Upside Down Posted October 21 Posted October 21 (edited) Don't know if anyone else has read this, not about Rovers specifically but it highlights how much of a proper football town Blackburn is and how pivotal the town was in the development of the game. https://www.thefootballhistoryboys.com/2023/09/blackburn-olympic-footballs-most.html?m=1 Edited October 21 by Upside Down 3 Quote
Members rog of the rovers Posted October 23 Members Posted October 23 Things get so existential when Rovers are on a bad run, particularly under the current regime. This song has been in my head all week, its hauntingly nostalgic tone and Ol Blue Eyes singing his heart out. Has struck a cord, particularly the lines "Cos the old team just isn't playing...and the new team hardly tries. And the sky has got so cloudy, when it used to be so clear." The 150th Anniversary is almost making it all worse!! This time will pass.......he says in hope! 1 1 Quote

Whys there a lump in my throat 😥 Those words hotdogs n beer resonate with me. me stood with a pint and my daughter eating a hotdog watching a club disintegrate. Before our eyes, feeling ripped off. It's strange because in my head I'm watching the game sat in the stands ...but it black and white. The old boys playing their hearts out...grainy images of moustached gentlemen heading a ball, thousands of people crammed in waving their hats... then the pitch is empty. The stands are empty. Right back to work. Possibly the worst week in a while for a Rovers fan 2 Quote

Gav Posted Friday at 21:03 Posted Friday at 21:03 Not Rovers related by this home end at The Dell Southampton always had me questioning how nobody fell from the top tier celebrating a goal. Anyone been on that end? Quote

Anyone been on that end? I went to the The Dell in the early eighties (vs Luton) but I can’t recall if that was the stand we we’re in or not. What I do remember is the bloke in charge of changing the scoreboard dozed off and missed 3 of the goals 😁😁 Edited Saturday at 19:20 by wilsdenrover 1 Quote

Gav Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) I've been listening to some of the build up to tonights Sunderland v Everton game, where Sunderland can go 2nd in Premiership with a win. Its really puts me in mind of our first season back in the Premier League 1992. We made a very good start to 1992 season, I watched us beat Arsenal away on Saturday at Highbury, can you imagine the feeling, it was surreal! With Everton to come at Ewood on Tuesday, I thought this big league stuff was child’s play: Blackburn Rovers 2 Everton 3 Tuesday September 15, 1992 I'm thinking of having £5 on an Everton win tonight 🤣 Edited 5 hours ago by Gav Quote
