"Good" is somewhat of an understatement Id say as he went on to prove with Everton.

Well past his best as a player by the time he joined us but still decent. Imperious at his peak, again with Everton.

Would he go down as the best player never to win an England cap?

He is definitely one of them , in my time watching football .

A melancholic afternoon.  A rainbow welcomed me into Ewood for the first time this season.

It was Rovers reserves vs Rovers rejects and we were outfought by a Wimbledon-style outfit, who nudged, fouled and dived all afternoon.  We were better second half and worked very hard, but were very low on quality.

No pies in the Riverside.  Surely a first in 150 years.

Maybe I was just watching wise rose tinted glasses when Eustace was here, but I'm sure he didn't send us out to be so niggly and dirty.

From minute one they were pushing our players in the air, blocking runs, tugging shirts. The useless ref didn't pull them up on anything so they doubled down on it.

What a horrible, horrible team.

Useless ref gave us a relatively soft penalty although it was one after viewing the replay.

Just flicking through the thread - is no-one talking about the stone wall penalty we didn't get for the foul on Gueye at the death?

Derby lad thought it was full time, he was trying to swap shirts.

The one where Sanderson scythed down Ohashi from behind? I mean...

Thats part of what makes him a good manager. Looks at every angle to minimise the oppositions chances, including slowing the game up and wasting time.

His record of retaining a lead once his team gets ahead must be very good everywhere he goes.

Struggles much more if his team goes behind, but we didnt manage to get anywhere near that today unfortunately.

They spoke about it on Sky and concluded, probably correctly, the contact wasn't sufficient to send Gueye to ground.

He should have gone to ground and given the ref a decision to make though.

Yeah that's exactly what happened.

I don't know where you sit in the ground, but I was in line with both penalties.

Sanderson dove in and took out Ohashi. Stonewall.

Firstly, SKY - LOL.

Secondly - he was clearly pulling his shirt and impeding him. It's as clear a foul as you'll see.

A bridge too far for us today. Removing Tronstad, Wharton and Toth from the lineup was too much for us to handle. Tuesday night came at a cost, but at least we actually held out for the 3 points which may end up being priceless. Due to our neglectful owners we do not have the depth to absorb such losses and we are only in early November! Selling Hyam without a replacement was simple greed. I don’t believe VI is a bad manager though and despite our obvious deficiencies we have a decent chance of staying up. Someone like Eustace would be perfect for the job though…. To be honest I think we’ve done okay to have as many points as we do given how poor the squad is. Due to the Ipswich debacle we are unlucky not to have another 3 points too. International break comes at a good time to hopefully get some rest and some bodies back.

Time wasting / slowing the game down / doubling up on Alebiosu is fine and clever tactics.

Sending your players out to foul from minute 1 until the ref calls you up on it (which he never did - what a weak individual he is) is beyond the pale.

It clearly took a half time teamtalk for our players to start giving some back as we were much more physical the second half.

Was watching it on TV.  They were side by side and Sandrerson marginally mistimed his challenge.

I thought he'd got a tiny bit of the ball in normal time. It was a pen on reviewing the replay but you see a lot worse not given when there's no VAR.

Must just be me, I thought Hedges was abysmal at Bristol and whilst he didnt make any major errors today he looked exactly what he was - someone playing completely out of position.

Why can't we play the young lad Atcheson, an ACTUAL centre back in that position?

Yep, it is- like Graham before him- if he saved you from drowning, you’d complain you were wet.

Once you make your mind up on somebody, they can’t ever do anything good, can they? 😬.

If it was at the other end and the ref gave it you'd be calling the ref every name under the sun and saying the contact was too minimal.

Another complete embarrassment today, latest in a long line of 15 years of them.

Most predictable result of the weekend, our lads just didnt seem to fancy it at all.

Second half looked better on the eye, but in reality Eustace will just have told Derby to sit back as he knew there was no way we could hurt them.

Eustace must be absolutely howling at this lot, and good on him too.

If my defender had been beaten and like that and then tried to pull the shirt off the player's back I'd have been livid.

Absolutely stonewall penalty.

Thought our long throw ins were especially ineffective today.

Didn't really make sense in doing them so much, with us having such a short forward line and Derby having such big defenders.

I mean, I know it worked out for them in terms of the result, but Derby were probably the worst footballing side I've seen this season.

Their tactics seemed to be 'hoof it as long and high as possible, then chase the ball'.

But then, I suppose, it is Eustace, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Unnecessarily abrasive.

Why arent you having a go at people ridiculously blaming Pears for the defeat today?

Hedges is shit.

At least Im consistent in my view and dont change my mind back and forwards every 5 mins whenever someone has a couple of ok games.

But if you like him at CB or anywhere else for that matter, knock yourself out - it's a game of opinions.

John Eustace wins Games...but as soon they get some injuries they will fall

..think with Wharton, Toth, Cantwell and Wharton we would had rolled them...to weak team today.

They have had injuries all season and still waiting to get players back!

Glad Eustace is gone. Terrible style of football.

You first have to build the foundations before you become more expansive (we played crap football when he saved us from the drop but noticeably improved the following season).  The fans firstly want winning football - if you want 'fancy/sexy' football trying following one of Russell Martin's teams (loathed by fans at Southampton and Rangers).

Montgomery played well again when coming on

He's better than Tavares we paid a lot of money for.

Think Tavares is crap and a waste of money.

Just don't understand the Montgomery 'fan club' - think he's over-hyped and not a patch on the much maligned Jason Lowe.  Not a Championship footballer.

You're better than that Andy.

Eustace was brilliant for us and also attempted to stand up to those twats.

Your ccomments sound petty and vindictive.

Not very well worded, but it was more a criticism of his interview style.

It's typical manager-speak, but he is particularly bad for it - as was at Ewood.

He did a good job for us and I quite like him, but his interviews are like fingernails on a chalkboard.
