Think we need a minimum of 4 plus a replacement for any departures (will be surprised if Brittain and Travis are here when the window closes).

CB:  Carter seems to be made of glass whilst we have to see how Wharton goes with his knee (Wharton has also missed long spells with other injuries as well)

CM:  Tavares is unproven, a washed-up Forshaw (already injured) should never have been re-signed and Montgomery has proved nothing yet other than he is an athlete (as was Jason Lowe!!!)

RW:  A desperate, desperate need.  Hedges offers almost nothing offensively (was it 1 goal and 2 assists last season?)

CF:  Leonard needs loaning out (L1 or even L2) until at least the Jan. window in order to see if he can hack game after game and score goals - after looking so promising, he's missed so much football over the last season or 2 and after his back problems you do worry if he will ever be fit enough for the rigors of professional football.

Just don't see how Ismael would be happy with just 2 or 3 more.  3 more of REAL QUALITY and we MIGHT get by but 2 or 3 more of the likes of Alebiosu, Tavares & De Neve (Alebiosu and De Neve look average at best and don't improve our starting 11 whilst Tavares is unproven with an unconvincing last season at his previous club) and we could be in real trouble.

This is a fair assessment. I don’t think you’re far wrong.

The one which is causing the most discussion is probably the CF. Personally, I saw enough from Yuki and Big Mak last season to believe one or both of them could get 15+ goals this season. Seems VI has a similar opinion. So, who will back them up? Listening to the manager and RG, it seems they aren’t targeting one, which means they’ve seen enough from one of Tyjon or Leonard to give it a run. My guess would be that they’re banking on the former rather than the latter and I can see Leonard getting out on loan. For me, you’ve gotta trust the manager, the guy who’s watching them everyday and if he believes they have enough, then we crack on!

It sounds like they really fancy Montgomery as the 4th / 5th cm behind Trav, Tron and Tavares.

In rank of need, I’d say RW, CB (Cheap foreign), and Baradji will be our lot, assuming no one leaves.

If / when someone leaves, we WONT reinvest the money (as per RG’s comments early in the summer). So I’d expect us to bring loans in to cover those sales. Maybe a freebie or two.

Something which was completely wrong. I will do thanks

Maybe don’t do repeatedly, quoting the same post every time. That’s just trolling, and also very very boring.

Has Atcheson had any game time during preseason?

are they testing Mularkey as a 3rd RB in case they decide to sell Brittain?

Mullarkey-Matthews has come off the bench on the right wing in each game in pre season, presumably because Rovers have not yet signed competition (it would be folly to expect anything more than competition) for Hedges.  I cannot recall him ever playing right back (I think I may have seen him at wing back once or twice, but never right back) for the under age groups and am fairly certain he played on the wing in his loan stints at Bamber Bridge.

Atcheson has come off the bench in each game in pre season apart from yesterday. personally think he needs a loan and regular minutes but can be a big player for us in the future, and one who is actually tied down to a long term contract which is like gold dust under our current owners

Edit - Atcheson's minutes (roughly equates to about quarter of possible minutes played)

Accrington game - 46 mins

Everton game - 18 mins

Qatar game - 30 mins

Elche game - 0 mins

Scroll on forever blue. If it’s not directed at you or concerns you then you have no reason to be involved

RW will be a loan, we won't spend the required money to get anyone decent permanently.

I wonder if Moussa Baradji was (and possibly still is) seen as the "right wing" option, someone to overload the centre whilst the right back overlaps.  The current option there (Hedges) isn't one to hug the touchline either

It’s just proof really. As quite a few on here yesterday said about admitting to being wrong etc. As shown above signings like weimann batth beck etc along with Ohashi Gueye you didn’t approve and predicted relegation. Now this season it’s just the same narrative again

Think most of us were surprised how last season went based on the previous season.

I think at the moment we are considerably weaker than we were last season when comparing the number of players of proven ability at this level we have lost with the cheap and unproven foreign players we have brought in .

Without at least 3 quality additions who automatically command starting places and improve our starting 11, I think we will struggle.  That is my opinion as you are entitled to yours.

Yes but the point I’m making is it’s the exact same scenario

we lost szmodics and brought in unproven foreign players - which for the overall team worked out better

it’s not proven that will be the case again but to continuously say we will struggle when last season is proof that it won’t necessarily be the case is just strange to me

Elliot said he was told that Baradji is seen as a "6 or a 8" (🤮) but i did wonder the same, seems to have played quite a few games at right midfield, and a few on the left over the past couple of seasons.

Judging on where Alebiosu played yesterday when he came on, I think he'd be better suited as a potential RW option. Certainly didn't play right back when he came on.

Still think a winger will come in though on a permanent

€1.5m 🤔

Are you surprised 😂😂😂

We really think the signings we've made have been anywhere near the valuations quoted in the media? Absolutely bollocks.

We've not got anything left in the kitty.

We lost Szmodics - one player!

From last season's squad we have lost half a dozen players who had proven Championship ability: Batth, Beck, Sanderson, JRC, Dolan and Weimann (4 of them big players for us last season).  So far, we have not signed one replacement, let alone additional team improver, of Championship ability.

Your comments in bold just underline to me that you are just trolling - have you really nothing better to do!?

So we probably offered half of that.

Half of that up front, but an extra £4M in "achievable add ons" such as Rovers winning the 2022 World Cup, & Kapuadi being the first man on the moon

It really isn't necessary to keep on making your point over and over again. You're dominating this thread but not illuminating it.

I honestly thought this was a transfer thread. So far, it’s been name calling, back biting and moaning about ex players.
C’mon guys. We all want to see positive signings but the falling out on here is akin to playgrounds!

Gestede "exciting summer" fuck off.

I often wonder how this clown has a role at this club in any capacity, but then we’ve had plenty of stains since the Venkys have been here so it’s not that surprising.

I think Atcheson definitely need to go on loan. He needs to get knocked about a bit and learn to get the knocking about in first. A bit of rough and tumble lower league stuff will do him the world of good.

Did well in his half season at Marine (6th tier) last year, where he was with with Montgomery, but yes, think he needs a 4th or 5th tier loan

Olsen did well on his loan at Altrincham (5th tier), so loans for Atcheson, Litherland & Pratt, who are all ahead of him in the pecking order, should be minimally at that level, ideally League 2 as long as they are pretty much guaranteed starters
