How can Wrexham make this stack up with financial regulations?

Netflix, USA merchandise income etc, plus doesn't their new cycle start now they've been promoted ?

Meaning they can spend big for now at least.

I think (as I said earlier) next year counts as year three of their cycle. (They definitely have to now provide financial info for promotion year and the one preceding it).

It would be one hell of a loophole if clubs could spend what they wish for two years after reaching the Championship.

It's not about spending what you wish it's just being able to invest up front in the first year of a new cycle but no one seems to be a hundred percent sure how it all works so it's no wonder clubs fall foul of it.

I'm not up to speed on any of it but i did read somewhere it's different rules in league 1 so presumed they might get a reset on promotion to the Championship although that wouldn't make much sense either.

They are going to have to go some in the next few years to cover the fees and wages they are chucking around but with an average gate probably less than us.

Think the main issue Wrexham will have to face in the Championship is their manager - his record in the Championship isn't great.

Parkinson I think is a lower league (1 & 2) 'specialist' but like a number of other managers we've seen, struggles at a higher level.

Would be no surprise to me to see Wrexham change their manager before Christmas - they are spending a lot of dough and expectation levels will be very high.

Interesting how this has morphed from the transfer thread to the Dolan thread to the "exiting " thread to now...the Wrexham thread.

At least it isn`t the Derby(or Eustace)thread. That really is a bridge too far!!

Actually i was about to say how good it would be if Eustace bailed on Derby for Wrexham mid seasonΒ πŸ˜‰

If Wrexham think over paying on players is going to get them results then they'll soon realise it takes a lot more to climb up the championship.Β
Β

I've spoke about this before, I've a close Wrexham friend who laughs when people think they'll finish top 10 this season. They'll be milling around the bottom.Β

Interestingly, that was also VI's opinion of both them and Birmingham this season (when asked how he thinks they'll fare, at that kit launch thing the other week).

And I agree with him; how many times have we seen the likes of Stoke or Hull spend a relative fortune, only to struggle at the wrong end of the table, as the side just hasn't clicked / the signings turned out to be dogshit?

We've also seen Luton and Ipswich bounce through the Championship.

If you can spend on quality to add to momentum surely you can do something although too many new faces could maybe disrupt that.Β

Sadly like us Hull and Stoke are the ultimate going nowhere anytime soon clubs due to the idiots who run them, in some ways the Bet365 mob are the British version of early Venky's although you'd 'bet' on them getting it right sooner or later but they'll end up in the crap with FFP as well probably.

I agree, would not be at all surprised if they end up making a change. He's done a great job to get them up to the Championship but I'd be very surprised / impressed if he took them any further.

Think Stoke would fare better with a decent Sporting Director.Β  Not sure what qualifies Jon Walters for that role but his track record on player recruitment and the appointment of Nadal as manager/head coach is highly questionable.

Sadly, Sporting Directors of the ilk of Dougie Freedman are as rare as rocking horse shit.Β

Not really - opinion versus erroneous claim.

The poster was trying to diss me with an erroneous claim.Β  Seems like the Twitter post he referred to was a figment of his imagination.

Clearly not.

Miller was reported as being up here today in the LT so you would imagine today or tomorrow, medical pending.

Im guessing the media person/people will be going to Holland so presumably that side is done.

Do we know if Miller or Brittain will be announced arriving/leaving today?Β

this is rovers 2025,transfers move glacially with a big dose of scepticism, they are probably haggling over the brittain price and trying to lower the miller fee

'Wrexhams global profile'....give us a fookin break!!🀣

You underestimate the profile provided by their owners and subsequent Netflix series. It's enabled them a nationally known sponsor and the ability the tour the USA and Australia for friendlies. The global profile might not be for their football history but they genuinely are known across the world.Β
