Football League Suspended

This makes me angry all over again, so thanks, Vinjay! One thing I don't get is even after all this "our club/our fault" contrition/aka "learning from their mistakes", we had to stomach a whole sickening parade of car-crash, awful appointments-Shebby Singh, Paul Agnew, Paul Senior....all the way to Owen Coyle, so...do I feel lucky?! -

You're not kidding! I am late to the party with this one. I have only just watched it. I didn't expect it to be literal, but why they should deviate quite so far from the historical facts I don't know. I had forgotten quite a lot of Rovers' history, but I knew we had been in the final against Old Etonians before Olympic actually won it. I was surprised to see that Old Etonians had hardly won it at all in real life. Also, I am sure others will know that Suter never played for the first Blackburn team to win the FA Cup. Also, Rovers were never even questioned about the payment of players. I don't know about Olympic. Others were actually expelled from the competition. I think PNE were one such club. Bastards, even then lol Making "Blackburn" play in claret rankled a little, but I suspect someone on the production team is having a laugh. At least, they painted Monkey Hornby, as an all-round good egg! -

You are right there, but it is too hard to resist a dig at the self righteous concept of "football integrity".. -

Was that the "Timmy's got red boots on" game? (Sherwood tapping his foot to the beat of the away fans' chant, as he picked up the ball for a throw-in..) -
Kidd certainly managed PNE..but way back I think he also managed a nonleague side, although I can't find proof! . I remember a (bitter) supporter from that other club contacting Radio Lancs on his Rovers appointment to predict total disaster, saying how everything he touches, as a manager, turns to sh1t It sent a chill through our whole house!..

Great thread. Delicious memories. I love and remember all the above suggestions, although we were still in the car park for Kennedy's Van Basten moment at Villa. A few others, including 3 from Tony Field. 1) his famous dribble, leaving 4/5 defenders for dead before scoring in the Blackburn End in the 5-0 defeat of Watford 2) a similar mazy dribble before scoring at the same end v Charlton 3) a stunning strike from the Nuttall St side of the pitch, just a few yards into the Darwen End half that flew into the Darwen End net in a 4- trouncing of Lincoln 4) (although sullied by the fact that Coyle was the manager), that goal by Graham at Derby after some 30 odd passes!

Funny, I am pretty certain that the Brighton game was indeed a night match. Both the Bournemouth and Brighton games were close together, towards the end of the season. The McNamee goal was struck from practically the halfway line too. Special long shot mention to Johnny Price v Bradford from a similar place...
