Surely if he isn't going to get a game then why not just sign a coach?

I don't get this signing.

Terrible terrible signing

100 % agreed. Money is tight and we're spaffing it away on Forshaw.

Surely the money could be far better spent.

What next? Cauley Woodrow?

I said the same about Eustace and I double down on it with Val. Iv zero sympathy for him he has to have known about rovers financial struggles and off field issues. He accepted all of this when he signedย

People used to accuse Eustace of this and I felt that if he had specifically been told "We know what happened with JDT but don't worry it won't happen again" then he was entitled to take that at face value until proven otherwise.

However, now that it's happened TWICE I have a very hard time believing that VI could be naive to all this or that he isn't fully complicit and agreeable to anything that happens as long as he draws his salary.

An average player these days but Iโ€™m not too concerned in isolation, it was always going to happen at some point.ย

The worry is what itโ€™s a sign of

I dont get this idea that its fine as long as he isnt for the first team.

We repeatedly have issues in the second half of the season with squad depth. Our squad players are massive downgrades and when they have prolonged periods in the team, which will likely happen at some stage, results drop off.

Its all well and good thinking he will be useful to see games out etc but thats assuming everyone is fit 46 games a season.

I disagree on the Eustace stance. Out dirty laundry was aired publicly for all to see regarding the court case / struggling finances etc well before Eustace too the role. A quick search that any person can do would show the failed windows we have had, the failure of duty of care for some players we messed about all on top of what was already obvious re venkys so ANY manager taking us they should have done their due diligence and if they have and still accept the role then they canโ€™t be surprised ย

Forshaw is a ridiculous signing

ย

ย

We all said he'd be back.ย  Most people just thought they would leaveย  it till the end of the window before sneaking him in.ย  You know, after a semi-positive signing.ย ย

But no.

ย The fact he's being touted as a a 'signing' is hilarious.ย  They're openly taking the piss at Ewood.

Chaddy must be locked in his war bunker discussing furiously with his Press Secretary how to spin this signing.

I'm Predicting:

"Pleased with this signing. A good dollop of experience to help the younger players".

It will be "Ismael wanted the signing" and then questioning anyone by saying "dont you want Ismael to have final say."

Not realising or purposefully missing the fact that you can believe that the manager should have final say AND sometimes disagree with his choices.

It would be fair assessment, but clearly not one you agree with.ย

Then again, CMโ€™s arenโ€™t your strong point so ย maybe young Chadsterโ€™s presumed assessment is accurate ๐Ÿ˜‰

In isolation, Forshaw for an extra year isnโ€™t a bad signing. He actually looked decent in patches late on in the season. Heโ€™s a good player to bring on as heโ€™s composed on the ball. ย He also wasnโ€™t half as bad as people made out and Iโ€™m sure with a good pre-season behind him heโ€™ll look sharper still.ย

The problem is if he is a direct replacement for either Trav or Tron. In that context itโ€™s just another cost-cutting exercise, but on a an even bigger level of stupidity.

Weโ€™ll see how the CM positions look at the end of the window to see the context.ย

Spot on, if he's first or second replacement, then OK signing. If he's a starter, then obviously not.

As you say, the longer the season went on, the better he got, which shouldn't be a surprise given he hadn't been playing at Plymouth.

It also looks like a signing with Ismael's blessing to me, which bodes well going forward.ย

Forshaw signing is OK for me if he's an "as well as ..." but not if he's an "instead of ...". So if we sign others (of quality) and keep hold of Trav/Tron then his dressing room presence/experience will be useful.

The reality is of course that we don't sign quality and we lose Trav so if that was to be the case then this is another low water mark moment.

As an aside I like Garrett, he has attitude. Hope he has an impressive pre season and breaks through (oh and he's free so in the current climate what the heck).
