I still randomly expect Pears to move over to the MLS at some stage, I think his Mrs is from that side of the pondΒ

With Scott Carson leaving City, maybe they'll want to fill the void with Pears.....

I've no idea if any of our reserve keepers are remotely good but I can't see Pears wanting a full season playing second fiddle, can't blame him either at 27 he's in his prime.Β

Loosest ever application of the word "prime", there!

barrett and goddard are in their twenties and between them hav`nt played a first team game in the football league, thats tell us all both of them ar`nt very good, more evidence that the club is a farce when we`ve given both of them extended contracts😦

i think pears will be sold, can see michalski being toths understudy this year, thats if we don`t sell him at the first enquiry

I wouldn't end up being surprised to be honest given our 1st team keepers for the last few years?

Β Pears - Who knows?

Kaminiski - Played Regular Premier league fooball season before last

Walton - Played Premier league football (only a bit) last season

Steel - 1st choice GK for a Premier league team season before last

Raya - 1st choice GK in a Champions League team.

Β

I think I missed one between Raya and Steel, but still. If I played GK for Rovers I would buy Lotto tickets.

Not really going to hamper. Isn't the same as Kaminski being shifted out by JDT?

Fair point although he'd proven himself a lot better previously but i'm sure there are a few out there have seen enough of Pears to think they can do something with him.

For the right deal obviously.

I think someone said they were just kept on because the lads need someone to stand in the goal in training and occasionally try and save one.

I expect Pears to move on cos he wants to number 1 or will get a move to PL as back up keeperΒ

I think JRC and Buckley need to move on for their own career and start playing somewhere regular

based on what? If you look at the stats he had good season and better than previous season.Β

More than a decent keeper at this level for mid table clubΒ

Not a snowball in hell's chance.Β  PL, Pears is your number 2 and your number 1 gets a serious injury with Pears having to cover for up to 4 months - that's season over for that club.

For ANY Championship club he makes too many mistakes and I can't see any club paying even Β£1million (or anywhere near) let alone Β£2million for a goalie not good enough to be number 1 in a poor Rovers side.Β  Loose change only for Pears - anything beyond that is for the fairies.Β

Replacement is already here I imagine, with Barrett and Goddard signing new deals.

Both would need registering this season as over 21, so that would be our 3 keepers I think.

Michelski as Under 21's first choice.

TBH don't think Barrett or Goddard up to it - Barrett is 23 and hasn't made an appearance for ANY senior club whilst 21 year old Goddard has circa 50 games with non league clubs of the ilk of Bamber Bridge and Marine!!!Β  I wouldn't hold my breath about those two.Β

Michalski is only 18 and only seen him play once - think he has a chance but would be a huge risk to have him as our number 2 with such limited experience.

Think we need an experienced back up to Toth.Β

Another target to add to we tried list. Don’t know why we employ a recruitment team. Chasing unrealistic targets in the hope they feel sorry for us and except low ball offers

He’s easily worth over 5m, so yes absolutely no chance. Not sure specifically who’s linked him but some of the recent β€˜links’ aren’t even remotely believable, there’s silly season and there’s just being complete dicks.Β

Β i go to evans halshaw and spot a gleaming fiesta st3 for 12 k, i approach the salesman and inform him i`ll pay 6k and nothing more,he duly tells me there is no chance and off i go,proclaiming that evans halshaw priced me out of a vehicle and it`s not fair

this is how rovers go about their transfer business,im`e pretty sure of it😁

Anyone who thinks Calamity Pears will move for a seven-figure fee is - quite frankly - on drugs.

Pears value to a Premier league club, particularly one in Europe, is in filling a homegrown quota slot in the squad selection whilst being happy to pick up a better wage than a starting league one keeper (which he could probably be) to turn up and train and occasionally make the bench as a third or fourth choice keeper.

There are relatively few half decent keepers willing to do it, so 'big' clubs will pay (a bit) of a premium for them. Β£1m + 15kpw for Pears to allow you to register a Β£60m+ foreign centre forward in your squad is peanuts to City or Chelsea or whoever.

The fact that Pears is being linked with this kind of move makes me think that his agent has put the word out that he'd be interested. It's not an impossible move.

Whether he is a Β£1m+ keeper under any other circumstances is an arguable but probably irrelevant point here.

Another one to file in the bin. If he's worth Β£5m+, then I'm not sure why he's even being offered to us in the first place.Β

A million quid is nothing for a Championship keeper still in his 20's with his peak years ahead and with 100 plus Championship appearances who on the face of it only lost his place through injury and a gaffer change.

We have just got to hope, the other possible clubs have not seen him play.

People don't half exaggerate how bad Pears is, I don't think he's ever fully recovered from Wigan away in the cup with some, granted that was particularly tragic.

He's an average championship goalkeeper, the value for which is around 1m I'd say.
