  1. I'd rather we didn't chuck 30k a week at Mikel, hes exactly the sort of player I wouldn't pay to see - old, expensive, would never really give a shit. Give me a Travis any day.

  2. We really need a recognisable first team player with Championship experience who can displace one of our current regulars. Our squad isn’t up to it so some of our subs need to go and be replaced on the bench by some of our current starters.

  3. A choice between Brad Friedel or Jake Kean in their respective primes - would it make any difference to our goals against column if everything else remained the same? Tricky one

  4. You're talking about a game that happened in like 2003. The current Celtic team aren't anywhere near as strong as that team was.

  5. 2pm - Talks about Descartes, metaphysics and disestablishmentarinism and how it relates to an away game at Barnsley. 5pm - knocks the opposing manager out in the tunnel and is boxed in in the car park as he tries to do a runner by local plod

  10. We are going round in circles (similar to our defenders). My view is we should stick with Raya, and get a good center half and left full-back. Adios.

  12. Couldn’t get near him that day. Class above. Exactly the type of player that we need in next Travis.

  13. Lowest league crowd of the season. Play offs matches aren’t covered by season tickets. So no surprise, as just like here, a good number of season ticket holders just don’t buy match tickets.

  14. Cheers for that. Hate him or hate him, that line about “taking the ball off better players than him and giving it to better players than him - and making a career out of it” (which I expect he is regurgitating) is quite a good motivator for average players. Might well give that a watch. Enjoyed the Sunderland one.

  15. Fleetwood have a Sunderland style documentary coming out. Looks good. Bit of brawling on the dressing room and Joey talking like a Greek philosopher. Trailer here if interested

  16. People always say that when there's lots of runs. I love to see wickets falling as much if not more than runs made. The balance yesterday was wrong. Too many of one and not enough of the other. Needs to showcase both sets of skills

  17. Pretty sure Vaulks also has a long throw on him a'la Pedersen.

  18. Positions we need this summer Left back- martin olsson should be high up the wishlist Cebtreback- investment needed here Centre mid - john obi mikel out of contract hes only 31 under the right manager he could boss the midfield Keeper - Scott Carson another good buy on a free Striker- Graham cant keep doing what hes doing, this is probably where the real investment needs to be, We dont need any more really the squad we allredy have plus a selection of experienced professionals will be more than enough to get out of this league

  20. Celtic reached the UEFA Cup Final after knocking us out in 2003. Celtic didn't survive the qualifying rounds for the Champions League this season. 20 years ago, teams in the Scottish Premier used to beat English Premier League clubs in the UEFA Cup but now outside the Glasgow Old Firm, I very much doubt any Scottish club would be much above mid-table in the Championship. Old Firm clubs are about Burnley level.

  21. Incredible that Eddie Smart couldn't spot Chelsea scoring a goal a few yards offside at Cardiff yet today he managed to see a foul by Bogle on Harrison that no one else did.

  22. They’d done bugger all for years before this season.

  23. If you look at the Championship players who got fifteen or more goals this season, very few of them cost close to 7M... Pukki - 29 goals - free Maupay - 25 goals - 1.6m Abraham - 25 goals - loan Sharp - 23 goals - 650k Gayle - 23 goals - loan Rodriquez - 22 goals - 12m McBurnie - 22 goals - 315k Adams - 22 goals - 2m Bowen - 22 goals - £0 Grabban - 16 goals - £6m Dack - 15 goals - 750k McGoldrick - 15 goals - free Wilson - 15 goals - loan Now I know part of Brereton's fee was 'for the future' and because he was young and had potential, but at the same time should a club just promoted from League 1 be splashing £7m on players 'for the future' when there are positions in need of attention in the present? To my mind, the answer to this is no. That type of money should only have been spent on a player who could have an instant impact, irrespective of their age or potential. Literally the only player to cost more than Brereton in the above list was Jay Rodriguez, who WBA bought when they were still in the Premier League. I don't think there is any real excuse for the fee we paid for Brereton, especially when you see that the likes of McBurnie only cost £315k, Maupay was £1.6m, Che Adams £2m, Billy Sharp £650k and even our own Bradley Dack was only £750k. It's very hard to argue we did anything other than massively overspend on Brereton, almost to the point of total madness.

  24. I've actually met a few who are well balanced. They have a chip on both shoulders (where Rovers are concerned at least). ?
