  1. Score? Report? Any more news?
  2. Have to disagree there. Was Cruyff better than Finney? Silly question really because football has progressed in craft and speed. Messi and C Ronaldo are definitely the best players of today.
  3. That is a great line. I'm the same. My son is the same. And my grandson is beginning to think the same. When Jack took over the Rovers, I and my son thought we would be top 4 in the Prem for ever. I was regretting my dad not seeing it. He died in 1965. Then, of course, there was May 2017, relegation into League 1. We've watched the brilliance and the abhorrent throughout our lives. And, I suppose, it will continue to be ups and downs forevermore.
  4. Thanks for adding to it 1864 ?
  5. 3-0. Well well well!! I must forecast 1-4 scorelines more often.? We grew in confidence as the game went on. I was impressed with everyone, even Bennett, Conway and Williams. Lovely debut by Tyler Magloire. Big lad. Fast runner. Put himself about. Needs coaching to gain the nous of how to win headers. I bet he's delighted. I'm glad we won by that margin just for Mowbray's sake.
  6. Because Magloire is not a Phil Jones. In fact Wharton, Platt and Grayson are probably ahead of Magloire in the pecking order but Mr Potato head has sent them all out on loan. TM will pick the usual boring team of Raya; Bennett, Nyambe, Williams, Bell; Evans, Smallwood; Reed, Dack, Armstrong; Graham and we'll get thrashed by a bulky Wigan team who will be more up for it than we are. You mark my words................................1-4 to Wigan And, after that, nothing will change.........again.
  7. This had me apoplectic. We just stopped playing and then kicked it out of play. Very unprofessional. You MUST play to the whistle every time. Mowbray has had time to shake things up and hasn't done so. Seems incapable. He has to speak to the owners, maybe move upstairs and let a more competent manager take over. Don't blame the awful ref for the poor performance. Blame Mowbray and his ageing players; square pegs in round holes AGAIN.
  8. One of them coming at Ewood Park?
  9. All the history books refer to Rovers colours as blue and white quarters. A blue piece and a white piece on the front and a blue piece and a white piece on the back. Four pieces of a whole are known as quarters. Two seasons ago we really did have blue and white halves where the blue part at the front continued over the shoulder into the blue part at the back. Awful kit. I know in modern times that most people refer to the shirt as halves. Similarly railway stations are now known as train stations. I prefer the correct description.
  10. Letting our only 3 centre backs go out on loan was lunacy. Lenihan, Mulgrew and Rodwell are midfielders; square pegs in round hole.
  11. He has to bring in some youngsters who will battle more than the current squad. Maybe he should give himself a rest and let Jonno take us to the end of the season.
  12. Oh. Now I get it. Silly me. Well. add to those Raith, Albion and Shamrock. And how about your best manager? Very difficult choice, this. First I remember was Jackie Bestall. Kenny is the obvious choice but what about Souness, Hughes, Mackay and Saxton? I'll get the ball rolling with Gordon Lee.
  13. I'll tell you what will transpire in the next couple of matches. We'll get thrashed by PNE and Wigan at home and all because of the ineptitude of our manager. That's what will transpire.
  14. And I want all this plus a proper shirt of proper blue and white quarters.
  15. Hows about TM moving upstairs as Director of Football and appointing a good young manager, preferably a German. He can then look after the club as he has done admirably and give control of training etc. to a more competent person.
  16. Then we are stuffed.
  17. He's lost it. He sends Downing and Wharton out on loan with no bring-back clause. Seriously, what he needs to do now is bring in at least one (preferably two) giant central defenders on loan to the end of the season. If not, I can see us dropping into the bottom 3 after the last match of the season.
  18. Up to Mowbray. I am not confident.
  19. I think Duggie himself would disagree with you there, Jim.
  20. Jim's team was interesting. I wouldn't have McEvoy in mine because he was a great poacher who relied on knock downs and loose balls therefore needing a big man with him. It's very difficult to put yesteryear's footballers in the same team as modern players because the game has totally changed in fitness and pace; and in the laws of the game that don't allow brilliant sliding tackles from behind like Mike England used to do. However, here is my shot: Freidel Newton Henchoz England Eckersley Douglas Clayton Tugay Duff Shearer Bellamy
  21. I cannot understand people who are involved with more than one club. That's all. Where do their allegiances lie?
  22. Really? You're not mixing him up with Paul O'Gorman by any chance are you?
  23. North End are currently a very good side having won their last 4 away games; the form team of the division. We will have to be at our best to overcome them. Should be a great game. With Burnley not in this league at present, this game is our derby game. Rovers expect every man to do his duty....................etc.etc.
  24. Glad he's not involved in ownership of Rovers then. And to think that at one time I wished Battersby and Currie would become our owners. Best to stick with the "nice" family in Pune.
