thenodrog Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I doubt it J*B. Too many people with short memories around these parts although Tris or Rev Blue might be your best options.

johnradfordsubbuteo Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I've just done it. I feel dirty. I tried to do it by smartphone but my phone is clearly smart indeed. It doesn't trust Rovers website and blocks the transaction. How apt.
klos Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Season ticket renewed today, if core squad retained, Lowe, Duffy, Hanley back, young players coming through, maybe prospect of good loans from prem clubs there could be promising prospects for 2015-16 season for us Rovers fans in Cumbria to look forward to

J*B Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Lowe, Duffy and Hanley being the persuasion to get a season ticket. Maybe it's me that's crazy...
Backroom Mike E Posted July 4, 2015 Backroom Posted July 4, 2015 I do recall chants at Brentford away of 'you dunno what you're doing' and 'sort it out'. But that was only the one game and I went to about 8 away games as well as all home.
Mike Graham Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Season ticket renewed today, if core squad retained, Lowe, Duffy, Hanley back, young players coming through, maybe prospect of good loans from prem clubs there could be promising prospects for 2015-16 season for us Rovers fans in Cumbria to look forward to I am a bit worried by Hanley. He may just make East Stirling reserve team on a good day.
JBiz Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I am a bit worried by Hanley. He may just make East Stirling reserve team on a good day. You mean the captain of our team? 100+ appearances, some top, many this level. Represented his country as captain also I'm sure. Same guy yea?
Backroom Mike E Posted July 4, 2015 Backroom Posted July 4, 2015 You mean the captain of our team? 100+ appearances, some top, many this level. Represented his country as captain also I'm sure. Same guy yea? While pb is undoubtedly being overly dramatic, Hanley isn't the best defender at Rovers, let alone captain material. The defensive qualities of Killa, Duffy and even Williamson, Lowe and Lenihan in their odd cameos there were higher than Hanley's.
Mike Graham Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 You mean the captain of our team? 100+ appearances, some top, many this level. Represented his country as captain also I'm sure. Same guy yea? Yep. He is dreadful. I did have a discussion with him about his performances but he was too pi$$ed to understand.
JBiz Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I can't stand the way players are treated sometimes. Could get personal about it and call me over sensitive, but I think it's just plain disgusting. Grant Hanley has been a good player for this team in hard times. Not the best, definitely not the worst. It's easy to see strengths and weaknesses, whilst it's also easy to see that he has not performed as well recently. To completely write him off? Just plain silly. What's the point of an academy if we are just going to flog players the minute they aren't at their best? Surely the best thing for this club is GH being a leader that he can be, and good physical defender. The discussion about his place in the squad, suitability for captaincy, off field behaviour etc- all worthy of discussion. Just posting one line of hatred without any examination, that's not discussion.
Gav Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 You mean the captain of our team? 100+ appearances, some top, many this level. Represented his country as captain also I'm sure. Same guy yea? Do you go to games or just listen to radio Rovers, genuine question. The defence has been much better without him, even a blind man on a galloping horse can see that.
JBiz Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Do you go to games or just listen to radio Rovers, genuine question. The defence has been much better without him, even a blind man on a galloping horse can see that. Yea, last 3 months but the lads been playing for us for 3 +years.
Stuart Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Yea, last 3 months but the lads been playing for us for 3 +years.Quite.And how's that been working out for us?
Bucksrover Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I am a bit worried by Hanley. He may just make East Stirling reserve team on a good day. Killa and duffy should be our first choice centre backs - with killa as captain. Hanley is increasingly becoming an un-athletic thug who fouls rather than tackles.
JBiz Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Quite. And how's that been working out for us? Another scapegoat? Blame another person for something that quite obviously was manufactured 5000 miles away. Least you never wished injury on him like a few on here. Do you honestly think that he would be better working at Asda? If the answer is yes, why should I agree with your opinion above the other countless professionals who've worked with grant? Plenty to discuss. I think his performances recently have been poor and I can see this may be linked to the way he acts off the pitch. I don't think he's captain material at this point, but Dreadful?

You have seen him play over a season i take it ?

I think his performances recently have been poor and I can see this may be linked to the way he acts off the pitch. I don't think he's captain material at this point, but Dreadful? I think he is unprofessional and I don't expect the captain of my football club to physically man-handle his team mates on the pitch.Just how many 'countless' (presumably you can't name them hence the term) professionals has he worked with? How many clubs? Or do you mean, Kean? Berg? Appleton? Bowyer? Hardly high praise - and the best of them was only here 5 minutes. Hanley would be well down the pecking order of captain material based on what I've seen, and ignoring everything we've all heard. The facts (and the stats) show that we are a better team without Hanley, and Lowe. For some reason you see that as personal. It's not, it's just football. It's a cut throat business and players and managers, for that matter, are regularly moved on. Currently we are in the market for those players everyone else is trying to move on. Why shouldn't we look to do the same with our weaker players? This isn't developments football, it's competitive football. No room for sentiment.
JBiz Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 It's got nothing to do with sentiment. It's about giving players chance to develop without a magnified expectation that comes with "coming through the ranks". Funnily enough, out of recent youth teams - JL and GH probably have most caps. Coincidence that they are most derided? The team has been indifferent for 5 years, that's not simply down to those players lacking quality. You'd quite happily point out that manager should be judged by those performances, but still see if to cast those two as reasons for our downfall. Have it both ways if you want, but to me it makes sense to develop players for your own needs. Big Sam gave both players their debuts also. Somebody who's opinion I respect 100x compared to any single poster on here.
Baz Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hanley under a manager who nurtured him, and playing alongside a experienced centre-half may develop. Look at how Moran developed Hendry. The constant little stories of him out and about drinking does worry me though, as much about Grant as GB for allowing it.
Backroom Tom Posted July 4, 2015 Backroom Posted July 4, 2015 He's been absolutely shocking for the last season or so, shouldn't be in the team never mind captain. never wanted a player to get sent off for us before but one home game last season he committed a foul deep into injury time, he had a twenty yard headstart on their striker whilst we were losing, he casually jogged to the ball then rugby tackled their man and you could tell everyone was hoping the ref would reach for the second yellow and get him away from the team for the next game. Anyway 'deadline' day came and went and still not had any thought about renewing or not
joey_big_nose Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Hanley was not too bad until last season. I think the pressure of being captain of a ridiculously naive and young team did him. He is not a leader. It needs to be taken away from him. Ill be interested to see what happens after that, if Bowyer has the balls to do it. Might be the kick he needs. In terms of raw ability he is okay for the Championship. I could see him recovering and being okay next to an experienced head.
Stefan Hedgehog Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Yep. He is dreadful. I did have a discussion with him about his performances but he was too pi$$ed to understand. suprised he didnt but you on your arse for being cheeky, whats wrong with a guy having a drink
MrT Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 The sale of Scott Dann was the start of the downfall of Hanley. He looked good alongside Dann and was progressing well. Giving him the captaincy has been a obvious OG. GH seems to get bigger and bigger, and slower and slower every time I see him. He has the turning circle of a oil tanker these days. It's a shame because up until the last 12 months he looked a real prospect.
Backroom Mike E Posted July 5, 2015 Backroom Posted July 5, 2015 suprised he didnt but you on your arse for being cheeky, whats wrong with a guy having a drink Nothing wrong with that. Everything wrong with being the captain of a professional football club and almost having a beer belly!
