I think Rovers are in the 'fortunate' position in that despite the shambles enveloping Ewood Park, there are other clubs with their own problems who might just save us from the drop.

  • Sheffield Wednesday are gone
  • WBA in freefall and they look even worse since Ramsay was appointed
  • Oxford have appointed a manager who contrived to take Luton down - doesn't augur well for them
  • Leicester face a substantial points deduction

Think the third relegation place is between Rovers, Oxford and Leicester.

Think position at WBA irretrievable.

They look even more hopeless since Ramsay came in.

Think only thing they can do hold up their hands, acknowledge they've got it wrong, sack Ramsay and appoint an experienced guy who can hit the ground running - Rowett until end of season.

A lot of revisionism about Mowbray.

He got us promoted from League one at first attempt, which he deserves a lot of credit for, but that’s it really, for me.

He talked the club down and allegedly tried to hold us back from going for promotion.

Never go back, that equally applies to Mowbray too.

I agree that we shouldnt go back for him, although if its a straight choice between him and Ismael (it isnt) then Mowbray everytime.

But the part in bold really has grown legs. Venkys held us back from promotion, not Mowbray. He wasnt capable of getting us promotion although when he had us closest, they again fucked him over before doing so to 2 subsequent managers.

Comparisons to the 1995 winning era are facile and only show that Mowbray was part of the system at that point, dumbing down expectations to feather his own nest.

Absolutely spot on.

Whilst if it’s true and he’s the first manager in history to turn down additional budget- I feel like it’s a given about the owners- they’re wankers.

But that’s not who I was talking about.

That's because he said it himself. Straight out of the horse's mouth.

Said he had to "calm the owners down" following promotion from League 1.

You're really boring on this point, continually denying something even Mowbray himself freely admits happened!

Do you still maintain the earth is flat as well?

Yes, It made me angry at the time. Also Big Sam was shaking his head in disbelief at TM's account.

He’s also the manager that orchestrated our worst ever home loss.

Mowbray did plenty right in his first two seasons, but Covid onwards he struggled really.

The problem with Mowbray's "it isn't 1995 anymore" comments isn't that it wasn't true, it's that it distorted the reason many fans were unhappy. Nobody is expecting us to win the PL within the next few years or ever again. People just want to support a club with genuine ambition and decent, experienced people at the helm. His comments fuelled the "entitlement" narrative, which is nothing but gaslighting when it comes to the vast majority of the fan base.

He himself said on Big Sam's podcast not that he turned down budgets but that he didnt feel like he could go banging on their door for more money.

His own weird principles were counterproductive but this idea that he was turning down transfer funds is at best speculative.

You are equally boring continiously referring back to Mowbray and Waggott and deflecting when discussing the owners who are very much a current problem.

Maybe they were expecting to then get promoted again and he was just telling them that it wasnt realistic with a side that had been in League 1.

You also said that "sources" told you that he turned down funding in the season we finished 8th. In that season he publically kicked off that he wasnt allowed to sacrifice a disinterested Rothwell to raise funds, and also in the summer that he wasnt allowed any of the Armstrong money. So quite the opposite, he wanted money and wasnt allowed it. You repeatedly rejected this and deflected the blame on what the owners were doing onto him.

Some right bullshit being spouted, Mowbray turning down of money was made up on here, same as the profiting from selling the training ground, by the same poster/Group of posters.

If it doesn’t make sense, its probably not true.

Not that we want Mowbray back in any case. He was very good when he was here, working for morons and gaining a promotion, a night I won’t forget as they don’t happen that often.

He has definitely said that he never felt like he could demand more money. Which is different.

He also I think said that he had to calm down the owners, but that seems to have been spun to him turning down transfer budgets which he didnt say.

What proper manager does that?

It was his job to win games not look after the owner's money for them.

I have slept (and had had many disappointments) since then!

But I would guess 2021?

I know he expressed disappointment in January 2022, when he said he was blocked from letting  Rothwell go to Bournemouth and replacing him with Dembele.

I would say the turning down Venky's funding claim was before that. He actually referred to it a few years later, on that podcast with Big Sam. At the time, I thought it sounded like he didn't want the pressure/ expectation, but that is only a guess.

Well he calmed them down alright. They’ve been in a coma since then.

He has weird principles and I agree he should have.

But its totally different from actively declining transfer funds which seems to be a bit of a myth.

It's not spinning the same thing at all. 2 entirely separate incidents.

The "Calm down" comments came immediately after promotion from League 1. From Mowbray himself, dampening expectations.

By your own admission he's said on a podcast he didnt feel in general that he he could ask for extra money which is a ridiculous stance for a manager to take.

Waggott also told someone I know in "The Rothwell window" there was a substantial one off war chest available which matched the promotion bonuses on offer which WERE actually publicised in the LT.

Waggott could have course have been lying, but presumably the bonus offers were genuine as they were publicised, and if the Club did have a war chest available, you wouldnt have expected them to divulge how much it was.
