He is so calm etc, 99% of the time it is fine however it stands out if something goes wrong. His style of play is standing on the edge of the area watching his man run past him? He's excellent on the ball and reads the game so well that he's actually a darn good defensive player too. This seemed to be something else - like his head just wasn't in the game at all. 1 Quote
roverandout Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Watched Wharton last night. If Johnson was a decent player he'd have had two assists. Wharton ran the show against villa 1 Quote

Lancaster Rover Posted January 8 Posted January 8 There was one reverse pass he played first time around the 60th minute that was incredible, it was almost too good as the forward made a total dogs dinner of it as they were so surprised it came to them. Even at that level Whartons vision catches teammates out 4 Quote
G Somerset Rover Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) Under the watching eyes of Tuchel, too. He'd be an absolute fool not to have Adam as one of the key players in his squad for the world cup. Edited January 8 by G Somerset Rover 3 Quote

KentExile Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Not sure if it is widely known, but if anyone is interested, Macclesfield play Palace tomorrow lunchtime, live on BBC1, which may feature Adam Wharton against James Edmondson, who is on loan at Macclesfield from Rovers 3 Quote

Has Guehi had injury problems? The reason I'd be surprised if Wharton plays isn't because he is a key player for them, but because he will likely be identified as being in dire need of a rest. 1 Quote

roverandout Posted Saturday at 09:25 Posted Saturday at 09:25 (edited) They rested him in a key conference league game. I'm pretty certain they'll rest him for Macclesfield Edited Saturday at 09:25 by roverandout Quote

Hasta Posted Saturday at 13:07 Posted Saturday at 13:07 Mac 1-0 up at half time. 117 places between them. The biggest shock in FA Cup history is on the cards. Quote
roverandout Posted Saturday at 13:11 Posted Saturday at 13:11 Wharton has been really poor. I don't think it's a good idea to play big players like ghuei or Wharton against lower league teams as they are more physical. An injury is bound to happen Quote

RTM08 Posted Saturday at 13:37 Posted Saturday at 13:37 What on earth is going on with Palace? So little effort (and unfortunately I include Adam in that) 1 Quote

AspRover Posted Saturday at 13:46 Posted Saturday at 13:46 (edited) Very solid performance from Edmondson, but as he's playing in a fairly defensive role he's not doing anything flashy or eye catching. Working very hard and disrupting a premier league attack. Playing a bit of a Tronstad-esq role. That said, couple of wayward passes and a (very) optimistic free kick. Wharton almost scores, good save from the keeper. Edited Saturday at 13:48 by AspRover 2 Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted Saturday at 13:50 Posted Saturday at 13:50 palace waking up a bit now, macc sitting very deep Quote

He's gone as far as he can playing alongside mediocre to decent players. If he wants to take that next step he needs to play alongside better players. Whether that's in England at a city or Liverpool or abroad with real madrid 3 Quote
