Wheelton Blue Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I'd lost track of the fact that the 150 game is this weekend coming, such is the dearth of info coming from the club and my indifference to it all these days. Even on the club's own web site, there's little mention. It should be headline news, plastered all over the show. What a damp squib it will be. It really is poor, a disgrace, but not expected I suppose. They really are a bunch of charlatans. 2 Quote
Tim Southampton Rover Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I live in Southampton and asked my Saints supporting friend what design he would do for Rovers 150 year anniversary. The first thing he said was "obviously, blue and white halves..." and then he went on to talk about having names of legends stitched into the shirt somewhere, mentions of the Lancashire rose. When I showed him the yet to be confirmed design, he just shook his head. My friend knows nothing about Blackburn yet he got it MORE right than the club. It's gone past the angry, frustrated and disbelief laughing phase. This is disrespecting everyone who has followed or represented Blackburn in the past 150 years. 1 2 Quote

At this rate if Danny Batth doesn't get on in the main game, they'll probably ask him to play in it. Even the names announced are lacking in real star-quality. Also, if the "legends" game kicks off 45 to 60 minutes after the final whistle, what are they planning to fill the gap? They are opening the bars, but you still can't take alcohol to your seats during the 45 to 60 mins gap. Edited 7 hours ago by Hasta 1 Quote

Lancaster Rover Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago the one thing that is synonomous with Blackburn Rovers is halved (we know it's quartered) shirts, across the globe that would be the defining feature that your average fan would know about Rovers. To celebrate our rich history we've decided to ignore that which makes us almost unique 3 1 Quote
Bronzed A Donis Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Even my wife said, "oh yeah, that does look crap, it doesn't look like its anything to do with Rovers" If someone wanted to buy me the halved polo shirt for Christmas I wouldn't be disappointed. They should wear that on Saturday. Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Fair play Ian Herbert but then just who the hell is responsible for making the decision on that all white aberration that went against all advice and idea? The Rovers pictoral timeline outside the Stadium taken down, the Blues Bar gutted of its memorabilia and now this utter bollox...I swear its like they are taking the piss out the fans. 4 1 Quote

The galling thing at the moment, is that quite a few of the remaining fans seem not to care that the piss is being taken, and go along with it. 4 2 Quote
StHelensRover Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Just had a quick look on the Rovers site to see how the crowd was shaping up for Saturday by seeing where tickets were available and sadly the £18 tickets don't seem to have put a dent in what will be pretty much a bog-standard attendance for us these days. We're a husk. When we played Wolves in 2000, we were in the same division we're in now, except we were trying to compete to get out of the division and were run by competent people. The argument about it being the Jack Walker era can't be levelled because by that point the great man had passed on. The attendance for that game was 20,400. I'm guessing Wolves at the time would have brought about 2k? What do we think for Saturday? 15,000 'officially' announced but nearer 11 or 12k? Sad Edited 5 hours ago by StHelensRover Quote

And it's working! It's looking increasingly likely it isn't a wind up. If it is, they'll have to knock one up for chaddy - he wants one! 1 Quote

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Just got my Anniversary Book. Good content but the two pages dedicated to the Rao's can go and get fooked, puts a real downer on it...the full page picture of the Brothers Grimm stood laughing cuts deep like a knife for me personally. You probably won't have had a chance to read it yet SG but Im guessing the 2 pages is like a "tribute" to the Rao's and not the summary of their 15 years of ownership? I wonder what the over-riding perspective on that is in the book? Is it fairly critical or neutral? Quote

If so it would have been far better to have been written by an eminent Club historian like Harry Berry or Mike Jackman. Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Its been written by Michael Hodkinson Rev,Rovers fan who did the 'NO NAY NEVER' Book. The bit from the Rao's is them gushing to say how proud they are to be connected with our Club, yadda, yadda yadda...quite gut wrenching tbh. As you can imagine from around 2010 the Book err thins out a bit! Edited 4 hours ago by SIMON GARNERS 194 1 Quote

I would actually have been quite impressed if the contribution from the Rao's had been along the lines that things had not gone as they'd hoped during their period of ownership but they were determined to put it right etc. Quote

Not a fan of the shirt tbh. I hope its not 150th shirt. After reflection, I probably wouldn't buy it. Not down to Price but the look Think the polo shirt posted by @StHelensRover is smart and that would be a much better anniversary shirt. 1 Quote
