazyIvan Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 He was excellent last night. To be fair to him he has been excellent for a while now. Every player has a dip in form occasionally, Peds was a long one...
alexanders Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Very good match by Morten. Hard work & skill.
LeftWinger Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I've been a big critic of his for awhile, but like most, think he has been excellent in our last two games. He's too slow to be a winger, but the left hand side of a three man midfield suits him perfectly.
47er Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Same here! I've been urging us to sell him but having seen him over the last few games I'm starting to think again. In the back of my mind I'm still terrified of him signing a new contract and then reverting to being useless but maybe the new position is the key. Certainly seems to suit him.

Fair play to him, he showed up again, took his goal wonderfully well (Technique!) hit the bar and GOT STUCK IN. Well played MGP, just need you to score the winner against the dingles (Again) and you can be restored to our hall of fame.
Amo Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Footy fans are so fickle. Is it any coincidence that Pedersen's form has picked up now he's hankering for a new contract (be it here or elsewhere)? I'd rather we moved him on and gave someone else a shot.
Hughesy Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Anyone got a link about Pedersen signing a new contract soon No it was mentioned after the game by Sam to the press
alexanders Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 The Norwegian Press Translated into enligsh: Norwegian press reports that Fenerbache are understood to be ready to meet Blackburns valuation on 20 MNOK, equals approx £2,1m with todays GBP. Gamst can get up to half a million MNOK (50-55K) a week at Fenerbache. Gamst himself says that he is a Blackburn player and will be loyal to his contract. He knows that Blackburn needs the pennies and that they probably will let him go instead of giving him away on a free transfer this summer. Fenerbache is a good club and they play in the Champions League. Of course it is intersting. Turkish agents was at yesterdays game against Wigan and was propably excited by Gamst's performance.

Hughesy Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 £2.1m to spend elsewhere - maybe the Bosnian and also cut down the wages abit. Or new contract?! Tough call!
LeftWinger Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Footy fans are so fickle. I'm not sure it is being fickle. He's been absolutely rubbish for about 3 years. All people are saying is that there has been a great deal of improvement in his new position.
