Today I start my 60th season being a Rovers fan. Yes I’m an old fart but no less excited at what this one will bring. Not expecting too much as we are in a period of transition with some key players from last season missing and we just don’t  know if their replacements are quite up to the challenges of the Championship.

Hopefully we will still sign a wide man and striker before September to provide a bit more fire power up front but I’m not holding my breath.

Hedges has been a good squad man you need honest grafters like him in this league and i don't think he was signed as anything other than that.

So iv'e never really expected a great deal and he had some good performances when he first established himself but injuries and consistency went against him. In truth hes only been involved so much because of the year on year budget cuts.

He's one who has probably benefited from that.

Hedges would be on the bench at the Wham stadium, I've seen better.

Don't forget "wait till the end of the window" to see where any other goals come from.

And the window after that, with venkys court case delayed for the 5th time till November.

One certainty today is that Rovers will be well supported on the road again.

Well done all, great numbers. Been a while since I went to The Hawthorns, but WBA fans were always a nice bunch. Seem to remember a good pub (think it was neutral rather than away) which did a lovely curry, tikka on a charcoal bbq and kebabs. Think it was called The Vine

The Vine is a fantastic pub 👌

Sadly not going today, was working out stupid prices via train and on holiday next week so watching the pennies, despite all the shite we put up with I'm still gutted not to be going though.

Sadly I think a dose of reality bites us this afternoon. The Baggies are a well drilled, well supported side, very experienced in this league and will be well aware of Rovers' frailties and gaps.

Raw optimism is always good to see, and a scoreline like that would be an amazing spectacle to behold. Having seek last week's picking apart however, it is more likely that we will be on the reverse end of a 3 goal deficit.

Boring but bearable - Baggies 1 Rovers 1

Baggered and Battered - Baggie Boys 3 Rovers Ragbag 0

Bugger me you Beauties! - Baggie Bottoms 1 Rampant Rovers 3

However it goes, it is amazing that 2200 hardy souls are trogging to the Black Country for a day out. Fair play to you, you amazing madmen and women!

Googled football scores and this came up as featured game. Route one rovers, What's that about 🤔

Must be a Dingle working at Google. It seems to be back to normal now.

Reminder the opening weekend games are all live on the Sky Sports App, and Rovers are live on Sky channel 404.

It wouldn't surprise me if Google had tried to use AI to sort/order/categorize something, at it got itself mixed up and combined our Rovers, with these lot somehow

I am looking forward to the season and I'm excited for the new season and seeing what it brings. Ismael has a clear idea what he wants from his squad, how he wants us to play and how he see this team going.

I hope everyone travelling to the Hawthorns, Rovers produce a result they can be proud off and we can get a positive result.

We needed more scoring from the wingers and 10 role already. Weiman, Dolan, ACD werent exactly prolific scorers either. I’d bet Mioshi, De Neve, kargbo could match the output we got last season. I’d hope Cantwell is better band think starting with Ribeiro vs Pickering is an upgrade from last years start. Brittian obviously a big loss. I would say we’re worse off than a year ago but I don’t think it’s a huge difference from the start 12 months ago. Where we will be worse is service from our right back position and without Batth the defensive back line.

Point is we’re not really any worse up front, but we were very good to begin with. Weimann and Dolan both had 7 a piece but anyone watching them play last year would feel that number was well below what you’d expect.

one thing for sure, we cannot expect Hedges to contribute to the attack so without a quality right winger we are significantly worse off than before.

I just look at who is the keeper and breathe a  sigh of relief.

I'm in Tenerife, does anybody have any other streams that may work? Open for an inbox.

The irregular channels are not listing it at the moment so your best bet is the 11  quid pass on Rovers TV which will be available to international viewers

Perhaps the court case will become part of the 150 years celebrations !

Could imagine "as its 150years since the beginning of the world's Greatest Town Team, I sentence you to 15 years community service, starting with jet washing the outside of Ewood park, painting the railing and paying for the gable ends to have a Shearer montage and a jack walker montage"
