I suspect that defenders are cheaper than forwards, can imagine a situation where Kargbo and Cantwell play behind Ohashi/Gueye as a 3. Saves us buying more expensive wingers to replace Dolan etc.

Worth bearing in mind most of Kargbo's best performances as Cesena actually came playing as a 10 not a winger.

Assuming no signings, perhaps Ismael is aiming for something like:

Toth

Hyam. Batth, Wharton

Brittain, Trav, Tron, Ribeiro

Cantwell, Kargbo

Ohashi

46 games. Sure we’ll play plenty of them with 4 at the back, but it appears he wants the option of wing backs

Definitely looks like a LWB more than a LB...Looks quite handy going forward and does seem like he has abit of pace.

Probably his best position. He doesn’t have the pace or crossing ability for a wing back in a back 3 formation.

Batth is out of contract. 

I don't see 3 at the back but has Elliott Jackson pointed out last night he could play left side midfielder like Ismael wanted to do with Owen Beck.

I imagine it will still be 4231 with this lad down the left and Kargbo on the right.

Also gives the option of changing it up to a 343 with Dion as left wing back and Kargbo as a left sided forward maybe.

Maybe his club play we at the back 3 last season hence the wing back role?

Surely we have 2 players competing for the same position especially in wide areas.

We not in pace in wide areas since Olsson and Hoilett days then Duff before that. 

Can't beat a good quality wide player which the last was Conway who was great crosser of a ball. 100k bargain signing under Bowyer.

Beck will be the toughest of acts to follow. This guys on a hiding to nothing if he signs on as a LB. He has no reputation as a defensive back and if it's left sided pace Gestedes after then what's the point when you have Kargbo in front of him.  If it's a signing for cover then maybe given Picks injury record but then that's what Hedges is for isn't it, I can't say I'm anything like excited by this [rumoured, potential, possible, definite maybe] signing (assuming we get the registration papers submitted in time of course).

We have been a team lacking pace and physicality since we got relegated from the premier league.

I think bigger stronger and fitter teams are far better to watch.

Not saying that, just basing the 11 of the players we currently have in the squad, plus Batth who they said they want to keep (not that I think we will at this stage)
