Decent save from Toth on 49 - first time either keeper's really been called into action.

Horrible weather - lashing down with rain -poor game - I feel for the fans that travelled over there.

It's all about the result and getting through into the hat for the next round.

Nothing else.

Not the first time I've said this, but a half of poor quality from both sides.
It was akin to watching two alcoholics throwing punches at each other outside of The Sun, on a Saturday afternoon.

The slight positives being that we were the slightly better of the two drunks.
Toth in for Calamity is always a positive, making a save at the death that Pears gets beaten at his near post for.

Thought Cashin looked decent, as did the defence in general.

Montgomery pleasantly surprised me, slight glimpses of quality to go with the industry. Better than TGH for sure.

Nothing going forward, but happy to give them some slack considering Dlamini and Powell make up most of that forward line.

Probably better than I expected at HT, but it was still shit.

I think the 3 x CBs have looked mostly untroubled. That’s about the only positive. Monty and Powell look quick and Miller is gonna hit someone.

A rough and tumble game but right now I’ll settle for effort and commitment, which we’ve had plenty of in that half, which was played predominantly in their half. More successful tackles than I’ve seen us make in a half for a long time and Miller earning his spot by not backing down from Coyle.

That statement presupposes that the 3rd round Cup tie doesnt matter which I couldnt disagree more with.

Main take outs from the first half Id say is that whilst there's been plenty of enthusiasm on display from the Academy lads there's been a distinct lack of quality and no one out there that makes you sit up and say "wow they could come in and make a difference at Championship level".

Ill agree they dont look any worse than the dross Rudy signed though.

Exactly this.  The Academy kids aren't stand out players.  6-7 years ago none of this crop would be near the first team.

That they look no worse than the summer recruitment shows how shit it was.

Considering the selection it's difficult to criticise them to be honest.

I like Powell but he's looking a bit lost in that more central post. Not sure he's played there before.

Montgomery and Cashin the two stand outs for me that half. TGH ok as well

he is`nt,you`de find a better player in the bottom league or conference

It is astounding that the same scouting team have somehow scoured one league and come up with Alebiosu, Gudjohnsen,, Gueye & De Neve

Which did they get by mistake? the good ones or the shit ones?

If you think about it, it's quite an achievement to find as poor players as Henriksson, De Neve, TGH, and Tavares, never mind all of them in only one window.

Throw in Kargbo and Gueye the previous season and the form really is something.

The young lads have done well but this system doesn't seem to suit them much. Not sure what Dlamini's natural position is tbh.

TBF to Henriksson, he's done ok upfront (largely on his own), battled away but he obviously lacks quality and isn't a striker in a million years.

We'll come unstuck because we have nothing in attack, other than the young lads running around a bit.

Wide player,

Goal record of 0 in 2 years at u21 level, 1 in every 6 games at u18 level

He is not a striker

I think the two CBs would have found their way into the first team reasonably soon, but Dlamini, Powell and Montgomery don't look anything special so far.

Baffled by Henriksson. I expected so much more from him when he signed but he looks way off it. Hoping he's just a slow burner and he comes alive next season (maybe against worse opposition).

Honestly so much this - of all the signings we made Henriksson was the one that looked the least like a shot in the dark, we seemed to have done plenty of scouting, he was an early priority and we seemingly put a lot of effort into bringing him in, only to either not play him or play him out of position where he's looked poor.

I think to this day that the idea is that he's got the potential to be a Szmodics - style no.10 (or however you would define the role Szmods played for us), but I honestly can't see it - he'd need to kick on a lot.

As you say, he might absolutely tear up league one once we have sold Cantwell and everyone else ahead of him.

Until it’s five to two.

Oh, the old "I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woke up with a few" line?

I'm still at a loss why he's been fast tracked into the first team.  He doesn't appear to have stood out at youth level.

Although if you can run 10k, that seems to get you in the team under Dismael.

I still think Gueye was misused here - but ignoring that for a moment, I don't think it's any surprise that Alebiosu (Arsenal Academy) and Gudjohnsen (Real Madrid Academy) have turned out ok.

Completely agree

Unless Joseph is injured, I do not understand whey he isn't in or around the bench at least

or if he is injured, then Higgins

Both are at least strikers

From what I've seen of him I think he's a #10 in a 4-2-3-1, or the more advanced CM in any formation like a 5-3-2 / 4-3-3 / 3-4-3.

He'll score and create goals if you play him enough in his correct position - he's clearly got something about him - but asking him to play as a #9 against 2 CBs is just cruel.
