VI says that bad game management was to blame for the defeat yesterday. The person that should have most influence on game management is the manager.

I couldn't understand the substitution of Hedges, I thought he was having (for him) a reasonable game. In other games he has played awful and has been kept on for the full game.

Some positives from today's game and we will get better. It wont be top 6 finish this season but it looking like a season of transition and league finish in mid table. If things click quickly and we sign a couple of quality of signings being the transfer window then things might be different, who knows.

Before you asked we need a right winger signing, another forward who can wide and up front and Travis's replacement. Please don't asked for any names as I am not professional scout and very little knowledge of the overseas markets so can't name who I would sign

I have told you my thoughts after 2 league games, yet you don't accept that opinion. Would I be happy and accept a mid table finish this season, yes I would. If we can sign a quality right sided attacking midfielder and forward who can play wide plus replacement for Travis then maybe we push for a playoffs. We see in May. 

 

We need a goalscorer and a winger.  I like Ohashi but he’s not the former, and although Hedges did ok yesterday we need more threat out left.  Without those 2 things we will be there or thereabouts the relegation mix.

Goalscorers? Not many quality out there in our price range. I see Birmingham spend 9m on a striker, didn't impress me yesterday. Who we go for, haven't got a clue

That's who works on set piece coaching (I think) , so would have been who decided who picked up who

"Some members of the staff got the responsibility for the set pieces, why they picked the player, the positioning has to be right. We have to move on and learn from that for the next game."

Maybe having removed David Lowe from the coaching set up (although he may be on gardening leave).  Ben Benson is next in Ismael's sights?

Theres not that much quality in general in our price range and with the wages we offer.

agree,though there are also clubs with our budget who have recruited far better than us,imo we are in the hock of agents who are running the show backstage,they phone up with a player who`s deemed suitable for us,we bend over and say yes

qpr,preston,millwall,oxford,charlton all done astute business over the summer without splashing 5+ million on one player

I was just asking a simple question. wasn't defending anything. I would have look at league 1 and 2 for a couple of signings 

I think QPR signing Karamoko Dembélé and someone who plenty on here would have like here 12 months ago. Can play for the right. Kone could be smart signing if he can step up. 

Kelman being sold by QPR was a surprised for me. Did well at Leyton last season

I would have taken Will Lankshear on loan from Spurs but we don't want loan players here from Ismael's comments. I would have taken Rúben Rodrigues from Oxford before he gone to Brazil 

Millwall paid 5m for Coburn which I think is over paid

If its the difference between promotion and not, or relegation and survival, then its a price worth paying.

Too often here the focus is on the individual - their cost, transfer fee, wages, scope for increasing in value

The focus really needs to be on the team and giving it the experience, depth and quality to actually go and achieve something in the game rather than just existing with no purpose whilst rivals all overtake us.

You are very keen to point out how bad other teams strikers are to try and justify us scrambling around for cheap players.

Kyogo will score more goals than and is far better than our strikers. Our 2 strikers are average and poor, not many goals there.

26.6% win ratio after 15 matches, where does that rank him among the all time greats? Somewhere in the Kean/Coyle zone? If it's 26% by May we will probably have about 40 points and be relegated. Fingers crossed eh?

Edit - just checked, he won 12 matches at WBA and 12 at Watford, so we have 8 more to look forward to in the next 3 years before his contract runs out 👌

If they'd not signed anyone but kept last seasons squad together i'd be confident we'd have at least 3 maybe 4 points now and still be in the cup.

That might be absolving him of a lot of the blame so far but it's not he needs to buck his own ideas up pronto.

How do you think Simon Garner would have gone on playing upfront on his own with our “ service “ to him, surviving on one half chance per game ? 

Playing up front on your own is the hardest position on the pitch to play bar none. Without good service it’s an arse kicking job. I speak from a little bit of personal experience. I couldn’t get back to playing midfield quick enough.
