Bad day at the office.

Move on.

Let's hope we do better against Villa

Pretty much.

I can't get excited over a 4-2 defeat, sorry. For some fans to be proud of that result just endorses the "small-club" mentality of which we're always being labelled. There were a couple of positives to take from the game, but overall a disappointing result and performance. I wasn't expecting anything here, nonetheless, so let's look forward to the next game.

Expected to lose this match, but being 4-0 down was a joke. Getting a couple back made things a little better, certainly goal difference wise, but the defending for each of Spurs' goals today was atrocious. It wasn't so much to do with them having millions of pounds of talent as our defenders not doing their jobs properly (though VDV's handball should not have been allowed).

Thought Sam made some errors in his starting line-up. Salgado should never have started, can't believe he thought otherwise, and this was proven to be true when he was subbed before half time. Bale tore him apart. Not sure the same formation was the correct call to make, either.

Overall I'm not too downhearted because I expected a loss, and I'm glad we clawed a couple back to make the scoreline seem respectable. If Venky's representatives were there today then, much like the Liverpool game, I hope this gave them an idea of exactly where our squad is and how much they'll need to spend.

The plus point about our last 2 away games was the win, and a loss, gave us 1 more point than 2 draws would have given us.

The interesting thing for me about Allardyce's post match interview on the radio was his blaming the defence for the loss.

We have seen in other games where the defence has been responsible for conceding silly goals-such as Chelsea-and yet Allardyce has blamed the team for missing chances.

On train back. Hard to decipher today.

First off. Our 1 year baby was refused entry and we were escorted to Spurs ticket office to buy her a £20 ticket. Absolute sheer greed. Disgraceful club.

Allarydyce set rovers up to lose again with 1 upfront. Of course he thinks we can get a result but he rest of us know we can't.

An improving Kalinic toiled lonesome carving out his own chance all alone, only to fluff a sitter. His goals orange record and finishing is worrying.

Hoilet had by far his best game running at weak spurs defence. Emerton ran down blind alleys. Pederson was everywhere and quite productive.

Bale was sensational. Power pace delivery. Watch I on MOD. He hit, second half, a 50 yard cross field ball inch perfect.

Nelsen was too easily caught out by the movement and passing of spurs but Givet was worse. Selgado did his best but he's a poor player. Bale must have sensed raw meat all the week.

Dunns late cameo was up there with Bale, albeit the former only managed 15 minutes, not 90.

In the end Rovers need 2 up front. They need to defend by attacking or at least having a possession strategy. Allardyce disagrees. Someones got it wrong.

To be honest....prior to the 2 games, I think most people would have been delighted with 2 points, so suppose we have a bonus point.

As for the comments....Kind of agree - had Roberts taken his chance against Chelsea then more than likely we would have taken 3 points, not 0.

Salgado a poor player?? Because he doesnt have the pace of a young 20 something midfielder with pace to burn???

1 up top to lose again?? You mean like against Newcastle when it worked well?? We know we got the result then...

Went to the game today and Givet was at fault for 2 of the goals, lost his marker completley on the 1st goal

Anyone know why Salgado got taken off I thought he was doing ok, was doing a pretty good job on bale and feel he did better than Chimbonda.

Was most disapointed we a small section of Rovers fans in the row behing me all started with one bloke clearly pis$ed out of his head (no idea why he was let in) He stood for about 15 mins despite people behind him telling him to sit down. The stewards/police did nothing. then he finally decided to sit down on the concrete in a small gap between the 2 seats one next to me and the guy the other side of him who was probably late 40's, early 50's politley asked him to move back to his seat and bloke shouted at him and called him a Northen c*nt before eventually going back to his seat and falling aslepp (still stewards/police did nothing)

If that wasn't bad enough if the second half 2/3 people behind him for about 5-10 mins started shouting fu?king jewish c*nt repetatley before eventually the police stepped in and evicted 2 supporters no sorry they are not supporters they are holligans/thugs

I believe these people only come to the london games and made for an uncomftable afternoon. Anyone else witness this or have experinced a similar thing at london games?

Allardyce said in his post match interview on Radio Lancs that bringing Diouf on helped to improve ball retention.

He said as a result we dominated for long spells.

It's over.4-2 Could've been alot worse if spurs would've finished there chances.

But could've been better if the ref would have given the free kick for Van der vaarts handball for there 4th and we'd have put the 2 chances away that were cleared off the line.

Ohh well...next!

Exactly! That would have been a 3-4 result and Rovers coming home with another 3 points.

Oh the wonder of "if only" eh?

He's all pace, didn't you know?!

