Mercer Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I don't know who is responsible for our scouting now but, IMO, we don't half come up with some cr@p. Old Carr at Newcastle is still one of the best in the business. There are still bargains out there like Swansea's Michu who cost 2 millionish and averages 1 in 4 in a second striker / in the hole role. And we keep banging on about Rhodes for 6 or 7 million whose only success is in the old Third division. Just about sums up the state of our club.

We aren't looking for our ten millionth second striker/in the hole player though. Thankfully.
den Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 when I said many clubs, I meant european wide. Clubs in Italy and Spain have a director of football with a head coach. Probably 3 clubs in the premiership have a system like that. WBA, Spurs and Chelsea. Yes of course they do. It's been like that abroad for decades and some clubs have tried it over here. The coach will have a say in who's signed though, unlike Ewood. That's the whole point.
diziet2 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 interesting this cropped up on our board a couple hours ago and is not in the daily mail. It looks like we have signed James Vaughan on loan for the season from Norwich. If he stays fit, it could work out very well. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2192741/James-Vaughan-to-Huddersfield.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Wickham I've never seen in the C'ship but my Ipswich mate rated him really highly.....from what I have seen in the Prem he looks physical enough to lead the line.

dwayne cage Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 This whole window has been a war of Rumours Kamy, Glen, Andy, Nicko all been coming out with a lot of stuff. With the greatest of respect none of the moves any predict might go through.
Hughesy Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2192762/Hull-boss-Bruce-hopes-reunion-Sunderland-hot-shot-Campbell.html Frazier Campbell available for £3m from Sunderland, with 1 year left on his contract - Hull & Us interested. Rather take him & Guidetti on loan than Rhodes to be honest...especially at £6-7m
rog of the rovers Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Campbell was desperately poor in the PL game at Ewood last season.
Hughesy Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Campbell was desperately poor in the PL game at Ewood last season. Was that after being out injured for 6 months though? He did well for Hull in the championship - 15 goals, 10 assists in 34 games
dwayne cage Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 If Frazier can stay fit he'll be a decent signing.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 If we,re after either Wickham or Campbell, I hope either of them are the second of the two strikers Nicko claims we are after as neither of those enthuse me particularly. Campbell especially.
Brfcrule1 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Mercerman are you by any chance a Morrissey/Smiths fan? lol!
yoda's brother Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Mercerman are you by any chance a Morrissey/Smiths fan? lol! more likely lenard cohen
Ricky Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 This clearly isn't the player he was referring to throughout the day. How can you say he's not very good?? He went to Sunderland with a very good reputation. Just hasn't worked out for him in the top flight....yet. I think he's backtracked a bit from his earlier stance. There is no mention of the player being at brockhall yesterday either. We'll see who's right soon I guess. Nicko or Glen......... Fight!!!!!!!!
Mercer Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2192762/Hull-boss-Bruce-hopes-reunion-Sunderland-hot-shot-Campbell.html Frazier Campbell available for £3m from Sunderland, with 1 year left on his contract - Hull & Us interested. Rather take him & Guidetti on loan than Rhodes to be honest...especially at £6-7m IMO, the lad has never recovered from that knee injury. Has lost that physical, and perhaps mental, sharpness. Even with modern day techniques, cruciates are horrific and very, very few get back to anything like they used to be.
BigBar Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Such a mystery its almost like he doesnt exist!!
Commondore Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Guidetti has had serious interest from all over, we're talking midtable to top clubs in Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland... I'd be happy, but COMPLETELY mystified, if he decides a year on loan in the Championship is the right way to go.
Nobert Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Campbell is pants. I am expecting that any signing will be of a Modeste standard.
folkdevil Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 According to this site thesimpleball.worldpress.com it could be three months before Guidetti is fully fit or he might even never get back to what he was.
EWOODACE1 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Brill post....completely agree. Whether he got things right or wrong doesnt really matter. He used his own time to contribute and i loved the 11 o'clockers and took it all with a pinch of salt. Bang tidy post that one ;-) If anyone else claims to be itk and talks a load of crap then he gets slated and rightly so. Why is it different for this guy. Just because he writes for the mirror?
callumrovers Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Guidetti is fit and not injured, he did have a virus he's over that now.
Kamy100 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I'd be happy, but COMPLETELY mystified, if he decides a year on loan in the Championship is the right way to go. Might have something to do with his agents being part of Kentaro!
