Is there a deterrent for being useless at Blackburn Rovers?

no,it`s a pre requisite in the commercial and financial departments, the manager and coaches just have to bend over and take it,if they want a job

I am surprised that anyone thinks it should have been anything other than a red.

But it didnt cost us the game, thats the key. We held a 1 nil lead going into injury time, again. We might have not had that lead in a totally different game against 10, we might have had a stronger lead, we will never know. The game was thrown away by us, not the referee.

It IS denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Which is clearly was. Not an obvious goal.

You can't interpret rules differently based on a players ability and what they might do next attacker or defender in the phase of play that was denied.

If he's in the box it's a penalty and arguably a yellow card if he tried to play the ball. Outside the box the rules are clear that this is a red card. It's possibly the worst decision I've ever seen at Ewood.

As I say I'm certain it was club bias, I'm confident Pratt, McLoughlin or Miller walk if the roles are reversed.

Pretty much no difference apart from the distance to goal & that the ball is going to come down in the player's stride

Doesn’t matter about the distance to goal or the ball. He’s last man end of.

Bloody hell, Tronstad is hopeless and Miller even worse. Now you’re arguing with a fair minded Board member who has refereed at the highest level. What’s the view like from up there 🤷‍♂️

I was passing an opinion on Miller not attempting to be unpleasant towards you. He must have been responsible for at least half a dozen goals so far this season.

Don't think I've ever said Tronstad is "hopeless" pretty ordinary is more apt but either way my views on him are completely irrelevant to my views on Miller.

Apologies if you've taken umbrage at anything I've posted, it's a message board at the end of the day and I've merely posted my opinion, Im not attempting to upset anyone. I can't recall you taking particular exception to anything anyone else posted so if you don't like the stuff I post for whatever reason Id imagine the option is there to put me on ignore.

In the same period since we scored a last minute winner in front of fans, we have conceded 10 last minute winners to lose games.

I thought it might have been more to be fair, although we have conceded plenty of last minute equalisers too.

That is abysmal

Someone posted a link to a stat on X that read:

"Make that 17 result-changing goals conceded after the 90th minute since the start of 2021/22 season to 4 scored."

considering

The last 90+ minute winner in front of fans was November 2019, against Sheffield Wednesday at Ewood.

our form suggests that we will concede another in the 90+ min against Sheffield Wednesday

I think we were more hard done to by by the decision not to award a second corner right at the end than by the red that should or shouldnt have been given,  but either way you're right. We have to defend the situation at the end properly and the fact we failed to do so is 100% on us.

Anything else is just excuse making as Wheelton has said.

If the boot was on the other foot I would accept the red card without question.

You would but others on here? 😉

Nice to see we finally got round to DOGSO rather than 'last man' which is mentioned nowhere in the rules. (I knew the answer to my question Kidder.) 😉

Nice to see Miller get away with a clear yellow early on.

Terrifying the amount of time's that 'last man' has been cited in these discussions

It wasn't the ref's fault that we only scored 1 goal (again, that's 18 goals in 18 games - not enough) or that we conceded (again, that's still 0 clean sheets at home).

We could have defended a 1-0 lead far better than the disorganised chaotic mess that we provided (admittedly some may be down to tiredness but not the whole story).

And what happened last night is exactly the reason why the game should have been replayed in full. A goal in the last 30 seconds - even if undeserved over the 90 minutes - can easily happen, especially with our dismal home record.

We have only scored 4 more goals than Sheffield Wednesday this season, 4.

they are right at the bottom of the table, with a points deduction.

For the record, I would have given a pen and thought so in the ground despite the 4 criteria but not as clear cut as many mention.

As to bias against Rovers -well...like your posts Ghost but think you are paranoid here (but then there will be shedloads of fans at other clubs who think the same -so the refs must be biased against everybody.?😉

Playing for a corner gives the decision to the ref. Just kick it out for a throw-in near the corner flag, it doesn't matter which team gets the throw, it isn't going to end up putting us in danger. having said that we should still be able to defend the oppositions goal-kick.

It was a corner imo. But refs after acouple of tussels in the corner usually just give a goalkick just to stop the aggro. Not saying it is right. And so, how is it that from right in their corner we concede? Perhaps more of a pressing issue.

As to Ismael’s list. Dear, oh dear. Straight out of central office. I wonder how long it has been ready to go for massive deflection purposes. Smells like those ‘communications’ put out about minutes or why players leave or why we can’t get certain players or why it’s the fans’ fault.

Victim culture, deflection of blame, excuses.

Completely agree. We're singing from the same hymn sheet.

A couple of things went against us that might have gone the other way but this non stop assassination of referees and the bizarre notion that there's some sort of conspiracy against us or that it only happens to us,  is frankly ridiculous and embarrassing.

It's one thing for supporters who are naturally going to be biased to be saying it - for our Head Coach - dear me.

Lets see him try and cover up not getting three points come Saturday!!☺️

Whatever the outcome, something will happen at some point during the game that he'll latch onto as an excuse.

To varying degrees. Alebiosu has been consistently very good. Gudjohnsen might not offer much in general play but strikers need to score goals and he keeps getting them, another success.

The others are much more mixed. Morishita flits in and out, has ability but often ineffective. McLoughlin is average. Miller can be decent but has a mistake in him and is poor on the ball. TGH, barely average. Forshaw has done well in the last 2 although last night only lasted 55 minutes and youd be hard pushed to suggest hes been a success overall.

The thing is, we have signed far too many who are not only underwhelming, they are absolutely nowhere near it. A squad cant afford to have so many players signed that are as bad as some of ours are.

For me i really rate McCloughlin. A good addition marshaling Pratt and Miller, and gets his blocks in and physically competes, and is good getting the ball out. Made a couple of errors early on but very solid recently.

Gudjonsen I have problems with in terms of offering enough in pressing and holding the ball up, but he is intelligent in his movement and getting goals.

Miller is hot and cold, but happy enough with him.

Mori I am seeing a big improvement over the last few games. Has a bit of quality which we need, and not getting blown off the ball like he was a month ago.

Forshaw showing he can do that holding role well is a big gain as we can take some of the pressure off Tronstad, but agree its not ideal he can't do more than 60 mins.

TGH I think has done really well. Dont really miss Travis he is so similar.

Overall I am feeling much more positive about our midfield and defence than a month ago. Derby completely owned us, and other big physical sides (of which there seem to be remarkably few) will hurt us. But outside of that we seem more capable than I anticipated given the turnover.

I'd like to think that the majority are fair minded and balanced in their observations. 😉
