Stuart Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Will be general sorting out. No chance on the takeover being sorted. I would imagine that Mid-September would be the very earliest providing that it is currently moving at one hundred miles an hour. By all reports, it's not. Official site's working again now. And the big news is..... ....Peds is moving into centre midfield.

sparkspakespoke Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 could well been! or could be for Updating the software and website! I hope its the takeover has been completed. I reckon Robbie Keane has signed?!?
chaddyrovers Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I reckon Robbie Keane has signed?!? is that a dig at me??? All i did was tell you what my mate said? if he was right or wrong, i was just telling you what he said. THAT WAS ALL
Stuart Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Okay me MUST be in for a striker!! Btw, we have a "pecking order" for forwards??!!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Below Kalinic & Rigters? Bloody hell! What has he done to upset Big Sam? Eaten his chips??
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Lets be honest, Roberts was never a striker, he was a mild inconvenience. Never has a man tried so hard to miss a target so big.
Stuart Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Lets be honest, Roberts was never a striker, he was a mild inconvenience. Never has a man tried so hard to miss a target so big. Granted. But, ummmm, let's say Kalinic take a while to recover - or gets another injury. Then what?
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 We play Peders or Dioufy with Dunn just off. Im sure we're going to sign a striker before the end of the deadine, im not at all worried about that. Its the calibre of the player which is concerning. If we're left with Benjani then we're in trouble. We're looking damn hard for a decent player at the minute, that is why uts taking time. As a last resort, Sam will sign the first striker who picks up the phone, but hopefully it wont come down to that. Jo/Vaughan are improvements on Roberts and if Grella leaves then Sam should have the funds to finance at least one reasonable striker. At least until January when we're ready to spend the £100m or so that we'll be given by our new owners. this is all in the plan.....
brfc_jonesy Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Screw Roberts, sell him man. We will get someone else in. "Your listening to this morning's farmer"
sam_rovers Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 so, just to sum it up. Kalinic is injured, Roberts is being flogged to any club willing to pay 750 K or more, and Ritgers is so bad that we could see Pedersen start as a lone striker vs Everton. Not to mention, random Indian investors popping up with stories about buying our club, Grella who wont leave, and Sam saying that he wanted to get all his transfer business out of the way before the world cup starts! And all of this coming after announcing that we are now a trading club, which apparently means a club unwilling to purchase anyone and willing to sell everyone at the right price... so can someone explain to me, what is the difference between being a trading club and a selling club? But hey, at least we have depth........................................... at right back
Doaksie Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 If Nikica Jelavic was the 'mystery man' we've been bidding for, which I doubt, then today's latest wouldn't be a good sign. Rapid executive manager Alfred Hörtnagl said today (Thurs): "There’s no tangible offer on our desk – nothing we can negotiate about." Austrian Times article - No Offers for Jelavic, Rapid say Not great news for Rangers either, who have publically placed at least one bid for the player.
LeChuck Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 ....Peds is moving into centre midfield. In that case, we definitely need a new winger who can score goals. Pedersen was hardly prolific, but the contribution from Emerton/Diouf/Hoilett is non-existent. To be fair I think Sam knows this, and is trying to get a striker who can also operate out wide. That would be ideal really, because a striker/winger will naturally lend more support to the striker than a natural midfielder will. Dindane would have been perfect to be honest, it's a shame we couldn't tie up a deal in January.
BPF Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Screw Roberts, sell him man. We will get someone else in. "Your listening to this morning's farmer" Totally correct! We replaced Mccarthy effectively and this will be no different! It makes perfect sense to sell your second highest scorer for 750k. Just a pity we can't get 4m back for Kalinic and bring in Beattie, Benjani and Paul Dickov

Just a pity we can't get 4m back for Kalinic and bring in Beattie, Benjani and Paul Dickov Having fat boy Benni big nuts up front was like having 10 men on the field bruv. The geeza was shocking in the end and you get some mugs like West Ham giving us 2.5m for him yes please next! Still finished 10th
den Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Business as usual. I get the impression from Sam's interview today, that the deal for the player that we made two bids for, has fallen through. I also get the impression that there is currently no plan B [or C,D,E etc]. What an absolute cock up, going into the week before the season begins with only two strikers on the books, one of which has had no pre-season - and the other is JR.
Majiball Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I also get the impression that there is currently no plan B [or C,D,E etc]. No plan B, where have I heard that one before. Have to agree with you Den, if Roberts gets injured we're right in the pooh. Does anyone know when Niko is back??? Btw, we have a "pecking order" for forwards??!! Of course there is, they are always feeding off scraps!!!! In that case, we definitely need a new winger who can score goals. Pedersen was hardly prolific, but the contribution from Emerton/Diouf/Hoilett is non-existent. Olsson.
neophox Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 We will sign Jo and James Vaughan.... aren't we Nicko? Then Diuof will arrive on loan and we're sorted. Nicko any 11-O-CLOCKER?? No plan B, where have I heard that one before. Have to agree with you Den, if Roberts gets injured we're right in the pooh. Does anyone know when Niko is back??? Of course there is, they are always feeding off scraps!!!! Olsson. yes Olsson will score more goals this season....I think this midfeld of Emerton, Nzonzi, Dunn, Pedersen, Olsson and Jo or Kalinic in attack.
John Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Think it is business as usual - Sam said today we have missed out on player after player due to lack of finance....... in his usual way, he seemed rather peeved off with it all. What an absolute cock up, going into the week before the season begins with only two strikers on the books, one of which has had no pre-season - and the other is JR. JR who we are apparently trying to sell....
Backroom DE. Posted August 5, 2010 Backroom Posted August 5, 2010 Quite sad that we're lowered to seriously discussing whether we can afford to let Roberts go. What a shambles.
T4E Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Will be sad to see Jase go. Committed player, very decent on his day, and a great bloke.
Backroom Tom Posted August 5, 2010 Backroom Posted August 5, 2010 If we want to sell Roberts or not is irellevent if nobody wants to pay for him. I've accepted now our strikforce come a week on Saturday will be Roberts and an injured kalinic and rigters
tony gale's mic Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Totally correct! We replaced Mccarthy effectively and this will be no different! Didn't we do much better after Benni left?
