  1. The nations league need scraping tbh. Also any teams that are playing in the world cup shouldn't be playing games this summer.
  2. I would say needing 6 signings doesn't mean squad is threadbare at all
  3. Gregg Broughton in his Rovers TV interview outlined the strategy and I am looking forward to seeing it getting implement here. not for me. What I have outlined in my post is what I think we should be doing. BTW, you can only named 7 subs but used 5 subs from the 7 subs. Regulation changes agreed at the EFL's Annual General Meeting | rovers.co.uk so around 10 signings and our good prospects like Jack Vale, Ash Phillips and Jake Garrett pathway into the first team squad is blocked by these signings then? I would loan JRC out for this season and let him play regular football somewhere, So Buckley isn't a first teamer? woah I think Kaminski, Pickering, Wharton, Travis, Dack, Buckley, Possibe Nyambe, Hedges, Dolan and maybe Gallagher would be first teamers. I think Carter will come back a very improved player from last season loan spell at Pompey.
  4. . Not at all the case but trying to more open minded and adapt my view point when the 2 head coaches I wanted went elsewhere I wanted Farke or Carvalhal, neither are coming here and gone elsewhere. After that I not sure who I wanted who fitted that criteria. Wagner's post Huddersfield spells aren't great and Jokanovic at Sheffield United wasn't the best. So after that I'm not sure who I want tbh. I mention Xisco Munoz cos of his experience at Watford but he has limited experience to be fair. I would rather go for someone like JDT or Xisco Munoz then someone who is past the best and we seen several names mention on here
  5. Not real cos Senior was appointed 7 months after Coyle was. With the appointment of Gregg Broughton, I see it that Rovers have put a proper footballing strategy in place now and he will oversee it. I listened to his twice and He seems to have a strategy of how he was build the club up and what he wants to put in place for us to be successful and to gain promotion. On the budget, no we don't know how much we got to spend but this is where smart and organise recruitment plan comes into play. Our squad isn't threadbare at all. We need about 6 signings. 1. right back if Nyambe doesn't sign a new contract 2. centre back as it appears Lenihan won't be signing a new contract if the media reports are correct. 3. 2 centre midfielders 4. left winger 6. pacey striker plus promoting 4 players from the under 23's in James Brown, Ash Phillips Jake Garrett and Jack Vale into the first team squad. So the squad would look like this GK's :- Kaminski, Pears, Eastham RB's :- Nyambe/New signing, Brown CB's :- Wharton, Carter, Ayala, Phillips, new signing, LB's :- Pickering, Edun CM's :- Travis, Buckley(He can also play the AM role), Garrett, 2 new signings RW's :- Hedges, Markanday AM :- Dack, LW :- Dolan, New signing ST :- Gallagher, Vale, new signing Thats a 23 man squad there I haven't include Ben Brereton Diaz as I feel that he will leave this season and I haven't included Dan Butterworth and Tyler Maglorie cos I would let both go
  6. Daniel Farke, Thomas Frank and David Wagner had very limited amount of experience as a head coach before leading their clubs to promotion. If they feel Jon Dahl Tomasson is right fit for the head coach role here then appoint him and made an announcement on it
  7. You say no chance like its a fact. You have no idea but its does seem like we have strategy in place now we appoint a DoF and hopefully close to appoint head coach. Lets see what happens in the summer.
  8. Maybe we might actually spend some money if Brereton is sold. What is Troy Parrott's strengths? He got 8 goals in 41 games for MK Dons last season. I would look at Ryan Hardie from Plymouth who scored 16 goals in 37 games.
  9. someone on here a few weeks asked why so many of our fast bowlers were breaking down with Injuries lot. Here is Darren Gough's take on these injuries problems Darren Gough delivers verdict on England's fast bowling injury crisis with nine stars out (msn.com)
  10. Crawley got a very good ball to get out to. Pope looks very like Ian Bell with those cover drives today
  11. Yes he played for Newcastle United in the 90's when King Kenny Dalglish was manager was there. Also he played in Germany, Italy, Holland and Spain during his playing career. Also when he managed at Malmo, his wife and 2 kids stay in Holland whilst he worked there. He has vast knowledge of the English game and I'm sure he will know some knowledge of the European market. He looks a very good appointment on the face of it. All relevant to be honest Yes I wanted Farke and Carvalhal but neither are coming here. Can't blame Farke has he got a very good job at Gladbach. Carvalhal seems to have demands above what Rovers was willing to offer sadly. Dyche was never coming here. simple as. Not sure either Jokanovic and Wagner were ever interested in the Rovers head coach job. I said its interesting option cos we gone for different type of head coach and looking for someone different instead of going for a safe option like Mark Warburton or Chris Hughton which we could have approach if we wanted them. Tomasson has won 2 leagues titles at Malmo and he has international coaching experience with being number 2 with Denmark.
