Bronzed A Donis Posted September 17 Posted September 17 From the centenary celebrations. A Rovers postmark and label for envelopes , centenary programme (remember them) with better items for sale than we have now and excellent century of soccer by a youthful Harry Berry. 4 Quote

That was a great Bolton side. Would tear up this division nowadays. Missed out on promotion to Div 1 by one point two seasons running - before finally making it in 1978. My earliest 'derby' matches were the ones around this time with Bolton Edited September 18 by oneandycrawford addition Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 18 Posted September 18 No mention or sign of any Maltese Cross there btw, neither was there for our 125th! Quote

Definitely a contender - although the fact that their supporters mostly couldn't be arsed to travel all the way across London tends to make it a one-sided famous occasion! 1 Quote
garner1971 Posted Tuesday at 11:17 Posted Tuesday at 11:17 Im hoping someone can settle a question me and my mate have had for years. Am I right in thinking the 1985 5th round against United was the first ever live broadcast of BBC Match of the Day (other than the finals)? Quote

Thanks for replying, I was sure we were the first ever live non-final game. It wasn’t the Southampton one was it (I remember Armstrong scoring at Darwen end and we lost one nil in 84) Quote

GHD Posted Thursday at 19:43 Posted Thursday at 19:43 I remember my older cousin telling me about this game, which he attended. I would be 9 years old and he was in London awaiting demob after WW2. He said Rovers missed an absolute sitter late on and Charlton went straight down the other end and scored to win 1-0. They went on to beat Dingles 1-0 in the cup final. I also remember going to the last league game of that season, which was extended due to to an awful winter. I was excited at seeing cup winners Charlton. It was played on Whit Monday morning to avoid a clash with East Lancs’ game in the Lancashire League that afternoon. Rovers won 1-0 Quote

Gav Posted 49 minutes ago Posted 49 minutes ago I was surprised to see them flying home from a game at the start of the film, I thought that was a relatively new mode of transport for football teams. Quote
