Roost Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Putting Venky's on it doesn't make any business sense - there's no external money coming in by doing that. Wouldn't surprise me to see an Indian company on there though. Tata Motors or something like that would be pretty good: Tata Premiership, hello Championship at this bloody rate

Stuart Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Never thought of it that way, there's certainly a lot of sense in there. One bit that doesn't add up though - it wouldn't work out as "free advertising" since Rovers would be £x million down by not having an external sponsor, meaning Venky's will have to plug that gap with their own money. They would, in effect, be paying for the advertising on the shirt.* There are probably a few options available. I think one we can comfortably rule out is a conventional sponsor like we have now (local paint company). *(please no money conspiracy theories against this, there are more appropriate places!) Don't forget though advertising isn't just a bit of showing off. The whole point is that you make a lot more back than you spend. So that "gap" should be more than covered by the increase in sales of Venkys chicken. (Cue meerkat squeak).

I was just making the point that it wouldn't really be free advertising.
rebelmswar Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Samaritans would be fitting I feel. I will certainly be using it.

rebelmswar Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 No good to you mate. You know how these deals work... New customers only..! Dammit.
cletus Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I`ve heard Billy Smart is interested in the shirt sponsorship
Backroom Tom Posted April 28, 2011 Backroom Posted April 28, 2011 Love the new training kit for next season
AggyBlue Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Love the new training kit for next season I think the question mark is because the chance of any of them being here next season is diminishing game by game.
Roverdale Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I think the question mark is because the chance of any of them being here next season is diminishing game by game. Haha yeah.. ironic isn't it that Kalinic and Pedersen are likely to be 2 of the first players to hand in transfer requests should we go down (possibly even if we stay up). Should have Roberts, Emerton and Andrews selling the kits. No chance they're off is there (GREAT )
Backroom Tom Posted April 28, 2011 Backroom Posted April 28, 2011 Interesting that the colours used are black and yellow, the same that are strongly hinted for the away shirt. I wish it was going to be yellow and navy or royal blue ala the kit we wore at Wembeley Vs Leicester but yellow / black is fine.
CaliRoverNYC Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Black and Yellow... Venky's are spending too much time listening to Wiz Khalifa, though I suppose thats better than listening to Jerome Anderson.
alexanders Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Black and Yellow... Venky's are spending too much time listening to Wiz Khalifa, though I suppose thats better than listening to Jerome Anderson. And by looking at your avatar I guess you like it! I would like a black and yellow away shirt. Something a little bit unusual. Please not a red one!
Steve Moss Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Yellow and Orange kit please My 6 year old son would be an instant convert to the Rovers and I could finally 'vanish' that Houston Dynamo shirt.
laughatthedingles Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I've already told you what they away kit is like. Mock it up if you like. The home kit is 90% certain to be same as Sunderland with the bits they have black, replaced by red.
Gumbi Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 You said it was yellow and black halves whereas Dan Furness said it was yellow with black trim. Which is it?
laughatthedingles Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 The one I saw had black and yellow halves. The same yellow as the asics kit, 1994-95 year maybe?
heysham rover Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 We have been on the same template as Sunderland for the past few years, can't see that changing. Their new strip would fit a retro rovers shirt a la Perspex era perfectly
misterbigalow Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 The one I saw had black and yellow halves. The same yellow as the asics kit, 1994-95 year maybe? Like Southport's kit?: http://www.southportfc.net/uploads/pages/Shirt%20Launch%20%282%29%20%5B1600x1200%5D.JPG

doctorryan Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Like Southport's kit?: http://www.southportfc.net/uploads/pages/Shirt%20Launch%20%282%29%20%5B1600x1200%5D.JPG Well...........If it is to be yellow(gold) and black, at least that would be the most palatable design.
Steve Moss Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 img600.imageshack.us/img600/7254/yello.jpg I actually liked it.