  12. very good qualifying session there. Should be good race tomorrow at 12pm
  13. He has study football and he has over 20 years in the game. Have you listen to his interview on Rovers TV? I never said the whole of Europe. Its appears that JDT is the favourite to come here now and he has barely been linked to the head coach job apart from the last 2 days. I want someone here who wants to manage our football club
  14. If you feel underwhelm by this possible appointment fine but I don't. I'm sure if Wagner or Jokanovic wanted the head coach job they would have made their interest know to Rovers. For me, you get the best head coach who fits in with your footballing structure and strategy. Broughton has been here 4 days and I would imagine been very busy with helping with head coach search, etc. How do we know he hasn't agree a contract here and Venkys have approve the move? So the Work Permit can be apply for. I don't know how long its take to get a work permit. The new head coach along with Gregg Broughton will decide I would imagine but I personally think Jack Vale is ready to step up to our first team squad,. James Brown I feel is capable of challenging for a right back spot whether its Nyambe or new right back signing. I think Ash Phillips and Jake Garrett are most the capable of playing a role as squad player.
  15. @longsiders1882@sympatheticclaret what do you think of your retained list? Surprise by it? or what you thought? how many players do you think you need to sign?
  16. I am giving them a chance. I have high hopes for both and I would put them in the first team squad for the coming season
  17. Has our head of Academy coaching Tony Carss left us now since we are advertising his job on the Rovers website?
  18. well my view is we should be looking to finish in the playoffs this coming season. Players will go and players will come. None of those who have gone or might go can't be replace by us. Asked a friend who works in Football recruitment business. JoeH has answered your point on Kompany. Firstly, Nothing wrong with looking at head coaches from overseas or different parts of Europe espically given that our new Director of football Gregg Broughton has vast experience of that market. Also we don't even know what the budget is for the coming season. We need to smart and organised in the transfer market. probably need around 6/7 signings whilst bringing Brown, Vale, Phillips and Garrett into the first team squad for the coming season
  19. Jokanovic and Wagner might not want to come here for different reasons. They might not even applied for the head job coach. I think its will be interesting option and something very different for Rovers to do. Since his appointment I think Gregg Broughton has had a massive impact on the recruitment of our new head coach and he will know people there and if he thinks Jon Dahl Tomasson should be our next head coach, then fine. The work permit shouldn't take that long and maybe Rovers have already applied for the work permit if has been chosen to be our next head coach. I have not mention anything like that but every Supporter is entitled to their view.
  20. good post Paul Maybe since Broughton has come in that situation might have change.
  21. I don't see them fitting Broughton's footballing strategy and the way he see the team building. I would be looking at players Cameron Brannagan, Callum Styles, Josh Laurent or Josh Onomah(on loan) for example I believe JDT's work permit is straight forward since he has worked for 2 full seasons at a club in the last 3 years. I disagreed with the above comment. Rovers job is a good job where you are allow to build a squad, team that finish 8th last season so you should be looking to improve their league position and have a academy producing quality players for the first team Didn't Broughton leave Bodo/Glimt for the Director of Football job here? I do agree that his connections have bought more options to the table.
  22. Kenny would be first choice to replace Nyambe now that Kane Wilson has gone to Bristol City. Figeuredo would be decent addition to the squad. Flint is going to Stoke I have read.
  23. Somebody said on another fan site said that shop and ticket office was busy yesterday I think most people will either ring up or order online. Save the hassle of driving there and time
  24. Yes I did. Correct my post now. Yes it good point and has 2 league titles as a head coach. Think it just something different instead of the same boring names time after time. At least we looking into the European Market for our next head coach
  25. Farke and Carvalhal was the ones we hope for, but didn't get them for various reasons. It's interesting option. Could be similar to Thomas Frank. Who was in Charge at Brondby for 3 years before coming to Brentford coaching staff. Yes the market is smaller but still quality players in that market. Players from France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Scandinavia still out there
