  1. Is there anything to suggest Mowbray is interested in any of the player links you will post this summer?

  2. But the hits massively outweigh the misses when one measures by contribution rather than headcount. Even without Samuel we’d have barely registered a point before Oct. One thing I like about Mowbray is he didn’t persist with the failures too long

  3. That’s a pretty useful squad right there.

  4. If we are looking for another defender - I’d be looking at Jordan Willis the centre back who scored in the playoff final today for Coventry. Big, young and athletic.

  5. Antonnson was poor throughout his stay at Ewood. Only the goals he scored in the half of the season papered over his lack of contributions to general play. Once the goals dried up he had nothing to offer. I wouldn't have him back on a free. If you don't shine at this level you won't do any better playing at a higher level.

  6. Rich Sharpe confirmed in the LT that there was a '7-figure' transfer fee agreed as part of MA's loan arrangement. I'm not sure he's worth more than Dack and for a million we can do a lot better. I don't think we are as 'beggary' as we were last season. Ewood will be an attractive place for young talented lads who are out of contract elsewhere. We are certainly a more attractive proposition than we were this time last year.

  7. Shilton 6' 1" Iker Casillas 6' 1" Carry On Karius 6' 2" Matt Dickins - 6' 4". As I often tell my wife, size doesn't matter so stop pointing and laughing. It just isn't nice behaviour.

  8. I like Armstrong a lot & thought he was a breath of fresh air when he signed in January. That said, he struggled in the last month or so & missed a few gilt edged chances during then, but there's clearly quality there not just pace. I see the comparisons with Michael Owen (who was a better finisher) and also Craig Bellamy. He could do worse than model himself on the latter; many teams will come to Ewood next season (esp in the first half of it) thinking they can get at us and play a high line, rather than pack the defence & hit us on the break like happened painfully often the season just gone. The way Bellamy played for us was nothing short of sensational, so often breaking off the shoulder from the half way line, and if we can find a role for him in the side next season much like Bellamy had, who can exploit a high line via medium distance passes from midfield or the back, he'd be a real asset as an alternative to a target man style CF. Oh, and we'd also need a new CM to see and make those passes; I'm not sure our current options have the speed of thought, vision or accuracy to link up with Arma in that way too often. I don't see enough football beyond Rovers to know who might realistically fulfil that role tho, any ideas?

  9. I would definitely take Nsiala as a 3rd choice CB 2nd choice RB. Sadler and Beckles look dodgy as, yet he was rock solid anyway. Plus he is 6ft 3" and 26 years old with 1 year to go on his contract, perhaps a bid in the £400-800k range would get him??? Is he younger and better than Ward? Yes. Is he younger and better than Caddis? Yes. Is he younger and better than Downing? Yes. (IMO) Does he have a cool sounding name? Yes.

  10. ""Blackburn Rovers player Bradley looked sharp in a blue top – which by the end of the night had a spillage on the shoulder."" Hope it wasn't the team mate in the corner of the room thing again

  11. Yeah let Leeds sort out their own dropped bollock,

  12. I've watched him closely since his antics at Ewood and I don't think he's great. Very suspect on high balls. I certainly wouldn't swap Raya for him.

  14. Rose doesn’t get in over Alba. Walker I’ll give you because I think Carvajal is out. Costa or Kane is very debatable.

  15. Awful. Too many Umbro badges in my opinion.

  16. That article says we won league 1 Seriously. How difficult is it to get that right?

  17. What you saw in the second half of the season was the reality of the situation. He lacks the basic footballing requirements of a striker like pace, and aggression. He scored several goals cutting in from out on the left without ever looking like 1) a winger, 2) a central striker. Let's see what he does next season with Leeds. I'll bet a pound to a penny that he doesn't start in the two games against Rovers.

  20. Spain have the talent to win it. They are solid from back to front. However, if Costa gets a strop on or injures himself (he's injury prone so a distinct possibility) they are light up front. They aren't the quickest at the back either. Pique and Ramos are still good but are past their peak. I'm all hope for England. Game 1 is 3 weeks today.

  21. Goalkeepers: David De Gea (Manchester United), Pepe Reina (Napoli), Kepa (Athletic Bilbao) Defenders: Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Nacho (all Real Madrid), Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique (both Barcelona), Nacho Monreal (Arsenal), Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Odriozola (Real Sociedad) Midfield: Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta(both Barcelona) Saúl, Koke (both Atletico), Thiago (Bayern) David Silva (Manchester City), Isco, Marco Asensio, Lucas Vázquez (all Real Madrid) Forward: Iago Aspas (Celta), Rodrigo (Valencia), Diego Costa (Atletico) Quarter finals at best? Are you having a laugh?

  22. 4-4-2? We mostly played 4-2-3-1 all season. If Mowbray switch to 3-5-2 formation I wouldnt have a problem as we have the players to suit us. Probably need right wing back and Armstrong to make this work. Isnt Antonsson on 6k week? Naive??? Haha. Or just believe in Mowbray totally. Big fan of his management, the way he talks to fans, open and honest communication and want the best for this club. Wouldnt say Samuel was a miss either. He scored goals that won us games. I probably say undecided. The other 5 miss you put in 4 were free and Harper was a loan.

  23. So hypothetically if rovers drew Man City in the cup and they started having a go you would join in with them?

  24. Exactly. There's still stuff for Mowbray to prove when it comes to the building blocks for the future. People can argue if they like about tactics, etc but most of the key squad members were inherited. Chaddy's typically naive to say that he has 100% faith but for me it's one of the remaining question marks. Of course there's only so much anyone can do if there's limited backing (and at most it's not gonna eclipse most of the league like last year) but some managers make the most of what they get. Some even do better with lesser budgets. Let's see how Mowbray answers such questions with his actions. Dack obviously was a success. Smallwood worked out but the others were loans (in Downing's case he performed well but you can hardly see it as some genius astute move because the loan was last minute) or signings which were inconsistent or fizzled out a bit. As for Nuttall I don't think Mowbray intended to play him last season. He signed more cover as soon as he could. With Chapman he probably used his contacts at Middlesbrough though not saying it isn't logical. I'm not going through each individual case but 100% faith at this point is ridiculous. Not to mention impossible anyway whoever the manager is.

  26. Like the sound of Nsiala but Ogogo should be considered as well. Shrews have not been the same since he got injured and he is out of contract.

  27. He can only be coming as back up. I'm hoping Raya will really make a name for himself next season.

  28. I'd be ok with that I think although whenever I see Rovers, Bolton and Wigan linked with the same player it troubles me. He was a good little keeper though but was way down the pecking order when last here, had a decent career though so he'd be very useful if he's still fit.

  29. If you say so...you obviously never saw him play for england

  31. Maybe but his agent nicko is playing hardball on personal terms.

  32. I have thought this for some time. Its almost as if he is a generation too late. 15 years ago he could well be plying his trade in the PL back when front twos were commonplace. Not too disimilar to a Michael Owen type. With one up top being practically the norm these days, small nippy players like him will find it difficult as they do not have the physicality to play the lone role and need a partner. If I were him, I would do my best to learn and master the inside forward role that he has now as getting a striking berth is going to be tough for him.