Pace is a great tool to have and when you have it in abundance you can make even world class players silly. In my prime(not comparing myself in bale in any other way apart from saying I also had a lot of pace) I used to run 100metres in just over 11 seconds and nearly every time I got the ball I just pushed the ball passed the man and legged after it and 9 and half times out of 10 times beat my man.

What I am trying to say in a long winded way  is that having pace in abundance can make an average/good player a great player. Clearly Bale has other things to his game and is a good crosser and finisher but is very one footed.

Funny thing is we a bit more confidence and game time I would like to see Hoilett adapt this approach. Today he had an ok game but seemed hesitant to push the ball pass the man and ran after it. A few times against Hutton he cut inside and created a yard or 2 of space for himself if he was start to do this more often or take him on on the outside he would become a much more dangerous player.

The Newcastle game was the first time I believe we have seen him take his form and style from reserve football into the first team and if he fullfill his potential will be a great player for Rovers.

Cant have it both way, one minute people want the manager to attack then they are blaming him for being to open. The second half was entertaining, we gave them trouble and a bit more composure could have seen us get back into the game, we just made mistakes defensively. We always look dangerous when we keep the ball on the floor and get some bodies forward, makes is much more entertaining and that's what I want to see us do to teams at Ewood Park, give it a go.

Don't want to hear all this 'we don't have the players for it' 'only results matter' its bull ######, at the end of the day if we play Football like we did today, with the players we have we are bound to win some games, and we have shown we can entertain if our players are given the freedom to do so.

Just seen highlights on MOTD

Never a penalty when Modric dived

1st goal – Givet fault

Penalty given - Never a penalty either...dive by Jenas

2nd goal – Givet ball watching & went with 1st man, instead of sticking with his man

3rd goal – Givet at fault AGAIN

4th goal - handball

Today was a great game to watch despite the result. Both sides looked good going forward and poor when defending. Givet had a rare nightmare and was responsible for three of the goals. The third was particularly unfortunate as the Rovers were on top at the time and if we could have pulled it back to 2-1 I'm sure Spurs would have become extremely nervous.

I thought we played some decent football going forward but our inability to keep a clean sheet is worrying. As a unit, the defence don't look bad but, unfortunately, we are continually undone by individual errors.

In attack, I thought Diouf, Hoilett and Dunn looked particularly sharp and caused the Spurs defence a number of problems. We were unfortunate to have some efforts cleared off the line but, in fairness, Tottenham also wasted a number of opportunities. Today I felt we were our own worst enemy and gifted Spurs too many chances due to individual errors.

I think Givet is Teflonman among Rovers fans when it comes to mistakes, he makes too many of them while others make fewer but get more stick.

In the end though, if you're under the sort of pressure we were under from the start, defensive mistakes are bound to result. We totally conceded mid-field where we just haven't got the class.

Nobody's fault really but I think i was a mistake not to start with Diouf the Elder.

I thought we gave a good account of ourselves, some horrible defensive errors and possibly dubious referee decisions proved our undoing. Spurs were in top form though and it's hard to defend against a team of that quality when they are in full flow. I appreciate that the players kept fighting at 4-0 and managed to get 2 goals back. Always a bonus.

I usually don't question Sam's changes but I thought taking Salgado and Kalinic off was absolutely bizarre. Chimbonda was awful against Bale, while Salgado looked like he had him under control. Kalinic was also doing well in the first half and should've been kept on longer.

The result didn't matter too much in the long run, so we can just move on and look forward to the next game. Our December is very winnable.

It made no odds but that is about the softest penalty you'll ever see, Modrics could have been given though as Salgado got a touch on him

Oh and it was never a handball for the 4th ball to hand definitely

Agree. That would be my first choice attacking midfield three at the moment.

Maybe Olsson as well when he's fit as he has pace and a good cross in him.

Pretty disappointed with Pedersen's performance last night. Maybe Sam can put him at left back instead of Givet instead, at least he can still contribute to the throw-ins and free-kicks!

Saw your other halfs comment on facebook about your little one needing a ticket, that's bang out of order. Rovers were amazing when we bought our little one up for a game, no charge and excellent service.

How timely to see Spurs being featured on MoTD for the work they do in the community with the kids! Obviously just token gestures and meaningless soundbites. <_<

This is something that personally I'd contact the press and media about. Perhaps a letter to the club cc'd to the LET, the BBC and the London Standard asking for a refund might be in order too Graham?

1. A 1 year old does not require a seat.

2. If you had known this then likely one of you would have stayed at home with the baby and they'd have lost £35 or whatever it was. In these days of declining crowds it is ludicrious.

Go for em.
