  1. So was David May who didn't know that 1928 was the year Rovers last won the FA cup. But he was still a very good player for us. Loved this podcast. Keep 'em coming. Earlier someone mentioned Bryan Douglas. I listened to him some years ago at Brindle Village Hall. He was extremely interesting. If it hasn't been done already, Dougie should put all his stories onto audio for posterity. His experiences are entertaining and educational. And will benefit future generations. I'm a firm believer in recording the present and memories of the past for future historians.
  2. I always forget Jim Arnold who I believe was a terrific keeper. I never saw him play unfortunately.
  3. A true Rover with lots of experience?
  4. Best goalkeeper I've ever seen at Rovers. Better than Elvy, Else, R Jones, Gennoe and Flowers. That's why he was voted keeper in best ever Rovers team.
  5. I doubt it. But Spurs will.
  6. I thought Brereton did well today both in attack and in defence. I can see the "potential" that he is labelled with. He will get better. He is enjoying his time at Rovers so far according to the LT.
  7. Fair play to you, CP. I never thought you'd come back on this thread after losing. If it's any consolation, I reckon Bielsa is doing a great job. Best Leeds side I've seen in many years. I think you will be in the top 3 towards the end of the season. I thought we, Rovers, are getting better and better. Enjoying this season immensely.
  8. I hate the word "indoctrination" when you try to bring up your children to know and love the things that you do. It seems accusative; as if you are doing wrong.
  9. It won't be Venkys or Rovers or TM who decides to sell Dack to another club. It will be Dack himself, such is player power these days. I cannot see him going to WBA or another championship club. I was going to suggest that Burnley might make a bid. However, if Spurs are really interested, it's a done deal at the right money. Dack will be going home to play for a top 6 Prem side.
  10. Has he got an amazing dancing bear?
  11. I didn't get Ben Marshall, Man City (didn't look at the year), Tugay, and had Sunderland instead of Man Utd. Good quiz, Tonyoz. More please.
  12. Yep. Time should be away from the ref. Regards diving, it's difficult to tell if someone dives, is knocked off balance or loses balance innocently. I think a lot of refs get it wrong regularly because it is so difficult to tell the difference. I still regard MGPedersen with contempt since his blatant attempt at cheating.
  13. It was just like Rovers away at Stoke. 3-0 up and we are struggling to hold on to the lead in the second half. In both games we could have and should have lost. However I'm as delighted with the result as an Iceland fan would have been when they beat England.
  14. D'Margio, D'Margio, wherefore art thou D'Margio?
  15. Surely you have some Rovers history books. Bob Crompton, Syd Puddefoot, Harry Healless, Ted Harper and Eddie Latheron were well before my time but I am well aware of them and their contribution to the club. Incidentally I did see Albert Nightingale play. Around 1952. His modern day equivalent is Bradley Dack. Well, not exactly. Let's say Roy Wegerley. Remember him?
  16. I thought we saw the game out better than normal today.
  17. I was amazed at Mowbray's team selection and very pleased in the way it worked. OK, we lost momentum as Bolton came back at us. But that starting 11 needs to be repeated over and over again until they gel properly and dominate the opposition for longer. Never thought TM would pick such a team. I feel great tonight.
  18. (You talking about Lowe) I thought that about Dack.
  19. Are we on TV? I cannot find it on Sky or BT. Found it. We are on Sky.
  20. Looks like no one can help you there, mate. When you come, can you bring the Swiss railway network with you to replace ours, please?
  21. Would that have been "Lytham Kitchen" by any chance? Some years ago I saw him in the window there on a week day when he was Everton manager and wondered why he wasn't on the training ground. He wasn't smiling then. He was just normal. He was wearing what social media now call " a normal, relaxed bitch face". ?
  22. I was surprised to see 14440 as the crowd v Sheff Utd according to BBC. Our crowd v Nottm Forest was 14440. Also on Saturday PNE had 14099 v WBA and Bolton had 14096 v Derby C. All very close but we had the biggest.
  23. What sort of meat? Steak, steak and kidney, meat and potato, chicken balti or other?
  24. Mowbray has been more than a manager to this club. If it weren't for him coming in and winning the total confidence of the Raos, we would be in League 2 by now. He has brought in not only better players but also reliable people to run the club as it should be run. It's work in progress. We must stick with him. One good thing about Mowbray which I didn't see from many previous managers is that he is not afraid to make changes in formation and bring on subs. We pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and go again on Saturday.
  25. I always look forward to these, Tony. Well done and keep them coming.
