Wrexham have always seemed to have a preference towards older players. Obviously they have had a lot of success doing it but I wonder if a similar approach would not necessarily be as effective the higher up you go. They already have the likes of Rodriguez, McLean and Matty James.

Cairney is obviously a good player and I suspect would still do a good job at this level but he is 34 and hasnt really played much for a few years.

Can understand him dropping down for £50k and im sure he will say its the "challenge."

ACD is probably more suited to Prem style football than the Championship, certainly at the moment.

Looked quite decent at first but it all caught up with him physically and he lost confidence and was never really a Eustace style player anyway.

Wouldn't be writing him off at but this kind of thing will keep happening because these are developing players and we are a beg steal borrow development club.

Prem style football where they're bigger, better athletes?

I'd be amazed if he turns into a good player. He's so small and weak - similar to Markanday. Doesn't matter how technically good you are if everyone can just bully you.

And they pass more and create more space, often less pressure to track back and do the dirty work because there are better players behind you.

There's plenty lightweights in the Prem and no one knows how a player will cope until they get a chance but he'll likely end up on loan at another Champ club.

Thats insane... 50k for a 34 year old in the Championship...

Just inflation.

We paid 30k a week for a 35 year old Danny Murphy at this level back in 2012.

Agree to disagree.

There aren't any Le Tissier's in the PL anymore.

Athleticism is at a premium.

It's obviously bullshit that Cairney will be scooping £50k a week 😂😂.

If he's on 30k no way anyone would pay close to 50k. He's 34 😂

Rovers paid at least £20k pwk years ago for Stewart Downing aged 36.

No idea which thread this actually fits in. Looks like long time player liaison is leaving. Either that or Trav is!

Reading into it the ‘disappointing news’ makes it sound like it wasn’t her choice either

You have to wonder what benefit this has. I've seen her on countless Instagram posts from past and present players and it seems like she is loved by everyone.

Another tone deaf decision by the club.

Another question for Waggott at the next forum "your wage has increased by almost 100%, whilst long serving staff are made redundant, explain that one."

When Glen said he'd had confirmation long serving staff had been made redundant, she was the first to come to mind.

Not prem, but that Messi fella did alright, same height as ACD.

I don't think ACD's issues all stemmed from his height, he just came across as a bit of a pussy without much of a football brain. He may well improve but he was an absolute flop here.

Far more athletic and talented though.

A lot of people wrote Ayari off here and he’s made 32 appearances in the league this season Brighton.

I think ACD has a lot of qualities that will serve him well at Premier League level, he’ll win a lot more fouls up there than he did with us and not be burdened with defensive work as much.

think you are being very kind to him,for me,he did`nt to anything to suggest he could play at this level let alone the top league,he looks a mirror image of adam moran, lightweight, unwilling to his body into tackles   and a typical academy product,i suspect premier league full backs would have an easy afternoon with him

ayari always looked a decent player,he never got an extented run  to show himself here, was a bit of pointless loan imo,we certainly never got the best out of him

I think physical toughness is a much more important attribute down here (general weakness in our squad for a long time now, as it happens) and there’s more emphasis on “protecting the players” in the top division. It basically nullifies his main weakness and turns it into a potentially exploitable benefit (being physically overwhelmed while shielding the ball to win free kicks in wide positions).

He’s got a lot to learn and his pace without the ball is questionable but I can absolutely see him becoming a Premier League player.

Imagine he will be at Rovers as a coach in a few weeks (Ismael connection from their time at Barnsley & West Brom)

Can't possibly have anymore space for another first team coach
