It's just the typical thing one of the Indian owners might do if they get wind he's interested. Big name to trumpet about back in India where most of em are Man U fans.

Plus he works cheap if he really wants the job and will probably agree to walk for nothing if it doesn't work.

I can’t think of anyone who has the flexibility to think tactically to get us out of this mess. And then build a solid team of youth and experience to compete in the championship.

Like someone else mentioned...Warner or Hassenhuttl for me out of what's available.

Rowett could be a potential short-term fix.Keep us up and then review.

Warner and Rowett have both had some success in the championship previously, Hassenhuttl has never managed there so a bit riskier.

Not too many exciting choices out there though.

Please not Rooney and definitely not Coleman.

I've watched pretty much all the Saints games, what with living down here, and even more pre-match/post-match content with Will Still. 

He's actually said multiple times that he doesn't really have a preferred style. He just tries to win games with the players he has and if they suit a certain style then he'll go with it. I'm sure he also spoke about wanting to change the way Southampton played but was restricted to the personal he had so couldn't. I guess a bit like V.Ismael saying the same with our lot (maybe a common excuse when you're losing? 😂). 

Personally, putting Saints results aside, I actually really liked him as a person. He comes across brilliant in interviews and doesn't shy away from performances from the team and his own. It's quite refreshing. Maybe that's what helped his demise - the players probably heard a lot of reality checks that they're not used to.

Would I like him at Blackburn? Probably yes - I think he could be a good fit for us....however, throwing him into a relegation scrap is probably not the right time for him or for us.

Forgot to add - Hassenhuttl 

A big no for me. Again, at Southampton I believe his assistants were the key to his success. When they went, so did his form and job.

I could be wrong but I think they're all in management work elsewhere now.

Edit:

Danny Rohl was one of the assistants. He's now at Rangers and was linked to us when at Wednesday a year or so ago I think.

Yes. As they have a really bad owner and at the time had a load of players who had talent but gave zero effort. A bit similar to us - we have a bad owner but players with arguably no talent that gave effort. 😂

Don't worry about the odds. The betting market will be small and the amount of Coleman tweets will drive a few to have a flutter; it only takes a few to drive the odds up.

Another rumour today will see that fall.

Appointing Coleman will piss off a lot of hardcore fans, let alone the already stayaways. It will be devastating to the ST sales next year and despite all of the detachment our board have shown even they are not that silly.

What do we think are the chances of having a new manager in place in time for Saturday?

Unlikely I'd say, I suspect that they will breathe a sigh of relief after the win last night and feel some pressure is off and send DJ to Norwich on Saturday, giving them a full week after that to do something.

Although we won I'd say the need for a new manager is even more clear after last night - I'm not suggesting DJ was responsible for that performance but it is quite clear we need a strong, experienced, no-nonsense manager to get to work quickly to give us any chance of survival.

Agreed (I hope)

A lot of us have remarked in the past about how it seems to suit the Club's purposes to stay in the Championship for whatever reason.  Whenever we have a realistic shot at the play offs they seem to deliberately derail it. Conversely the last time we were in danger of relegation they did actually remove Coyle (albeit too late) and relatively speaking threw the kitchen sink at it trying to get back up by refusing to shed any high earners and signing Armstrong on loan in January.

Now they've sacked Ismael as well which many of us thought they wouldnt do having given him a 3.5 year deal. I don't think even they are stupid enough to spend money on potting Ismael then put themselves back in exactly the same position by appointing Coleman.

Could it be ? I mean, who wouldn't turned down a German giant to come here.
