That was a great Bolton side. Would tear up this division nowadays.

Missed out on promotion to Div 1 by one point two seasons running - before finally making it in 1978.

My earliest 'derby' matches were the ones around this time with Bolton

Definitely a contender - although the fact that their supporters mostly couldn't be arsed to travel all the way across London tends to make it a one-sided famous occasion!

Im hoping someone can settle a question me and my mate have had for years. Am I right in thinking the 1985 5th round against United was the first ever  live broadcast of BBC Match of the Day (other than the finals)?

No, we were on a year before against Southampton.

Thanks for replying, I was sure we were the first ever live non-final game. It wasn’t the Southampton one was it (I remember Armstrong scoring at Darwen end and we lost one nil in 84)
